The Dilithium Exchange
This exchange allows players to trade Cryptic Points for Dilithium with other players. The Dilithium Exchange can currently be accessed from the drop down menu on the lower right corner of the minimap. The currency exchange window has three tabs:
Sell Cryptic Points From this tab you can sell your Cryptic Points for another players Dilithium. The interface for creating a sell offer is in the lower left corner of the window. There are three inputs: Quantity of Cryptic Points to sell, price per Cryptic Point in Dilithium, and total quantity of Dilithium you will receive when the order is fulfilled. For example, if you enter 10 for the number of Cryptic Points, and 200 for the unit price, the total you will receive will be 2000 Dilithium. When you create a Sell order the Cryptic Points are removed from your personal balance immediately and held in escrow by the Dilithium Exchange.
Buy Cryptic Points From this tab you can buy Cryptic Points from other players using your Dilithium. The interface for entering a buy offer is the same as the one for entering sell offers. When you enter an offer to buy Cryptic Points, the Dilithium required to pay for those points will be deducted from your personal balance and held in escrow by the Dilithium Exchange.
History This tab shows a detailed history of all of your activities on the Dilithium exchange, up to 250 entries are displayed.
A few other notes on the Dilithium Exchange:
The price for one Cryptic Point must be between 50 Dilithium and 500 Dilithium. This value is subject to change as we see how the market evolves.
The maximum quantity of Cryptic Points that can be bought or sold in a single order is 5000.
Each player can have a maximum of 5 offers open on the Dilithium Exchange. Your open offers are displayed in the upper right corner of the both the Buy and Sell tabs.
You may cancel an offer at any time, and the escrowed currency for that offer will be placed in your exchange balance, which is displayed along with your personal balance in the lower right corner of the window.
When your buy or sell offer is fulfilled (by being matched with an offer of the opposite type) the Dilithium or Cryptic Points you receive will be added to your Dilithium Exchange balance. You can use the Withdraw button to move the currency back to your personal balance so that it can be used in the C-Store or one of the in game Dilithium stores.
The Dilithium Exchange is account wide. The limit of 5 open offers is per account. The Dilithium in your exchange balance can be withdrawn by any of your characters. The History tab shows which character performed each action.
my initial reaction is 500 might be too high of an upper limit.
i understand it needs to be used a lot for us to gather what is the right balance but it sounds higher than it needs to be. off the top of my head i would say 250 is better and maybe even have 25 as the lower limit.

I thought we were going to buying/selling Dilithium, with C-Points being the transfer medium, not buying/selling C-Ponts with Dilithium being the transfer medium...
Could those names be swapped around to avoid cunfusion? ?!?!?!?!? So how often are you expecting the C-Pont Escrow system to glithch/fail and peoples CP (which btw = $MONEY$) just vanishs??...
And WHEN THAT HAPPENS (because it IS going to happen), do we submit a billing ticket?
[*]A few other notes on the Dilithium Exchange:
The price for one Cryptic Point must be between 50 Dilithium and 500 Dilithium. This value is subject to change as we see how the market evolves.
Well that at least falls in the established, projected exchange rates.
1 emblem = 480 Dilithium
1200 CP / 500 Emblem = 2.4 CP
1 Emblem = 2.4CP
2.4CP = 480 Dilithium 1CP = 200 Dilithium
5CP = 1000 D
10CP = 2000 D
20CP = 4000 D
40CP = 8000 D
50CP = 10,000 D
80CP (=$1) =16,0000 D
100CP = 20,000 D
[*]The maximum quantity of Cryptic Points that can be bought or sold in a single order is 5000.
Why not "OVER 9000?!" (sorry, could help but)
At the existing projected exchange rate: 5000 CP = 1,000,000 Dilithium (btw, would take 125 days to refine on one charcter...)
[*]Each player can have a maximum of 5 offers open on the Dilithium Exchange. Your open offers are displayed in the upper right corner of the both the Buy and Sell tabs.

So it WILL be possable to "make an offer" putting one characters Dilithium up, then withdrawn that offer by a different character, and thus "moving" the Dilithium to the said different character?
Basically, will this allow me to move Dilithium between characters? (With the risk of someone buying it of course)

Is this just for Dilithium bought via the Exchange, or does it allow Dilithium to be shared between characters regardless?
Edit: Looks like you can...
Place Dilithium from Character A on Exchange.
Cancel order. Dilithium goes to Exchange Balance.
Character B takes Dilithium from Exchange Balance.
???
Profit.
Is this for trading Dilithium Ore or Refined Dilithium? If Refined Dilithium can be traded, it means that the 8000 limit is easily dealt with. Refine on multiple characters and trade to main.
Is there any information that is going to come our way soon concerning the Skill Tree Revamp? I understand that you can't always keep up with the Calendar but we're about a week over due with no word. Anything would be nice. Anything at all.

I second this i'd also like an update on this if possable.

big updates are on a thursday usually, so there is a fair chance it might be tomorrow.
Not just the skill revamp, but Heretic has constantly said there were changes to the DOff system ready to go, and yet, here we are another patch and no DOff updates.
I understand this is beta, and things happen, but heck, its been two weeks now, and we're basically running on the same build, with very little changes to it. Running out of things to test here.
Any chance of getting to see a global buy/sell history instead of just your own personal buy/sell history? I can't begin to imagine how people are going to price this stuff without being able to tell what people are currently paying.
500 only per C-point? That's setting quite a low bar on the value of Dilithium. For this to be successful you will need to offer a wide enough birth to convince people spending real money is worth it. If this were holodeck, I will personally tell you that I wouldn't spend real money unless i was getting at least 1k DL per point.
Theres probably seperate development trees for the general changes and this cryptic point change, so they can push this live without touching the other changes.
It looks functional, I note that you dont have to go to a Starbase to make the trade, I wont make any predictions on the economics though. Im looking forward to the possibility buying C points with Dilitihium but I doubt I will be selling any. I will be relying on Gold Member stipend and saving up for anything I want.

This I agree with. I have o wonder how the temporary EP could so often claim - "we have plenty of time to test this...." when (assuming you guys wait until near the absolute end to actually launch STO F2P (and I'm thinking 12/28/11 or thereabouts); you have 7 (seven) patches and counting (assuming you want at least one week of player testing for the final, initial F2P build); and at the rate things have been going, that's not a lot (IMO).
I'm really hoping we see some sort of miricle, where Feedback is listened to and acted upon and somehow we get something okay for the majority of the current userbase that allowed STO to reach this point (and not get shut down by Atari's mis-management of Cryptic in general); but given that only a few Devs are continuing any real up front communication with the Playerbase (we've heard nothing at all from Stephen D'Angelo since 10/21/11 (that's very nearly two weeks without a peep from the current STO EP); I gotta say, I'm not holding out a lot of hope.
Time will tell; and I will admit to seeing a couple of 'miricle patches' near the end of the original beta back in early 2010; but I do wish we (the existing playerbase) would at least see a little more communication from more of the team.

I am sorry.. but I am going have to rant here.
Price ceiling and price floors? Really? You really have to be kidding? Does anyone at cryptic have any understand of economics? And understand what price ceilings/floors do to an economy ? They can destroy an economy! They punishing anyone bringing items to the market. Has anyone there taken at least economy 101?
I disagree, on several accounts. To start with, the Dilithium to C-Point Conversion, which is handled entirely by the player base, does in fact allow for anyone to purchase anything from the C-Store without having to spend any of their own money.
This is not a system that will be controlled by the players. This is a system that is controlled by Cryptic and is designed to solely to set a fixed price for to purchase in game currency for US$. WHy go through all the motions? Just sell dilithium in the c-store. You know that is what you really want to do.
Am really sadden by these changes. I really have been holding back these past few weeks, willing to take a wait and see attitude. But atlas, this keystone of the new economy (using the word economy to describe what Cryptic is adding is being very generous, btw) really shows that everything in Star Trek Online will be design for Cryptic to milk as much money from the player base as it possible can not by creating a quality product but by manipulating the player into paying more and more cash.
If the changes I see on Tribble now go live to Holodeck, I fear that I will no longer be willing to support this game or the Star Trek Online community.
big updates are on a thursday usually, so there is a fair chance it might be tomorrow.
Yes, I'm aware that big updates are on Thursdays and Fridays. I'm just asking for an update on the Skill Tree since that was supposed to come out last Thursday and nobody has really said anything about it.
If I get no answer then I get no answer, and I'll just have to wait and see tomorrow, but it never hurts to ask, unless you ask like a jerk, which thankfully I'm not in the habit of doing.
So far this is mostly positive news, I'm glad we'll have to ability to get C-points without spending money. I think the Exchange is great idea. I'm also glad to see that you'll be controlling the upper and lower limits so inflation doesn't run rampant as it has with the EC's Atleast this way you can control the ultimare value of DL. Also I believe when you say Dilithium you mean Dilithium Ore and not refined Dilitihium, is that correct?
So will this essentially allow for some wonky method of transferring dilithium between one's own characters? Is that intended? Does it even matter?
If it allows the ability to transfer Dilithium between ones multiple characters in a single account, I will be happy and will probably use it.
If not, I'll never use it, I will not sell Cstore points for Dilithium nor ever buy any on such an exchange.
I'm looking forward to checking this out. I'm encouraged by the fact there will be a price ceiling. This should help prevent the price gouging that is rampant on the item exchange.

Today is wensday, tomorrow is patch thursday. This is just a feature they are turning on. The major weekly patch is tomorrow.
My question is with limit of 5 open offers per account say I have 5 characters that I put their dilithium up for trade if I read it right. Does this mean all this C Points go towards the account for any character to use? Or are the C points only going to go to the character that traded exclusive only?

i understand it needs to be used a lot for us to gather what is the right balance but it sounds higher than it needs to be. off the top of my head i would say 250 is better and maybe even have 25 as the lower limit.
