An easier way of "copying the before" file is to just save a second preset from within the game before you begin editing. No copying or moving files necessary.Arjunro - Heavens Tear wrote: »the most hair i could put on my barb was a mohawk cuase he's head out heads the other heads XD lol[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

This may seem like a stupid question, but when I open my
../Perfect World International/element/userdata/customize (or customize1) folders, there are no .ini files in the various folders. In fact, nothing at all. Just a 'dir' placeholder file.
I saved a preset, and nothing populates the male wizard folder anywhere that I can find.
What am I missing?
I found the answer to my own question, and thought I'd share in case anyone else ran across the same thing.
Not sure if it's a Windows 7 thing, but the gender/class specific .ini files for my character were located in a very different path from the normal PWI install directory. They were located in:
C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\userdata\character\customize0 -
Like after I find where the before file is.. Where exactly do I copy it to?
Why am I having so much trouble with this? lol0 -

Just completed a very small edit. Just highlight the file, hit ctrl-c, then ctrl-v. It will create a file called 'copy of before.ini' In the same folder where the before.ini file is. You can then rename that to whatever you want to call the preset.
Open that file to make the changes. Once you click onto a different preset, the one you just made will show up for you to select.0 -

If you still have trouble with BurnWhenIWiz's solution, just save a second ini file from in the game. Save the first one, name it before, click okay. Click save again, save the after, click okay. Then you can edit after without having to copy anything.I found the answer to my own question, and thought I'd share in case anyone else ran across the same thing.

The path tends to vary depending on where you installed the game for the first time and between different OS. Glad you found your files.

EDIT: Does anyone know if a female character started with male hair can wear male headfash? <_< I'd be tempted to make a veno for that older hairstyle with the lopsided black hat.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Great with a guide.
But, anyone who know the code to remove the bat like things Veno' get from some presets, like the bunny ears. The case is, I know a Veno who like her general look, but hate bat wings on her head (dislikes the tail too, but not legal to mess with ).
Been reading through this guide and starting on the included links, but is what i'm thinking of possible?Miss my Avatar b:sad

Those are part of the mesh and can't be removed. She can change them to something different though by changing the body id. The bunny and deer ears have no tails.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Very nice guide! Thank you for making it Venus and Jeremied!
I have a question.I figured out how to use male hair on a female toons. The problem is the size. The male hair is just too huge compared to the female head size.So i wanted to ask if you found a good way to " make these hairstyles fit" on the female head? Or are you still in the research phase? xD b:chuckle
Thats how far i've come xD Gonna try to make the hair somehow fit the head....b:surrender0 -

Venus@
Suspected it to be that way, but being a noob with codes i'll ask before messing up her main char
a second thought tho;
wouldn't it be possible, to take the codes from what she like on the face, and use it on a blank preset without the extra ears and tail?
Like the code for:
Eyes (colors, angle) - unless she want other eyes
Hair (color, style) - unless she wants hair from an other race ofc
and so on, instead of making a long list b:chuckleMiss my Avatar b:sad

I would like to know if there is any way to change the wizards eyes to those of a tiger shaped barbs using INI0

All venomancers are going to end up with ears though, just like you can't change the fact that the barbs are animals. Same with the elf wings. You can however copy the looks of the character and give those looks to a different class.Camlost - Sanctuary wrote: »I would like to know if there is any way to change the wizards eyes to those of a tiger shaped barbs using INI
The closest you can come is to play around with the eyes until they resemble that of a feline and then change the eye color to yellow.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

hmm, strange as she had it witout tail at some point (without INI edits) i can remember wrong tho or a glitch, at least the tail dosn't bother her as much as the bat wings on her head.
another question;
if I edit character31 to change the look of one veno affect the looks of another veno if I got 2 diffrent Venos? Or is the "result" of the approved edit saved somewhere else in the PWI installation?Miss my Avatar b:sad

If you edit one veno you're only changing that veno. If you change the body id of a veno for example, you can change what animal type it is.. If you're referring to the genderless new character inis, it will be the default look of all newly created venos. But you can change it like normal to however you want it to look. I wouldn't leave that preset with male hair though just to be safe. Create your character, save the preset for future use, then revert the default back to normal.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Not the third eye no. But you can get the earthguard eye texture which is an upgrade in many cases from the old eye texture.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

C:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\userdata\character\customize
following this i get folders containing the names from part 2, if I open 31 Venomancer i get a file called dir like this:
C:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\userdata\character\customize\31 Venomancer\dir
must admit that i kinda expected a file with the excact char name, Like a StellaNova file in my 01 Female BM - only got a dir file.
idk if it makes a diffrence if ppl use XP/Vista/Win7 - i'm running WIn7 ultimate
anyways, I think i got the basic idea of how it works. I read it like it was the Genderless files you mention in the male/female hair switch, there was the target for the edit, wich in my mind seem to be a bad thing to edit.
I see it now for me it's more like useing a template in PS like.
Getting some dinner and a few smokes helped a bit i guess b:laughMiss my Avatar b:sad

The dir files aren't the ini files and those aren't the ones we've been allowed to edit. :P If you have no customization data in there that means you don't have any saved presets in the saved presets box. Just open the client and save your venomancers preset to get a file generated there.
Did you make your venomancer on a different computer. That may be why it wasn't saved.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Unfortunately, no can switch facial textures, but that's about it.
I have a strange problem. When I pick a color from the chart that's listed. It seems to come out blue. I converted everything back and forth. Seems like my file is reading the beige skin tones from the charts as blue. I put a skin color from my EG, fed up from my char's body being blue. It comes out as a beige, but off color. I plugged the decimal into the color selector and the EG's beige color is apparently blue.
I would like to figure out why it's backwards. I want her face to match the rest of her.
