    Pre WWII he fled the country in anticipation of a German invasion and went to England. By the time WWII had started, he was in the US.

    I give up. She has to be a troll. Nobody can be like this. Also, I google'd "foxymage" and came up with a couple WoW hits, with forum posts that were intelligible and polite. So I'm going to pretend that they are the same person, and that this is a troll.

    Anyways, how about those Haitians? I think they need all the food and water they can get.

    People seem to be forgetting something.

    If PWE, by some stretch of the imagination and some miracle, did actually have a "We will donate 99% of all money you spend to Haiti" sale, you claim you would buy things from PWE.

    ... Why don't you just donate that money anyway? Why does PWE - a company that intends to make money for itself so that they can not only pay their employees but so that the company can continue run in general, have to make a sale for you to donate money? Why would it even matter? If you want to donate money that badly surely you would have already done it.

    What many people in this thread are looking for is an excuse to get what they want from this game that they sit and play, while feeling good about themselves because the money went towards something.

    If you genuinely cared about people in Haiti you would donate money without caring to get anything in return. You would have already gone, donated your dollars, and have been happy that you are making an effort to try and help people currently suffering.

    Instead however, you use these people for your own reasons. After all, if you spend $100 dollars on coral packs but that money goes to people in Haiti - you're only doing it... to get your coral packs. Because if you genuinely wanted to donate to a cause, you would have done so without suggesting you get something in return for it.

    Please take your blinkers off now and realise how terribly selfish it actually is to suggest you would buy something that you want, to make your gaming life better, just because the money goes towards aid and relief for people in worse situations than yourself.

    If the US really gave a damn about the Haitians, we would have built them earthquake proof structures, reliable water sources, etc etc when our military occupied their country during WWI. Instead, we just had troops their to randomly kill the population.

    Oh, but no one knows about that. And here we are again, sending guys and guns back into the nation. It took 30 years to fully pull them out last time. How long will it take this time around?

    lol and thats something your proud of? most people would be ashamed if they didnt know anything about history... and certainly they wouldnt venture on a debate about history when they know nothing at all about what they are talkin about....

    and hitler never got a nuke they tried but the war endet before they could only 2 have ever been used(outside of testing) both were in japan(germany and japan were allies) and both were develvoped built and fired by the united states

    Perhaps so, but there is a difference between "donating" and "buying".

    Frankly, if PWE holds an event, and all the money goes towards Haiti, they are the ones doing the donating. Why? Because PWE gets none of the money that would pour in from players charging zhen.

    In general, when you "donate", you do so while getting nothing in return. If somebody asks me to "donate" to something, I assume they are asking me to put a penny in their little donations bucket without giving me something in return. Charity.

    When you pay money to buy zhen, you're not donating anything. You're just buying zhen. To say you "donate" is not true and is not using the proper term. All you're doing... is buying zhen. So. In very simple terms (according to my own opinion of what is meant when you use the term donate)

    You buy zhen (not donating anything, you're just buying zhen for your own purposes > PWE gathers the money people have spent and donates it to a Haiti relief programme (the company would be donating as they do not get anything in return for donating that amount of money)

    Of course, in today's day and age, I have no doubt the meaning of "donate" and "charity" has now changed. Shame really, but that's my opinion on this issue.

    "What's in it for me?" is a question everyone asks before self sacrifice.
    It's normal. No sane person would donate simply out of goodness. If people had kindness to that extent, we wouldn't need law and order, or social systems like material trading.

    It might be for reputation, it might be for boosting self esteem, and it might be a simple "investment". Whatever the reason may be, "helping" doesn't necessarily have to be in form of self sacrifice.

    I think Sanctam hit the nail right on the hit on this matter. Haitians need the money generated by pseudo kindness, not the kindness itself.

    I go to sleep, go to school, come back, and this thread has turned into a nightmare. Pressa and Giodia did not agree with me, but at least they would intelligently discuss this topic. This thread actually had some hope for it right up until post 98. After that, it just went to hell.

    You can do your part and donate some money there. Why would PWE donate their money while you get the ZEN?

    Now if you are saying have PWE put an item in the cash shop that says "donated to Haiti", and that does nothing but stack in your inventory, than donate any money made from people charging that option, than I would say that may be a good idea, maybe have the item be in $1, $5, $10, $100, $1000, $10000 denominations.
