    Get over it!
    STFU!
    \I can insult you
    \\because I use slashes
\\\they show that what I say is more important.
    PWI/E is crooked.
    GMs are ignorant and worthless.
    Scams are good.
Burglars are as guilty as those they burglarize.

Did I miss any of the positive points? If I did I apologize. It's late.

    ...

    Where did we go wrong?

Oh! I'm looking to buy shabby element stones for those stupid crazy stone quests. I've got two active and I can't seem to find a blemish/shabby scam shop anywhere. So, put some mail in my box to let me know that you have some and I'll buy two of each for 3k per stone. I'll answer the mail in the order I get them, so first come first serve. Geopets, Dreamweaver.

GMs, your neglecting, and in some cases refusing to do anything about the rampant scamming is losing you more players than you're already losing to "the game that shall not be named". These aren't players that are going to the unnameable game, but players who were planning to stay loyal to PWI. Not players who have simply taken advantage of the choice to play for free, but paying customers. Do you have to dedicate a large amount to scammer reduction? No. Just a few hours a day for one employee to pay attention to worldchat and wander around archosaur looking for false advertisement.

The FOURTH of my friends lost in the last 3 weeks to scamming just happened today, I got a good deal from him on a lunar ornament because he thought he found a good deal on a lunar weapon, only to turn around and be scammed with a mystical orb, 38 million coins spent on a dq item that people would be lucky to sell for 5 thousand. This sorta thing isn't a minor scam like the ultimate substance scam that still floats around from time to time for 60k or so, that's 38 million coins, either 100+ dollars spent on the game or several hundred hours of gameplay lost in an instant to a simple oversight that could've been prevented.

PLEASE take some sort of preventative measures to dissallow severe scamming such as this case. I'd prefer the game to be able to stay running rather than losing customers and in turn losing your income.

are you [removed] kidding me? kick your own faction members then for scamming
your faction leader is worse then GMs when it comes to dealing with scammers.

None of what I have posted excuses the burgler, however it does highlight the responsibility of the other party involved. Just try to understand this part. Just because it was your fault for not locking the door, it does not excuse the robber for coming into your house and take stuff away. They are two different things, although related since one facilitated the other, therefore you cannot ignore either of them, if you are trying to find a solution for the problem.
Exactly! Just because you didn't lock the door doesn't mean the police shouldn't have to track down and arrest the burglar. The problem is the result of two behaviors which need to be discouraged - scammers who set up these shops, and victims who aren't careful and fall for them.

I would argue the victim has already been punished -- they lost a significant amount of coin. They don't need dozens of people here telling them that they did something stupid. They already know it. Pointing it out to them is stating the obvious, and any further lambasting of their behavior is not going to more effective than the pain of the money they lost. All that's left is to address the second half of the problem - punishing the scammer. That is where the discussion should concentrate.

Unfortunately, PWI's current policy on this has been to either let them get off scott free, or to punish them in secret - neither of which discourages other would-be scammers. Once a problem has grown in size to what we have now with scam shops, you have to let the public know that you're doing something about this in order for your enforcement to have a discouraging effect on the problem. Even if it's nothing more than, "This week, we issued 123 temporary bans and 45 permanent bans for scamming, 23 temporary bans and 4 permanent bans for botting... etc"

What I see here is an epic flame-war. The OP flames the game/GMs, so the next posters flame her for flaming them. This then leads the the OF, er OP, to flame them back...can I get a fire-proof suit here?

I learned something a long time ago about ALL MMO's. Trust NO ONE as everyone only cares about them selfs and no one else. If they have to kill you to get what they need they well do so and not care what you lost. They well use you to get what they want then toss you like trash. I expect the players to scam, back stab, and/or steal from me when I'm doing any quest that has drops that sell for XXXk in game currency becuse the other players only care about what they can get regardless of who they have to walk over to get it.
