    I'm just gonna keep letting it retry for hours and hours and hours and hope it works.

    *edit* cancelled it and tried again and now at least it updates without needing to do verify, but still some files fail and need to retry.

    Darth, I appricate your info and determination in this matter. However, I think your are looking at the wrong people for this issue. You need to be looking to the devs.

    The only reason I believe people are even able to get ingame is because they had their software already patched. Anyone trying to do anything over the past 3-4 days and that has had to patch is getting this error. I bet you that if the people who are able to get ingame tried to run the verify feature on the patcher they would get an error as well. This is exactly what is happening with my fiances computer, she can login to the game but run the verify and it cant connect to the server.

    Her and I were both up and running fine 3-4 days ago now everyone seems to all be having the same issue at the same time. Something is seriously wrong and I HIGHLY DOUBT that ever single users computer here is the problem.

    I reinstalled Vista without the firewall (slipstreamed a SP1 disk and completely removed its firewall software) and connected my computer DIRECTLY to the cable modem and STILL I am not able to get on. No hardware on my computer has changed since the last time I play NOR has any of the software. When I played before, I just downloaded the game and ran it. I didnt have to set anything special with my router or software, it just played.

    I am losing interest very fast given the amount of problems and performance issues.

    I know we have had this discussion, you and I, before that this game is free. However, you nor PWE can deny they make a considerable amount of money off the players that do purchase ZEN. Any given player can pay in upwards of 3-10 times what they would at any other MMO just to "stay on top" in PWI. So by all accounts, this game may be free but stands to make more money than any other MMO (subsciption fees only).

    I ran PWI this morning, whizzed through the auto patching and got everything updated first time... from V5 to V7.

    I just logged into my home PC (remotely) and hit the verify button. I watched it successfully verify the first few hundred files. It's about 1/5 of the way through and still going. =\

    If it is a problem with the remote servers, it's definitely not a universal problem. But if you have absolutely no security software installed, and a direct modem connection... I have no idea why it wouldn't work. The only other source would be your service provider itself, blocking/throttling the connection.

    *scratches his head* these are the trickiest ones to solve.

    Whats also interesting is I am trying to redownload the entire game through the official site. It is telling me 66hours to complete at about 10kbs per second. However, when I go to any other site and download anything I am getting about 1.5mbps (actual download).

    I am currently with comcast and supposed to get 20mbps (not actual) and 2mbps upload. Using a few different speed test I am reporting an average of about 27.26333mbps down 3.62 up.


    Are these servers located overseas or do you have a local installation in america. If I am not mistaken, Age of Conan is overseas yet I am able to connect fine.

    As I said, searching the forums there a quite a few others with this particular problem and many many more with newer patch problems in general.

    My fiances computer was flying throught the verify too till it got to one file and it kept timing out. Let me know if you can get 100% through.



    Also, in another post I made. I copied all of my finaces patched files to my computer. As I said, she is able to get in the game all the way. After copying all her files it no longer needs to patch and lets me load the game to the account login. Its at that point that it cant see the two servers. It has them both in the list but doesnt list a ping and wont connect, just times out.

    The servers are all based in California.

    I just checked back on my home PC, verification completed... no errors at all. And what's more - I'm using Comcast too, but I'm in the midwest.

    Have you done a speed test connecting to a server in San Jose? http://www.speedtest.net
    I'd be interested to see if you get a significantly lower transfer speed... maybe there's a network hub on the east coast that's **** up data transfer.

    Not San Jose that I know of but San Fran and LA and both come back fine. Here is a link to my other post, maybe you might be able to take a look at its info and give more insight (btw, thanks for the help!).

    :mad:, been waiting to try out this mmo for a while now & i can't even connect (unable to connect, after 20seconds of trying to connect to server then it times out)

    downloaded the client, installed it, updated it w/ autoupdate to 7, and i can't even play...tested my port & it's open, no antivirus/firewall program blocking it, so i dont think it's on my end

    Just an update ....

    Windows Vista 64 with no firewall installed (even the default windows firewall/defender)
    Safe mode w/networking
    No router, direct cable modem connection


    Same patch problem.




    Did a speed test for San Jose and getting about 9mbps down and 1.5mbps up. Atlanta, which is just a stones throw from me and I get 22mbps down and 2.5mbps up.

    So it is slower to San Jose or anywhere cross country for that matter however I still have a good connection.


    Also, I started downloading a new copy of PWI from the official website last night about 8pm and today I get home from work and it was downloading at LESS than 1kbps and had another 80 something hours to go. Stopped the download and restarted and it was fine.

    Just reinstalled it using that download and STILL have the problem.

    hey darth, would it be ok if I keep a client uploaded somewhere with all of the up-to-date patches installed, like just upload my /Perfect World International folder, I don't see any registry keys anywhere so this should work fine, people would just have to make there own shortcut's.

    I am uploading my /Perfect World International folder, once uploaded you all can download it and extract it over your current installation, it is updated to Version 8.

    I am uploading it in 600mb parts, hope it will work for you all. =]

    This works. it allowed me to update from 1.5 to 1.8.

    Anyone have the manual patch for 6-12? I can't find the one I need. I have the 12-27 or something, though.
