    Even if you had the client, it wouldn't be of much use to you without a server to run it on. :P These kinds of clients are usually only of interest to the folks who run pservers, or in some cases those who play on them if the pserver in question runs a server version which matches that client (this is just an educated guess, as I don't play PW pservers).

    All it really means is that Arch/Wanmei/PWE should really consider alternative server options focusing on a less broken game. But one thing at a time, I suppose. We'll have to see how good the expansion is before we consider how much Arch will be able to fix the game.

    Hey, If i get my hands on one of those old clients I might open a super laggy private server just to see what it's like b:avoid And just poking around the files without opening anything would be enough joy for me. b:laugh

    I think they should consider some alternative server options too, but If there's someone that knows what the tone of the game should be like, and has a shot at fixing it, it's Arch. The people that came out with 'The Lost 'Empire' will always have my respect.

    Imagine an altervative 2008 'The Lost Empire' server b:dirty I'd never even log PWI again lol

    I look for older clients because I like going through them and finding some of the older stuff that got written over in the later clients.

    You see, the patcher is unable to delete files from the client. What Wanmei does is instead of deleting a file, they write over it.
    Take the smileys for example. The older ones are nowhere to be found in the client because when Wanmei puts in new ones, they give them the same filename as an older smiley and thus it gets written over it.

    So if I want to find the older smilies, I have to dig through old clients and old patches.
    I found quite a few of them.
    A green monkey, the octopus, the egg, the bear, the old default smiley with the cigar, and a really crappy old version of the bear smilies.

    I just like collecting old pw stuff.
    I have no interest in old pw servers unless it's the beta files for pwcn or earlier.
    A lost empire server would be fair since the duping would be fixed.

    I'm also dying to see ANYTHING that deals with p2p pw.
    The best I've done with p2p pw is getting on the official. Somehow I have like 80 hours of play time on my p2p account without spending a single cent.

    Listening to Wanmei's promises is like listening to Todd Howard about Skyrim or EA and their online games or Peter Molyneux and the Fable games.

    They all come out with these great promises about how the next new thing is going to be the greatest thing ever with with so many wonderful features in it. Always turns out to be a load of nothing.
    Not that I have anything against Skyrim, but Todd promised way more for that game than what we currently got. Same goes for Oblivion.

    Typical Wanmei claims involve "3D experience" (3D as in 3D models, not 3D like at the movies), fixes, innovation, class balance, lots of content, anything really that we don't get in these expansions. b:surrender

    I know, that is why im holding my breath as always. You can always hope though and spend time doing other stuff in the process.

    Mhm. For example I was pretty pleased with the pet upgrade. It could have been so much better and include more pets and not have it limited for the 100+ only but still...the evolved pets are pretty damn good and some of them get a pretty awesome look (eg. the Phoenix).

    I'm just excited but I keep my expectations low :P

    Don't get me started with Todd Howard. He is easily the biggest liar among all Game Directors out there.

    To be fair though, I liked how he was actually going to come out of "beth mode" and explain stuff at GTV but the idiot host wouldnt let him get a word out. You can clearly see Todd's frustration with that.

    Possible? Yes. Probable? No.

    Hype might help PWI on the immediate, but years ago the new developers **** the bed with long term viability.

    Conventional wisdom says enjoy the game as it is, or move on.

    It's hard to say.
    For one, I don't know how well Archosaur Studios has kept together over the years.
    I don't know if it's the same team, if few people dropped out, or if it's mostly or all new people.

    Even if it's the same people, I don't know if Wanmei would allow them to finish what they should've have done ten years ago. Arch could've been working on this expansion for a year, they could've been working on it for a couple of months.
    Wanmei could be forcing them to do what they want them to do and trying to build up hype that this expansion isn't being done by interns.

    Just hope for the best and expect the worst...

    I hope so. If anyone has a shot at making things right (or a little better, for that matter) it's the guys who created the game. Even though, they broke the game too much and in too many ways. I want to believe it so much, but it's really hard to think they will do anything that will make it any better. It's not their fault, it's PWE's fault. They broke their own flagship. b:surrender

    Still I imagine they must be HORRIFIED by what PWE (and in special PWI) has done to this game in the 4 years they were out. Their reaction must be something like 'What have you done to our baby?'

    don't act like the original developers are the Messiah.
    They messed up alot of stuff too. E.g. PVP side was messed up from very beginning, think about nix-venos. And alot of farmable scores did take way too much time, e.g. helmet of holy punishment. Or rank6+ weapon/gear. Maybe ten ppl around the world want to "work" a few hours per day for just one aim within one year, most likely ppl with autism issues.


    And one of the main problems imo are that most people don't like to play this game as it was intended: all classes have different jobs. That's the game. All classes have different jobs.

    But most gamers want balanced classes (for pvp). This doesn't fit. Barbs and clerics were pve tools, right from start. And nix-venos + archers were the most popular pvp classes (for nabs ofc, which had to boost their egos in a game for a reason and spent a few hundred dollars for this game even before a single pack got released, after that a few thousands ofc lolz).

    Remember 1st year of pwi - exactly no one wanted a wizzard or bm in a squad. There was just no need for them (I liked bms for buffs, thats it lol). Venos were only wanted in pve when they had a herc.


    And btw, we all don't know why the developers which continued to work on this game failed that often.
    Maybe the old devs were careless regarding the annotations of the code. If this is the case, do you really believe that some of the old developers really recall what they have done more than ten years ago?

    And maybe the marketing department/management WANTED them to do what they did.
    E.g. I still don't believe that the gv or frost glitch were unintended.
    Imo their strategy is always the same: they let some people gain some aims faster (people which spent already alot) so others get jealous and want to gain this aim too (on a long run). If I'm right we should better hope that they replace the marketing department/management instead of the developers. Won't happen ofc. =P
