...though according to ED, these are prototypes and won't be the actual dolls but still...if this is the quality they are aiming for..ugh

EQG... dunno. I don't really like the art style. Not too sure about the story either. I suppose I'll give it a shot if I come across it. But else not too excited. The drama surrounding it is just hilarious though. Feel bad for the producers...

I have a question to all those who pretty much have a pony signature in their forums, or anything related to them:

Do you actually like this TV show? And if yes, why do you like it? Why is it so great?

All this fascination to the ponies has always intrigue me, and it has me wonder why didn't this happen with another cartoon.

Not trying to troll btw. I seriously don't understand why you like this cartoon so much >_<

I can genuinely say yes to that question. I like it because of many reasons, but I think the main one is that it's a show that can make me smile by the end of each episode. I guess you can call it a heartfelt smile? There aren't many shows nowadays that can do that, especially since most of them make you smile/laugh because it was funny, or the action was awesome, etc.

The characters have some development, and the voice acting is done pretty well that when combined with the art-style Faust created, you just tend to like the characters more because of that. It's a very simple and basic show with simple lessons, and I guess that's enough to make me like it.

I might not be explaining myself correctly, but it's just something you should give a chance. Back then I was the type of guy that put MLP in the same category as Barbie and all those other little girly things, which I really disliked/hated in my childhood. But after finally throwing away the stereotypes I've come to learn based on just the name "My Little Pony", and taking a chance to watch a good 5-7 episodes, I found that I really liked it.

But be warned, it's definitely a hit or miss type of show. Either you like it, or you don't like it/don't care for it. Then there are those who don't care for it, but respect why bronies like the show.

That's just my two cents!

I liked it for some of the reasons Skai said - the overall quality of the show is above average and the humor/lessons involved dont feel as forced as many other shows. I honestly thought it was going to be your typical girl's show at first, but when I saw things like Rarity (who I imagined to be your typical haughty diva type) kick a Manticore and be selfless enough to give up a length of her tail, I was a bit surprised.

If that one pony was different from the preconceived notion I made, I figured I should continue watching at the very least to see how the other characters are handled - and I've hardly been disappointed. (outside of how Twilicorn was handled)

Of course, many wont see it as anything interesting and probably see the series as a craze that's blown up to be more than what it is, but its a series worth checking out at the very least.

<.<' The first time I saw anything about the show was because I was listening to The Offspring, saw a tribute to RD with one of their songs, thought it would be 'hillarious' (the video with a pony, for goodness sakes) but it was actually pretty cool... and I was trying to figure out why in the heck there were three different pony races all in one blob of interaction since I was pretty sure they'd been kept separate before (I don't even know what my basis for this was, but I was so confused when I saw 'ponies' (Applejack and Pinkie Pie) in the same cartoon as pegasi and unicorns and stuff...) and also I wanted to know the weird tatoo mark things on their flanks were but because I had no idea what to put in for a search term, I just tried watching to figure it out instead... so I started watching it because I wanted to figure out these weird mechanics... and by the time I figured said mechanics out, it was already pretty interesting so I just kept watching it (you know like when you watch a few episodes of any show and just kinda keep watching it although you expect not to... that happened to me with Madoka whatever whatever with the Magic Girls and Kyubey, too-- which I honestily did not expect to watch because all the emotions were totally overdone and dramatic and stupid but the mechanics were fascinating) +what Skai and Euthy said about character depth.
--euh... and the season finales/whatnot are interesting to watch, granted I'm not very interested in the normal episodes anymore, ever since the Scootaloo one, since I could bareily watch it without being really annoyed at it until Luna showed up... I do like watching Rarity work/generally Rarity, though, because when she's in her shop she is someone in her field who knows what she is doing, and is at work, and I always find that so intriguing to see (that's the same reason I like seeing Slyen's posts)
I kinda got pushed away from it after getting annoyed at how there are ponies everywhere where they don't even remoteily belong (the fanbase that makes music is really awesome, but when it extends even to unrelated video-comments or forums that are totally irrelevant it gets a bit too much(sorry guys, but if it makes you feel any better Euthy posted a Fluttershy image that was really cute and made me stop having a negative reaction to ponies on pwi forums)) in addition to the episodes getting kinda 'bluh', but it was a good first run. I'm interested in how the Twilicorn mechanics and interaction will work, and certain things, but not really the entire show by now.

Yeah, pretty much what the other posters have said.

Even as a girl, I don't like the majority of girl-related cartoons and merchandise (I was playing with cars as a kid ijs) because it falls under a few select stereotypes, with a bad quality, one dimensional characters, focusing only on one side of being a girl/female and they are just like a slap in the face to all the girls making them think that..-this- is what being a girl is all about.

Lauren Faust, however, wanted to prove that cartoons for girls can have a good quality too and include characters with depth and different personalities that aren't all about cute clothes, flowers and tea parties, running after some guy.

Like it has been said, though, you'll either like it or not but I'd suggest giving it a try. I'd also recommend watching a few episodes before fully judging.

Yep, I love the show. And I'm usually very picky with the stuff that I watch. But MLP is just so cute and the characters have so much depth to them, it's more than a kids cartoon. That and the awesome voice acting

I even went and bought some of the toys, and I'm an adult. b:chuckle Although that admiteely fell on very fertile ground in my case, seeing as I always collected horse figures of all kind xD

This is a grade A sculpture that I would have tried to bid on if it didn't already go up to 580 USD. I like collecting MLP sculptures that are really well made, but most of them are expensive .

I remember seeing a vid of a auction at some MLP convention on youtube, and I was also amazed at the amount of cash people were dishing out for random items. Most items I can see the value of in the eyes of fans, but a few were just.....over the top. It ranged from drawings, and badges autographed by the various voices actors.

However it got ridiculous when they started bidding on hugs and signed autographs on random items.

But all the money was donated to cancer research, so I can't really judge, and really....+1 to those at the auction.

I was at one of those auctions actually.

I almost bid $1,000 on something because I knew I was going to get outbid, but someone outbid me before I could XD.

The new trailer is so much better then the old one o_o

The plot's a little more clear and it feels more MLP-like with a pretty good reasoning for sending Twilight there (unable to use the elements of harmony otherwise). This actually got my hopes up a little again and I'm curious to watch it xD

I was going to watch it either way but based on the old trailer and all those rumors going on online, plus the horrible doll prototypes, I was starting to lose hope.

Yeah. This new trailer feels far more justifiable than the old one.

The old one (and those creepy dolls) kinda had me bracing for the worst but planning to see it anyways. But the new one makes me feel far more relaxed about it. I'm glad they went and did that and hopefully some of the hassle that's been going around will drop off after this.

I had to rewatch the old trailer to remember just how bad it was after seeing the new one, ahaha... but yeah, the old trailer looked like some high-school drama thing using one character (and then mostily mimic characters) for no good reason, and the new one gives it reason/looks much, much better.... and also it has more Rarity !!!
I don't know why I'm keeping a very small ear out for it here, though, I never get to watch movies OTL

Ok so Sunset Shimmer definitely looks like the antagonist now, and the plot is clearer. And spike can TALK as a dog (thats going to make for some comedy). Definitely looking more forward to it
