I've actually got a strat man, i can play. Been in small gigs too. And since i've got friends who are in big bands i'm certainly familar with the scene.

And no. $1000 in Mexico City will buy you much more than just looks unless you're a "john" and have no clue where you are or what you're doing. Yes, i do realize it's quite a different thing in the US but my argument stands. In London you can get to be with some amazing women for that amount. Of course this would require you to ask around, get to know some people and actually sit down in a bar and buy the ladies a drink. I would recommend absinthe for such pursuits... Of course you can be a... let's use the term "noob". Yeah, noobs can blow 10 grand in a couple of hours on women who won't even allow them a kiss...

And i do realize this is terribly inapropiate conversation for this forum but the underlying principle stands. You could blow $1000 on a nice guitar/amp combo... or go parachute... Backpack for a couple of weeks in South America... A lot of things which would make for more meaningful experiences that "pwning" on an MMO...

anything over a 1000$ is usually just aesthetics, from rarity, to scarcity of materials that made it, to collector demand. a good 3-500$ ibanez will pretty much last you a long time, providing excellent sound. i've been playing instruments a long time, and i can tell you, my 59' sun burst les paul doesnt sound much too different from my epiphone coronet; which i got at near half the price when i got it. but you are right in that sense of the social aspect.

A solid instrument will cost you at least $600-800. Sure, you can get entry level or even mid-grade models, but you'll need to spend a little to bring them up... not meaning to sound like a gear snob or anything, but you really get what you pay for in the < $1000 market. After $1000 I agree with what you're saying for the most part... for just an instrument that is.

It's not the initial quality you're paying for... any relatively nice, new instrument will play nice and function properly.. it's after a few hours of play a day for 6 months.. or longer where the money you spend will actually start to shine. Cheap gear is made with cheap components, they wear out and break much more easily.

For a beginner, yeah $200-$400 on a mexistrat or ibenhad is just fine. But if you're actually rehearsing and gigging, you'll start to see wear and tear as well as malfunction and breakage. And when that becomes the case, you would have been better off spending a little bit more initially.

I've only bought an amp a couple of times (other than my mom getting one for me in jr high) and what i did was test feedback on those after i had done a ton of research on which one to get. Nice, but looks are just a bonus. I look for women that i find attractive for more esotheric reasons. The proverbial je ne sais quoi. Yeah, there's spring break and things like that where you just want to walk away with the hottest girl, but in my experience looks are even less of a guarantee you'll have fun than a fee is. And i dated a runway model...

Most new guitars are set up horribly, and they're set to minimum specifications so that they'll play half decently. You don't really even know if you have a keeper until you can set it up correctly... I always do at least a proper neck adjustment and intonation on a new guitar before I even decide on keeping it. I'd much rather prefer buying used from friends or other forum members that I know (talking about another forum I used to frequent). Most guitars have a history, and some can be pretty well tracked through forums. Buying new is always the gamble for me. Except when it's a company or product I'm fairly confident in, but that's usually with high end equipment.

It doesn't matter to me how people spend their time on the game as far as Cash items, whether they grind in game or if they buy some with real money; either way helps the game to a point.

Sure I'm not a big fan of not choosing the color of whatever fashion items you buy, but at least the game hasn't shut down (like another one that didn't get enough funds ( as well as they didn't listen t the users and screwed up the EXP system)) like another one I spent awhile on. x.x

back when the server was new i spent quite alot, i bought my bf a herc for christmas in 08, and most the silver dragon orders for my Silver Mane mount as well as lord knows how many gold spirit charms before event pots come out. I still spend 20 a month most months just to buy aesthetics with (fash and such) so i can spend my hard earned farming/ merchanting on gears.

Rose actually did farm 8jun. She farmed with several of the most prolific farmers on LC.

I completely farmed:

205m for my Scroll of Tome
225m+ +1-+11 on my Lunar Claws
400m+ 1st Cast Nirvana weapon.
22m for socket stones to 2 socket 99 gold.
30m+ for Cheinkun stones to transfer the 2 sockets...

Pretty sure that would easily get me Rank 8 if I had wanted. That's maybe a bit more than half of what I farmed or merchanted in about the same amount of time that Rose farmed her Rank 8.

I think PvE servers are jealous of PvP server farming abilities? b:chuckle
