With M17 comes a new approach to transmutes and fashion. We don't want to give too many specifics here at first as we'd like to also see any areas/buttons/menus that players have confusion with.
Leave any feedback/comments about this system here.
Brianna is my "Keeper of Sundry Miscellany", including dyes. She has every dye pack you can get outside of Dragonflight PvP, but this leaves several colors locked. Where do these come from?

Overall loving this concept. i had tons of transmutes clogging my inventory feels good to have the extra bag space!

Just Sad that instead of giving dragonborn the options to use the fashion head skins (i think all of them if not 90% work on dragonborn) as armor skin you chose to giveup and lock all skin for head slot for those who paid to get a race that couls use a few but at leas a few skins...
So a dragonborn that is wearing, Fools crown, Jaarls Gaze, the Last Event Hat or BloodlordsVisage, as Helm transmute and want to keep it the only choice is to NEVER change your helmet atm..
i dont believe anyone will do that for real i'm just sad...
Hands down, the best feature update I've seen so far implemented in the game!
And not only do colors get applied on top of the already present ones, but they are also slightly different and they do not really overlap but actually mix in the process.
This greatly helps to us, players who like to change fashion statement a lot.
Oh, how I wish that I've kept some of the older items for transmuting.
I bet that this was a very big developing and designing update and work to be done. All I can say is - bravo!
True Neutral
Left the Game due to heavy Damage Control & Missing Spanish Language
The new fashion system doesn't take into account belt visuals, the belt section in the appearance tab is grayed out and says you can't change the appearances for this slot. This is a problem since the transmute system is no longer in place and anyone with belt visuals can't transfer their belt visuals to new gear as it comes out. Please fix this before launch.
Several older and low level belts in this game have visuals, here is a picture of my character wearing one of these belts:
-- PVP Rogue, --[----- "Your friendly neighborhood spawn of Satan." -----]-- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Main Character: Hurricane Marigolds (Rogue WK & Assassin) Ingame Handle: trgluestickz Discord Name: Hurricane🌀Marigolds#2563 Guilds: She Looked LVL 18 & Essence of Aggression Alliances: Imperium & Order of the Silent Shroud Platform: PC
Is the new system, when you add stuff to the fashion library is it character unlock or account unlock? What about the dyes? Per character, per account? Are we going to need to more than 1 dye? What is going to happen with out current gear that has been transmuted? Are we going to get both the base item unlock and what we currently am using as a transmute?

It looks like that HR off hand can't be added to appearance menu. I didn't manage to add a single one
Please add an "untransmute" item so we can get back our old skin we used to transmute at first place ( like you did for dyes)
Example: I got alabaster bow transmuted with a rare old bow. I have no way to show alabaster original appearance, I can only discard my main weapon, that I don't want to do. I have no way to get back my old old bow which I used as a transmute for my alabaster bow.

Overall, a very good feature. I love that this will free up 30+ spaces in my bank, where I have kept various old and unusual items - well, all but my Caturday Cape - I'm not converting that to a "library" item.
There is a small bug somewhere - I sometimes get an error saying it is already in the Library, when that is not the case - I haven't been able to figure out exactly what triggers this - maybe it is related to me wearing a second item with that same transmute at the time. I need to check this a bit better.

We should absolutely be given the option to keep some of the rarer items like Caturday capes!

This message appears when you have protected your item. Unlock it and it should work
If you have visuals disabled for any slot, you can't add any new items to your library for that slot. For example, my neck item had visuals disabled and when I right-clicked on one of my many winter scarves, the option to add it to the library just wasn't there. Once I enabled the visuals the option then appeared in the menu for the scarf.
Not sure if that's how it's supposed to be but seems odd that you can't add items to a library just because visuals are disabled. I would think they would be two separate things and not co-dependent.
I'd like a way to be able to see ALL items that I have available for Appearance change. The fashion bag was really nice because it kept it all together so it was easy to see if I had say both pieces of a set. I realize I could use the Ctrl+J for each event but the fashion bag was a one-stop to see all the sets. I'm not sure I love having to look at the separate menus for each slot. A "Master" library view would be really nice, like how we have a view to see all Companions/Mounts we have.
Are we able to buy palette of colors? maybe in lingots? we all like the idea to have all colors, in one window Inside events we could drop some palette instead of flasks of color.
Right now if we want gold color we need to use a Golden Flask and then replace all other colors, for a total of 3 flasks of color used.
I've copy-pasted here from the patch notes thread. If you have a saved appearance in a given slot (e.g: head), you can't preview other items for that given slot in the gear preview window, because it will always show the saved one and not the currently previewed one. Steps to reproduce: 1. Add an item to the appearance library 2. Select that item and save the appearance 3. Click on another item (related to the specific slot) and select preview Result: Gear preview window will still show the old/current appearance and not the previewed one Expected: Gear preview should show the currently previewed item Workaround: clear the appearance for that specific slot, preview will work again

if you mean the transmute gear you had before the mod 17 update, the gear you are wearing gets a reset to its original appearance according to its name and you have to farm appearance again to add to that peiece individual library then change again, also the 1k ad per piece changed is way better than the 8k ad per piece on mod 16, i hope it helps @auron#6793 .

@noworries#8859seems helmets, some cloacks(with free appearance description), necklaces and belts transmutes dont have convert to library option
Edit 1: @noworries#8859 according to @aimsies post before, this happens if we have disabled visuals for helmets and cloacks, this would not help much if players forget it as disabled, it would be nice if we could.
Edite 2: "constructed mark cloack" was added to library but visual is not appearing after i enabled visuals for cloacks
Edit 3: belts have visuals we need a belt library too like @trglowstickz post mentioned

all dyes in game have a convert to dyes library option, the mod 16 golden dye that has 3 colors will unlock all 3 color on dye library

bound to character because of the different class locked transmutes.
> @arcanjo86 said: > Can we please have an option to keep original when converting to library? > > you will keep its original visual based on its original name
That's the exact reason I ask for an option to keep original item
when trying to add some types of dye, i cant use them because i already have one of the colors in my library. And for some like the black dye i cant add it although its not in my library yet.
Also for the dyes it would be great if the description would clearly say what color(s) it adds. the chill wind dye only tells me that its a set of pale gray and blue dyes but if it would say adds chill wind, cloudy white, ect to your library, it would be easier to know what colors you get.
Pls make any old unsrestored armor and weapons able to be add to the library, makes no sense at all have to restore armor just for the skin like Storm King Thunder armor and weapons
At The moment on live server and preview Stor Kind Thunder is almost impossible to restore since the Ice Wind Dale Merchants is asking for Seals of Protector for restoring components.
Hey everyone! Thanks for your comments and I'm glad that you like the new system! I'll try and get all the responses in one huge post here.
By the way, when I say "next week" in the rest of this, you should read it to mean "next week, God willing and the creek don't rise." I don't want to unilaterally commit our hard-working production team to anything! Also, of course these are just fixes that I personally know about/did/remembered, so improvements are certainly not limited by this list.
Clarifications
1) Once you convert inventory dye items to library colours, those library colours are unlocked forever for that character and you can use them as many times as you want. Dye bottles will unlock one colour, dye packs will unlock multiple colours. This is per character, but you can give/sell/trade inventory dye items to another character for them to convert. 2) Dragonborn characters have the visuals on their equipment head slot permanently disabled, but their fashion head slot still works like everyone else's. This has not changed, but the messaging is clearer. 3) When you add a transmuted item to your Appearance Library, the current transmuted appearance should be added to the library. If anything else is happening, please tell us!
Fixes for Next Week
1) The red box to indicate disabled visuals is a placeholder and will be replaced by the real art. Our UI artist has been very busy! 2) I enabled the equipment waist slot. 3) I added some text to the confirmation window when you're converting a transmuted item to hopefully make it clearer that you're getting the transmute appearance. 4) Several of our inventory items use the same costume, so that's where you should see the "this item already exists in the library" message. I fixed the error where it shows that message if the problem is really that it's protected instead. 5) We've added descriptions to all the library colour items saying the packs they come from. 6) Inspecting another player will show the other player's info.
Fixes for "Real Soon Now" (tm) but probably not next week
1) We're in the process of updating the inventory dye items to say specifically what colours they give. 2) Previewing equipment won't be overridden by your appearance (or will have an option to use your appearance overrides or not) 3) I'm adding a menu option to copy all three colours from one item to another with a single click, to let you coordinate your look more easily. 4) We'll let you add appearance items to your library even when you have visuals disabled for that slot, except for Dragonborn's equipment head slot since that's permanently disabled and I don't want Dragonborn players converting dozens of helmets hoping that the next one will change their appearance.

First of all, it's great to have a system to handle all the transmutes and everything.
4) We'll let you add appearance items to your library even when you have visuals disabled for that slot, except for Dragonborn's equipment head slot since that's permanently disabled and I don't want Dragonborn players converting dozens of helmets hoping that the next one will change their appearance.
Perhaps it is better to allow converting, but with a warning that it will not be available for dragonborn.
Many players change races, not allowing to convert, if I understand correctly, will force them to hoard all the unique looking items, just for the time they will want to swap races.

Now I'm not much of a fashionista per say but I was wondering since we have workshops is it possible to create Maces , Warhammers and perhaps some Battleaxes or a Maul ? Because I wouldn't mind creating a Warhammer or mace for my Paladin or Fighter. It seems the only way to get one is wait for a drop. It's just a suggestion New weapons, or new Armor would be nice
The main question I have is whether we will be able to get matching colors for some of our items. In the first screenshot, the chest and foot pieces are Arcane Overseer skins, which use a unique color for the red part (it has a little blue in it). The head and arms pieces are ones that I tried to make match and use pure red. As far as I can tell, Arcane Overseer head and arm pieces never existed (and would be unobtainable today anyway post mod 6). Will there be a way to extract the "Dungeon Dye Pack" or "Questing Dye Pack" colors from our items?
From what I'm seeing on Preview, it's destroying the dye colors when we convert them to appearance items. Not good!
