I'm having the same problem. My Tiefling Warlock is showing as a "Battle-Tested Veteran from the Dalelands" instead of a "Clever Opportunist from Neverwinter". :(
My question would be: Why are Moon Elves (the most numerous and widespread Elven race in the Forgotten Realms) available exclusively through the Knight of the Feywild pack, while Sun Elves (an elitist and aloof Elven race that rarely venture outside their domain) are available to everyone?
More people are interested because for 30 years "Moon Elf" has been the default player character Elf race in the Forgotten Realms, and Wood Elf and Sun Elf have been variant races, so it doesn't matter that the differences are mostly cosmetic. The majority of people who have played an Elf in the Forgotten Realms prior to…
Most characters don't spend enough time in a particular level bracket to accumulate a lot of mats for crafting at that level, compared to the amount of time spent at lvl 60 once they get there. A player might spend 10 hours going from lvl 10-20, but 100+ hours at lvl 60, so they're going to accumulate a lot more high-end…
For me, the issue isn't having access to an exclusive race as part of a pack, it's the fact that what has been the default Elf player race in the Forgotten Realms for over 30 years is only available as part of a $60 pack while a race of elitist and reclusive Elves is available to all. It's pretty clear what PWE/Cryptic are…
Exactly. It's like having "Orc" as an exclusive race and allowing everyone to play "Uruk Hai" for free. There shouldn't be more Sun Elves running around than Moon Elves. I think they're well aware of what they're doing, though. Since Moon Elves were the default PC Elf race in the FR for 30 years, they're trying to entice…
The classes in Neverwinter aren't custom classes, they're class builds of the 4e classes. For example, both "Great Weapon Fighter" and "Guardian Fighter" appear as class builds of the Fighter in the 4e PHB. Archer Ranger and Scourge Warlock are (rumored to be?) next. We'll probably eventually see a "War Wizard," "Battle…
They've only mentioned Moon Elves for pack-buyers and Sun Elves for all. It doesn't make sense that the most aloof and elitist Elves are available to everyone and the most common are behind a pay-gate, but I think pay-gating the most common Elven race in the (pre-4e) FR setting is intentional. They're trying to entice…
Not only that, but with the verbiage they've been using, it doesn't sound like there will be a Moon Elf race for non-pack purchasers. From the extended FAQ: and Nothing implying that the Moon Elf race is anything but exclusive to pack purchasers. It should have been the Sun Elves that were exclusive, as Sun Elves are,…
Can you provide a link to where they say that? Not saying that it's untrue, but it's not in the same places where they list the features of the Knight of the Feywild Pack and the Extended FAQ.
I don't know why they'd make the Moon Elf exclusive rather than the Sun Elf, as Sun Elves are supposed to be more elitist and aloof than Moon Elves in Faerun. I'm not saying it doesn't seem like that might be what they're going to do, just that it seems backwards to me.
The thing is, the "unique race" in the Hero of the North pack is "Menzoberranzan Renegade" and what the rest of us will be getting (eventually) is "Drow". The "unique race" in the Knight of the Feywild pack is "Moon Elf". That doesn't leave much room for making a Moon Elf race available to everyone else, unless they rename…
I really wish they would let us know more about what is coming up and when to expect it. I mean, everyone is waiting for the Archer Ranger, Scourge Wizard and Drow and it's "Surprise! Alchemy, Sun Elves and Moon Elves!".
New classes have been hinted at by the devs for a long time and many people had defended the current lack of classes with "it's still in Beta," so it's reasonable for people to be disappointed with the lack of new classes at launch. Also, I believe the word you were going for is "smug," not "confused".
People who bought the Heroes of the North Pack got the "Menzoberranzan Renegade" Drow, which have unique tattoo options. Essentially, they get early access to the Drow and a unique cosmetic option. Everyone else will get standard Drow 60 days after release. It's free, but we just have to wait for it.
It's in Open Beta, so there's no better time to release classes that may need fixing. Besides, new classes will bring more people back into the game. For me, I've been spending my time in the game just Invoking and leveling professions, but I want my main to be a Archer Ranger so once they add that class, I'll be playing…
I don't know what the point is in people posting about quitting a F2P game that is still in Open Beta over bugs and missing content. If you refuse to play the game unless the bugs are fixed and it has more content, take a break and come back when it's officially launched.
I'm not sure if there are any "F2P games with the possibility of subscription" in the sense of being primarily F2P games that also offer a sub. There are a lot of games that were purely subscription-based and added a F2P option later. None of them started as F2P and added the sub model, or were launched as a hybrid game,…
Could be worse: the Two-Blade Ranger and the Drow are released at the same time, and everyone that creates a character claiming to be the real Drizzt Do'Urden gets all butt-hurt over everyone else who creates a character claiming to be the real Drizzt Do'Urden. :p
Neverwinter classes and roles are taken directly from the class builds in D&D 4e. The role of a Ranger is Striker, which is pure DPS. The "Coming Soon" graphic is a generic placeholder. It isn't the outline of the next class.
They've taken the Class names, Paragon Path names and At Will/Encounter/Daily Powers directly from the PHB. While the mechanics aren't the same, Neverwinter is very much keeping with the nomenclature of 4E. It isn't likely that they'll add classes that aren't represented by the class builds in 4e.
Obviously konnani's native language isn't English, but it's pretty clear what s/he's saying, so no reason to mock him/her. 1) The quests are very similar as you level up, just the scenery changes. I find that to be true in most MMOs. There's a good variety of quest activities, plus content like the Foundry, though. 2) Only…
