  • The reason why modern MMOs don't play like UO isn't about compute power or dev laziness, it's that UO was not a good game. It's a classic example of simulating a world, giving all sorts of ways to interact with it in free form and verisimilitudinous ways, and expecting that somehow a fun game will just naturally appear. It…
  • His word on the subject has no more weight behind it than any other random forum user. The forum mods are not PWE/Cryptic employees.
  • And whining on the forums is totally imaginative and creative and worldly. Sounds like you're just angry you can't play the very specific character notion you've latched onto, and lack the imagination and creativity to work with what's available. Where was this specifically indicated? It should have been obvious that…
  • I don't see why making any decisions made at character creation permanent for all time can possibly be good. In what way does punishing new players for making mistakes in their earliest moments of playing the game (and potentially anyone when the game changes on us) improve the game in any way?
  • Wizards are certainly worth playing if you don't have absurdly specific and rigid expectations. And what does the respec have to do with anything? Again, you were shown your options. If you don't like those options, a respec isn't going to do anything for you. You were given no reason to believe that more spells (at least,…
  • The powers were right there for you to see the moment you started your character. It's nobody's fault but your own that you didn't understand what you class could and could not do. I actually think cosmetic animation changes would be a good Zen store item. But still; Neverwinter has very complicated animations compared to,…
  • As far as I've been able to tell, it doesn't matter which hand you put items in (ignoring the few Main Hand Only ones). The base damage just gets added together, and the stats apply equally.
  • The main problem there is a bug where companions stay behind when a player logs off or zones out. Without that, it wouldn't be nearly as absurd. Customizable companion appearance would be nice, but there's a lot of other things I'd rather they spend the time on.
  • The limitations of the Control Wizard here have absolutely nothing to do with 4E, because Neverwinter's mechanics have nothing to do with 4E. I'm sure they'll introduce a mage class with other elements at some point. War Wizard, some kind of Warlock or Sorcerer, whatever. A new MMO doesn't have everything imaginable right…
  • Armor Penetration is applied first, and cannot reduce Defense below 0. But then debuffs are applied, and those can go below 0.
  • There's not much point in marking, in that sense. The CW is in charge of all the adds, simple as that.
  • It's a perfectly reasonable system. Log in most days, but can't everyday? You get your Ardents, and some day you'll get that Angel. Can log in everyday? Chance for a C-ward. Can't? Oh well; life goes on. Why would you expect everything from the game? Sorry your timer got bugged, but the bug's the problem (assuming there…
  • Assuming the bug where Flurry's bleed stops working is fixed, a single Rogue in a group will still be good. Without that fix, might as well not even bother playing end-game on a TR. But we'll be the only class where taking a second of the same class is idiotic. I don't know what the devs are thinking there.
  • Go to the official wiki: http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/ And look at the Ability Scores section for each class. The bonuses are generally percentages, either +1%, +2%, or +.5% per ability point beyond 10.
  • Then shouldn't they sell better looking outfits? The only options they sell now are ridiculous costumes.
  • If they didn't intend (and expect) this, they are idiots. But also, half the point of games is for players to be able to come up with their own tactics and strategies to it that aren't exactly what the creators of it had in mind. Calling every tactic and strategy that the devs didn't "intend" an exploit is ridiculous.…
  • We will get a respec for free. It's stated in the patch notes.
  • How do you know this? The chests have an inherent chance to give rewards the next tier up. You can't get a tier 3 result on a leadership task (assuming there even are tiered results), because the tools max at Uncommon, for a +16% Quality, and you can never use more than two tools. You'd need at least a 101% quality bonus…
  • Pushing mobs off cliffs isn't an exploit. It's sound tactics.
  • Do you not raid dungeons to do those things?
  • Everyone plays the game for fun (except farmers for RMTs). What other reasons are there to play a game? Fun derived from advancement is not necessarily predicated on bragging about it. Wait, so bragging rights are fun?
  • They're not asking for money to play the game. I'd be happy to give them money to play the game. They're asking for money to grant in-game power in lieu of playing the game. Very few things they're selling aren't in-game power, and they haven't been things I've wanted, so I haven't paid anything.
  • Seriously? That's the stupidest idea. Of course, it doesn't matter if Gauntlgrym isn't worth actually running... Well, yes, the inevitable conclusion of this design is that you must "find a way to win" the PvP match to play the T2 dungeon. Do you have a point, or were you just stating the obvious?
  • That is true, except that Gauntlgrym isn't just competitive PvE. The second stage is a full-on PvP match, a scaled up version of the ones we already have. You must win that match to play the T2 Dungeon. If you lose, your consolation prize is a T1 Dungeon that will probably be a waste of time for anyone who can actually…
  • PvP is also horribly balanced, rife with cheese tactics, and where the pay-for-power this game is built on is the most impactful. It comes down to a person's personal tastes, and I have no intention of changing yours, but it's clear that there are lot of people who dislike PvP (and some that dislike PvE). I think the…
  • Are you aware of what a "beta" is and what "feedback" is and why it's the whole point of a beta? And that the earlier feedback is given, the easier it is to use it? Everyone gets those coins. Haven't paid a cent, and I got them when I capped. I suppose it's possible that by T1 and T2 they mean tier 1 and tier 2 of…
  • Maybe he is bad. Maybe not. I'm pretty lousy at PvP. But that's not relevant. PvP and PvE are very different. It's entirely reasonable for people to like one and not the other. Mixing them together forcibly is not a good idea.
  • The point isn't that people are likely to join just for the PvP (maybe a few will, but I doubt many will). The point is that people are likely to join just for the T2 Dungeon, and if they fail the PvP they need to win to qualify, will just drop out instead of waste time on a T1 Dungeon. If it's T2 stuff of similar quality…
  • Gaining those things through in-game means would be playing to "win" them. Paying for them with cash is paying to "win" them instead. You're not speeding some process up (like a +% XP boost would); you're entirely obviating that process. "Win" also refers to the added in-game power paying cash provides, which in turn…
