Bump! Would love this, would make my life so much easier as I want to tailor my quest RP wise, but can currently only do so through so... many... tokens...
I must admit to being slightly confused at first but I got it in the end, thank Chipotle for me. :D I would definitely consider working with someone as talented, and full of ideas as you. In truth my really interest in the Foundry is the story, dialogue, and characters I can create and share with people, I must admit to…
Just finished reviewing runis12's quest, and if anyone is thinking about playing a quest with good story, plot characters and the chance to romance them, defiantly play this quest it is brilliant, and a very good showing of how really good (and lovable!) characters can make a quest very memorable. You can find the forum…
Finally managed to play yours just now, sorry I haven't been able to before now real life just keeps getting in the way... Anyway extremely glad I did, as I loved it. It was the most fun I've had playing in Neverwinter so far. The characters where brilliant (I loved Zaelius in particular, but I really look forward to…
@oortexplorer I will check that out at the next opotunity :) @xhirt The same for you aswell, it looks good :) @drakesinger Your quest has been one I've been meaning to play for a a few days now, and is the next one on my list :)
Urgh, I know how you feel, I'll probably spend days on my dialogue, and I'll be lucky if people even read it... But even if a handful do, and enjoy it because of that, I think I'll be happy enough :) I went into this fully aware that I was appealing to only a very small audience. Maybe one day, if it is ever possiable to…
Sounds like a really good idea, I always love to learn a lot about characters, and it really helps you form an atachment to the characters. For me personaly it would definetly be a big incentive to look around, and if you are aiming at an audience who love story and roleplay it hopefuly will be for them too. And if any…
I must admit the moment I thought of the idea of having quests after marriage I imeadietly wanted to do something like that, but didn't know if that would scare people off, it looks like there might be an audience after all! :) Will defiently factor this thought in for later quests. Mirimero I can see where you are coming…
That is quite true, which is why if I where to impliment marriage I think I would do it so that you can play though one or two quests with them still. Even if you don't go down the marriage route however, you've got to take into acount that the only way you would again be able to see the NPC you professed your love to…
I'm torn on the subject of marrying the NPC romance. Clearly it needs to be an option to avoid if the PC doesn't want it, but still wants the relationship to continue it's status quo, as it where. I have however also been toying with the idea of not having the marriage option right at the end of the campaign more sort of…
I'm glad I know I have at least one person who will play, and hopefuly like, my quest/campaign! :) I really want my exams to be over now so I can finaly get it going. :( And thanks for making this thread, found several great quests I really enjoyed playing through this, looking forward to anymore people make! :)
You can use the same icon, and description, but the name of the title must be different for every single item. I don't have accsesto Foundry at the moemnt though so I can't double check but I'm fairly certain. Saddly this makes everything slightly more complicated for making staged relationship and tokens which don't stand…
That is the way I'm currently managing the dialogue. It would be so much easier if dialogue could be linked across maps. I don't understand why this hasn't been implimented by cryptic, and I really hope at some point they change this.
I keep changing my idea of exactly how I am going to implement the romance too. But I'm slowly coming around to the idea of not bothering with asking about gender, and instead as you said carefully word dialogue and so on, and thus make it completely up to the player as to who they romance and make my very ambitious…
I know, I was only joking (slightly ;) ). And trust me I understand the pain of having to do the whole token thing to ascertain gender. I also wish we had ability to differenciate betwen classes (and not just through skills) and perhaps even more importantly, race! AS it is I'm torn between having an uncountable number of…
This exactly what I personally am looking for, of course opinion varies. But for me the one thing to avoid would be having the romance develop too quickly, I definitely like the sound of what you are doing with having them appear over several episodes and having the relationship develop over time. To me this is just a bit…
The idea of the potential romance NPC as more of a companion, rather than someone static, or a housewife/husband, is something I am aiming for. In my camping I am taking it a step father with the NPC, which you can choose to romance, is a major driving force behind the quests. (I won't say any more though, spoilers!) In…
Too true. I hate being forced down certain paths, and despite that fact that it means even more writing and work from myself, when I am writing my quest I also always try to have to result in just another way of approaching the quest. Sometimes through there is a limit, I can't write every single possible result, so I have…
Nope. You see even that would have a purpose if you played it right, humour! Just image if you came across a couple of enemy guards who where having such an inane conversation... Helps with imersion and is mildly amusing. In fact... you have just given me a brilliant idea...
*Claps* Exactly! Although one can't forget Alistair too! It think for me though, the big one, the one which changed my life forever... Was KOTR, the big twist, the romance with Bastila! From the tender age of nine years old I was hooked on the story telling power of gaming. *Feels incredibly nostalgic* Anyway, as much fun…
Exactly. Sometimes all I want is a dungeon crawl, and I'll not be that bothered by the text. The rule of thumb with all written text, not just in games but in all fiction, is that it must always have a purpose, whether it is to move the plot along, expound on the story, or develop a character further along, never writer…
Sounds really interesting! :) I'd love to see what you've done, once you've got it ready. I think when romance is used well, within the context of a good plot and setting, it really helps to make it stand out, and adds an extra layer of depth to it. For example, part of the reason I will always consider games such as Mass…
That's not exactly what I was talking about. I am more talking about the ability to impart atmosphere through the use of dialogue. I'm sorry that didn't come across very well. I agree with you to some degree about how in great literature dialogue can be simple, however it was done in such a way, perhaps with colloquialisms…
Although I see where your coming from here, and clearly for the majority of people this is true, however for me the opposite is true. I hate simplistic dialogue with little to no depth, unless the story really hooks me, or the character itself has demanded this, I tend to find I quickly loose interest and either then skip…
@mirimero Your right, it is going to be a lot of dialogue, but if I take it one quest at a time and slowly build it up it should only take about two weeks per quest. I hope. If it comes to it I may even publish with a relatively limited number of choices to start with, to at least get it out there, and then add even more…
