. . .When purchasing single [Shower of Lights] for Stars, the are automatically opened for you. When you purchase multiples at a time, a random amount are automatically opened for you and the rest are placed in your inventory as a consumable, unbound item: [Shower of Lights].

. . .Please fix this so they do not automatically open but leave them unbound.

. . .There are reports of people being confused by this, think they're not getting all their [Light of Simril]:

. . .There are also new reports of players not receiving the correct amount of [Light of Simril] upon opening/purchase, which have been merged below.

There is something seriously wrong with the Shower of Lights reward bought with Tarmalune Trade Bars:

    -- I had 644 Simril Lights
    -- Fawn costs 3200
    -- 3200 - 644 = 2556 more Lights needed; each Shower of Lights supposedly gives 220 Lights
-- 2556 divided by 220 = just over 11 Stars needed to have enough to buy the Fawn

But when I turned in the Stars, all at once, I only received 40 Lights per Star, not 220!

Then as an experiment, I went back and got a few more Stars to see what they were actually worth--when I turned them in one at a time, suddenly they were worth 440 Lights each!!

    Cryptiiiiiiiiiccc!!!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem yesterday with the fish, i turned in 5 stack of white, 5 green, 5 blue and 1 purple. an only got 400 lights. When i calculated it out is should have gotten 1400

I sent in a ticket with GM help. Do you think I'll have any chance to get my Lights of Simril on the character that I intended to have them on?

I greatly doubt it, but you never know. I cannot speak for the GM Team on what they may or may not do.

And Im not allowed to post what the GM says in order to help others (if they do help me) or shed light on them doing nothing to fix it (if they decide not to help), right?

That is correct. (Rule 3.03) PM me to discuss further, if needed.

This. The Showers are supposed to be unbound and tradable which is a brilliant solution to being stuck with an unusable number of Stars. However, having an uncontrolled number of the Showers automatically converted into Lights of Simril makes them untradable and wasted again.

They open when they are traded, received in mail, removed from the AH, but not when transferred from a personal bank. Probably something to do with their user attachment ID's if such a thing exists.

I had 9 stars, so I purchased 9 showers of light, however my inventory only reflected that 2 showers of light had been applied (440 lights) when all 9 of my stars had been used up. I found the additional 7 showers of light in my inventory, all I had to do was double click them and they activated and the additional lights were added to my balance. So if you purchase more than one shower of light at one time, and they don't all show up right away, check your bag for them. If you find them there, just double click to activate. Hope this helps.

The problem arises when someone wants to use stars earned on an alt to buy Shower of Lights and send them to another character. You're going to lose 440 lights (give or take) just to do this.

glad to hear its not just me, I was gonna convert stars to showers of lights on my alts and send them over to my main however after noticing this happening on the first character I tried to do it on, I decided to wait for cryptic to fix their stuff.

Rather than holding my breath waiting for Cryptic to fix this before the event ends, I am executing Plan B. I am analyzing what I want and how many lights I need to get them, factoring in this bug and the number of lights I can get from alts, and continue to fish till i get what I want for my toons. There is going to be wasted lights...

I agree...the shower of lights are a bonus that I would like to take advantage of, but at this point I can't relay on them for shifting some extra lights to different chars.

The showers are the only way that my HR will be able to get both the horse and the pet mimic that she wants, because I don't think I've got time to farm enough lights for her after I finally (hopefully) get a fawn for my DC. I'm really hoping this is fixed tomorrow (Monday) so I don't have to risk losing out on it.

I bet this was done intentionally to prevent abuse. There is no excuse for an item to be used upon purchasing/trading items for it. Potions aren't used, so aren't coffers of wondrous augmentation. Not even weapons and items are automatically equipped. If it was truly a bug, out of all the items that can be bought and used at will, why did the "bug" have to be on the Showers of Light?
It's been 3 days already and there's still no response from cryptic nor a fix for it. So you might as well assume that it was intentional, a little heads up would've been nice Cryptic.
Still don't agree? What are you going to do? Wait till maintenance? Guess what? It's on thursday and by the time maintenance is over, the event is also over.

Just posting to warn others, I do not expect a fix by the time the Winter Festival is over...

DO NOT redeem more than 1 -2 Star of Fortune at a time from the Simril vendor, I went in with 7 Stars of Fortune, hit buy, slider came up (usual 1 - 20), I selected 7, hit buy.... Checked my balance (should have been over 2,000), was only 1,000. Checked the log - only 2 sets of 220 lights!?! Yet ALL my Stars were gone. Missing 1,100 lights!!

*Edit* Not sure why I did not see the other posts, I did check. As per other posts, 2 were redeemed automatically, the remaining 5 were placed as inventory item as per other posts, so no loss for me - phew!! Still classify this as a bug, others have been hit by this as well.

Might is not always right - the powerful sometimes forget that.

So I decided to convert the Stars I had to lights since I figured I wasn't going to have enough for a mimic. I attempted this on two different characters both with 12 stars each and discovered a pretty bad bug on one of them.

On one of my characters, I exchanged the stars 1 by 1 and correctly received a total of 12 x 220 = 2640 Lights

On the second of my characters, I exchanged all 12 stars in bulk and received only 440 Lights

I have 0 stars left on both of these characters after exchanging. I can only assume there is something buggy with purchasing in bulk as it only gave me enough Lights for 2 stars on my second character.

I still want to know why some are converted directly to lights and not all to the item Shower of Lights?

I want to buy one or two with each of my alts and send them all to one char (or AH them...), but cannot if they are Auto-Opened on me. Then I'd have a char with 220 lights (not enough to buy anything substantial and my other char not getting the items...)

Yep, this is pretty much the problem people are having. I have personally farmed enough for 3 or 7 chars to get the fawn, but I am not interested or have the time to farm the other 4.

The thing I find especially galling is that it seems to be quantities less than three that are auto-opened, which means that you seemingly can't work towards consolidating lights from leftover stars after getting a mimic.

I haven't cashed out anyone yet, as I'm waiting until I have my maximum possible stars to attempt for maximum possible tradeable lights, and hoping that after that I'll have enough to distribute around to actually buy a few things. I just couldn't handle the farming grind on top of managing multiple campaigns and trying to work in the odd dungeon.

I decided to try buying Shower of Lights BUT on the Preview Server.
Seems like anything less then 3 are auto-open as the poster above me beckylunatic mentioned.
I also noticed that if I sold my Shower of Light(s) to the Vendor, it is accepted and you receive whatever coins...
BUT if you try to buy it back it actually auto-opens 1 shower of light. So if you sold 2 and you tried to buy it back, you will have 1 shower and the other is auto-opened. Weird bug.
