Btw i got mine in the 6th/7th run and sold it for... 2 MILLION AD... so yeah, its pretty rare
after that on about 12-13 successful runs (im getting already tired of it, after the first days it becomes boring, easy and repetitive) nothing so i guess its like almost all the rare drops in the game, very rare

Been trying this with 2 purple and 2 blue (only 1 lvl 30 though) and after reaching 4th floor a couple of times, I'm left wondering. Does anyone know how many floors there are in the challenge?
Would be really helpful to know if I'm close enough for it to be worth going on, or if I'm miles away and need to lvl companions first.
recent update = 31 kills no companion... good job cryptic
. . . . . A rare pet should be hard to get, indeed. You do get other loot, so it's not a loss.
. . . . . To answer the questions about what pets you'll need. You'll want 4 rank 30 companions, each with two main focuses that cover all the dice in total. Choose your battles wisely.
this is not rare....this is called impossible...
if you go to a dungeon in game you will get the drop you want in..how many times? 1 out of 5? 1 of 10? dont think so
this is a blue drop not evep epic and drops 1 out of.....50? we ll see
i just say we should be informed from before on the % because its an investment just for this game its not something that you would do either way
thats the difference

gone as much as 70-80 runs without getting the item I want in game. still waiting on a few actually.
if you do 70 runs of a dungeon in game you might not get the item you want which is not likely but you might get many epic items that you can sell and still buy the item you want... in sword coast you get low level loot and even seal of unicorn not drake and the only thing worth the effort is that companion...so its time and money for a 1/50 companion...hmmmm

If you're not having fun with it, then why bother?
If you're not having fun with it, then why bother?
not only that, if the lightfoot thief is the top prize for SCA, why would they want to make it easy to get so people stop playing SCA once they get it? if you go at it with the mentality of "i have to grind to get this" then it's going to become unbearable. but if you enjoy SCA and play it every so often then if/when you do get the prize, it's a bit more rewarding.
but to each their own.

nothing you'd run a dungeon 80+ times for is boe thus you have no choice but to farm it. It took me 67 runs of 3/3 mc to get gwf off hand for example, still running it trying to get dc oh for my stone, and 2/3s otherwise for artifact. 95% of those runs i got blue HAMSTER worth 34 silver. The other 5% i got frags sure, but again can't buy bop items in this game so it doesnt matter.
TL;DR: You must play the final encounter to receive it (you can skip others, though).
The Sword Coast Adventures are somewhat like a dungeon delve. You 'explore' the dungeon - notice the drawn map as you go. You do not need to play every encounter, but you do need to find your way through the dungeon. Once you've discovered the path to the end encounter (the encounter icon is *usually* much larger than all the others) and successfully complete THAT encounter, the quest will end and ALL items promised will be delivered, including any companions.
I've already received countless Shepherd Dogs without even realizing it.
When you play SCA follow the map through the dungeon. Skip those encounters you don't need right away - just follow the paths. When you finally see the end encounter, then go back an play the others if you want. Play the end-encounter when you are ready (and have enough Party Health left). When that one is complete, you get all the stuff you've 'found' so far plus the quest rewards. *Every*. *Time*.
I always play as few encounters as I can until I find the end encounter. Then I go back to play the others. If my party health drops to a certain level, I go straight to the end encounter to win the prizes.

How do we know what they specialise in? I mean of course you can check them out if they're levelled if you already own them. But I mean is there any way of checking them beforehand if you wanted to add that into consideration.

That has many of the companions listed and which dice they get. You can also look in game on any companion you own. While they are active companions, click on stats for the companion and in the bottom right corner it will show what kind of dice they have (and will unlock later).
i love the idea, and i have epic pets that give me a 100% chance to complete it.
However the lag/delay in gateway makes it annoying to play. I cant stand sitting and waiting for my dice to be available to click. I will prob end up buying it if i really want it. But right now doing the sword coast right now just isnt very enjoyable.
Okay that's fair. Though every time I've completed the end-encounter I've gotten it. Perhaps I was just luckier than many others.
Either you are mistaken or a lair. There is no way you are lucky enough to have gotten the lightfoot thief every time you run a t6. If somehow you are that lucky, why aren't you selling them to make a fortune on the AH?
IMO Not sure if a troll or just wanted to post something to advertise his foundries.
It's either impossible or too suspicious that you got that companion from each attempt. I double dardove's post.
P.S someone sold it for 8m recently - _ -
Just wth...

He is obviously mistaken. He referenced the dog which is a give away companion everyone gets their first sca adventure (the tier 0 adventure that you cannot fail.)

I have no reason to lie - I completed it twice. Though my last couple attempts - no-complete (end-encounter I'm referring to.) I usually multi-task: playing SCA on my mac while fishing in-game on my PC.

I recently upgraded my last pet to Purple so I could run with 4 x lvl 30 pets in the T6's and got a Lightfoot Thief last night... Very cool looking.
1) ONLY seems to drop from the final boss (Reminds me of the GWF/DC OH from MC in terms of drop rate)
2) Not bound, is BoE (Transferred mine to my alt)
3) Does descent damage and aggro (Currently lvl 11, doing Sharandar dailies to grind it)
Keep on grinding for it!
Side note, I wish blue or purple marks would drop on the final boss too. These green marks are a disappointment, at least drop blue rank point stones!

Hover your mouse over a dungeon, it will show you what the rewards are. You WILL get all those rewards if you *complete* the dungeon. "Complete the dungeon" does and always has meant: "finish the final boss", which translates into: pick a dungeon, kill the final boss, receive *everything promised*.
Now hover your mouse over the Tier 6 dungeon. See the blue Lightfoot Thief listed there, at the end, on the far right? Kill the boss of that Tier 6 dungeon and you, too, can have one.
Just like it works in-game: Quest-giving NPC tells you were to go and shows you the rewards you will win. Go do it, win and receive exactly the reward the NPC said you'd receive.
This is how I hope to offset the price I paid for upgrading my companions to epic. I doubt it will work, there's no way RNG will play nice. If I manage to get one I'll try to remember to post here to make people jealous.
Nah just kidding
I'll still try to get this thing tomorrow or so. Need 2 more levels on my Dancing Blade and then I have 4 level 30 epics... finally.
i just wanted to tell the guys that got it in 1st try: I HATE YOU!!
Oh trust me, I did not get it on the first try! I was running w/ 3 purples and 1 blue pet for 50+ attempts before upgrading my Dancing Blade to 5% Crit Sev. I think I got it on the 6th try last night (all pets were on their last 10 stamina before rest).
Side note... "Wererat Thief" and "Ioun Runestone" are still VERY good, even @ Blue level in the T6. Even with a Purple Dancing Blade, there are times I wish I had upgraded the Thief instead.

The thief is not a guaranteed drop. There is a small chance of getting it every time you complete a t6 adventure.
