I think he's referring to my mention of his smug smile, the other MMOs I listed, or your mention of his complete hypocrisy concerning enforcing some rules, while support the violation of others, IE, the exploitation of an error within the code which granted an astronomically high chance at being awarded a prize that was intended to be rare. This was an acknowledged mistake on PW's part, and therefore they have publicly supported the exploit.
I think I managed to slide enough 'relevant' content in there for the mods this time.
Mr. A is trying to keep the situation calm, He has always done a great job, and may not even have contact with the devs right now. He might not even agree with the devs on this, but what he signed up to do was keep everything calm. Now before you attack me, I haven't been playing much do to the season of construction work, and street hockey TIME!!!! I took fri, sat. and sunday off so I could get a bit of game time in with the new Mod, and stumbled upon this.
I really disagree how they acted on this, but I will give feedback on how this should be treated.
1. Rollback (this is what my personnel feeling is)
2. Give everyone playing right now a account wide Nightmare (this will never happen, but I can dream )
3. Take back all lockboxes and refund everyone there zen/cash.
Edit: Sorry I've been away from forums for a bit now just popping in now and again. I've had me share of ales tonight and normally would be all in for a fight, but just not into it. I think someone from Cryptic needs to respond to this.
When the words gets out, and people start to read from gaming magazines/websites that:
On the first day of its long waited module 1, Cryptics' Neverwinter Online witnessed a huge wave of exploit which allows a precious epic item to be obtained at 1/20 of its original market cost, a bug that has been reported on its own test server 6 days prior to the launch, but received no attention from the devs. After the incident, Cryptics did not perform any rollbacks and expressed no intention of taking any sort of measures against the exploiters, neither are they willing to track down the exploited epic items.
And people will start to see how irresponsible you guys are...you are really making a big mistake, srsly.
Wait a minute. You are telling me that this exploit was on the test server 6 days before the release and they did nothing to fix it? Holy <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> Batman!
What is Cryptic doing? They already completely screwed the pooch on STO and CO... who is running the show over there?

The negative sentiments expressed in this thread go way beyond the typical forum whiners.
PWE/Cryptic made a bad call handling this situation. Exploiters should not be tolerated, much less congratulated.
PWE/Cryptic I strongly suggest you revisit your stance on this issue. I assure you I, like many others posting here, are not just complainers. Many of us are passionate players that truly enjoy and (want to) support the game.

s32ialx,
My authority is limited to the forums and the forums alone. What I am enforcing has nothing to do with in game actions: in game offenses are up to PWE and Cryptic and even when you guys report stuff like maps which violate the Foundry EULA all I can do is pass it along for Cryptic/PWE judgement.
I can't choose to disregard the forum rules because players are unhappy with a decision Cryptic/PWE made about in game rules. That's their choice and their choice alone.
It doesn't mean I have to agree with their choices but by no means does that suggest I can or should ignore the violations of the forum rules. If players violate the forum rules pointing to Cryptic and PWE's decision will not change the fact you violated the forum rules and will be moderated for doing so.
Keep this discussion pertinent to your displeasure with the decision and within the forum rules. That's all the Community Moderators and Community Management staff ask.
This was a tiny window for people to get good rates for Nightmares. Big deal. These crazy people act like missing out on high chance to get a Nightmare undermines the value of the overpriced packs they bought. First of all anytime you buy a key you know **** well you're taking a gamble. For you to come here and whine about how much you spent is gambler's remorse. You paid to support Cryptic, and that's where your money went; this is the decision they made.
If there is a special event tomorrow where you can get a one of a kind item, does missing it give you the right to act like Cryptic murdered your mom?
Get a clue, Cryptic is perfectly justified in saying enjoy the spoils of our mistake without having to cater to a sea of idiots with inflated senses of entitlement.

If you go to Vegas, blow your money on Roulette, and feel bad that is "gambler's remorse". If the next day all the tables are rigged to come up red, and many of the players know about it, bet red, win and the casino congratulates them on their "luck", that has nothing to do with "gambler's remorse".

You seem to think people knew that the bug would be live. And when it went live, Cryptic took it down immediately, and fixed it in like an hour. Walk on.

Too late, the longer they go the less likely it will happen.
During a brief period of time after Fury of the Feywild was live, the success rate for getting the elusive Heavy Inferno Nightmare Mount was higher than expected and we were glad to see some lucky players be rewarded. From this point on, we do not plan on performing any rollbacks and we've made the necessary adjustments going forward. If you received a Heavy Inferno Nightmare Mount during this time, enjoy it!
Sincerely,
Pin

They did know, many people knew from the test server and took advantage. Were you in game this morning when it was happening? It wasn't like 'oh it looks like a few more people are getting lucky today' it was like 'wow I can't read anything except mount spam from the same people over and over' There was clear premeditation and planning and massive amounts of mounts were made, not a 'lucky few'
It was up for 15 minutes, your world isn't ending.

And i'm pretty sure all the people complaining in this thread happily exploit dungeons every day. Why don't you make 150 page posts to say how bad this is and complain about less than a thousand "special" mounts in the game?
So, when other people exploit, it's bad, but when you exploit, it's ok? Double standards, i like that.
Today after patch a massive exploit occured in which nightmare boxes were raining heavy inferno nightmares
During this occurrence I passed on the idea of buying keys as I thought there would be a rollback, and that the exploiters would lose out on the situation (regaining keys, having spent the zen).
This did not happen.. now there are a ton of nightmares on the servers.. and those of us who didn't take advantage of the situation are left with nothing while those who exploited are sitting on several mounts each (in many cases).
Lesson : exploit everything in this game and profit
Seriously, if you're going to do this you need to give all current active accounts one nightmare in their account mailbox or something.
I understand, I was being a little Facetious regarding what I posted. If Cryptic really wanted too they could implement a rollback to appease one group of players who are upset about this bug only to cause an uprising out of another group of players upset over losing what they gained.
Let's see.... other MMOs have ways of retrieving stolen goods from players without rollbacks. They could just code the ill gotten items as broken or delete them from ones that got them wrongly. There are other answers to the situation that would not harm others who were not involved.
How does this effect anyone's ability to play the game? Oh Wait! It doesn't! So who cares. I paid well over $300 to open boxes and get my 3 mounts and guess what I feel the same way as the OP - Enjoy your mounts for those quick enough to take advantage of a "game Developer error" this wasn't a hack by users it was something in the game they forgot to fix and many knew about from the test shard and once the patch went live they confirmed it wasn't fixed and jumped on the opportunity. Don't blame the players for this because you failed to do it yourself at the end of the day I don't think anyone will care in a week or two if anything if you really want one of these they should be quite affordable on the AH soon so take advantage of that!

This sounds an awful lot like a thief saying they shouldn't be blamed because a door was left unlocked. "What was I supposed to do, *not* exploit? Pshaw...
What Cryptic has done here, by not taking appropriate action, is to encourage future exploiters to milk the game for all it's worth, as there will be no repercussions. And for those of you who got your Nightmares legitimately... suckers!

They just have absolutely no credibility in any way. They did a rollback once when there was the AD exploit. And the only reason they did a rollback on that is because they were losing money, so "OH MY GOD FIX THAT NOW".
But with this exploit they made money, probably quite a bit. Hilariously though, I don't think they understand how done this game will be as a cause of that, resulting in WAY more loss of money than what they gained.

Yeah but again, that post just had a few pictures without any description. There's no proof it was the same bug. No one posts the link because they know it's a weak argument to support their tin hat theory.

It's really to bad, was a fun game
Wow I didn't know about this earlier exploit/rollback.... So they have the means to do so, they are just choosing not to because 'those lucky few' splurged on keys this morning and made hundreds/thousands of dollars worth of nightmares to hoard/sell at a later date.

I was on today when it all went down. It wasn't as extreme as everyone is making sound. I was still able to talk quite effectively in zone chat without getting spammed, and while playing tonight I didn't see ANYONE riding a nightmare. *shrug*

A) Somebody randomly stumbled upon that picture only after this snafu happened?
A healthy subset of the gaming community knew about this during testing and one of them knew where to find the post from Aug 16th.
Bear in mind, it is not allowed to post the actual exploit in the forums. If you seriously believe people were not aware of the exploit and waiting for it go to live, I have some great land on Mt. Hotenow to sell you.
