I won't act like must people here, but I have spent 15 dollars (i know this isn't much) or so on lockboxes, and it really isn't fair to people. I will still continue playing your game cuz I enjoy it, but I will really try hard not to spend anything on lockboxes from now on.
Edit: After being a long time sub MMO player, I have grown to love the free to play. I feel like I have a life now not a second job. Stuff like this is what gives free to play a bad name. I do really enjoy your game, and instead of finally getting my mount this pay, I am now spending that money on a new goalies helmet. Don't worry I will get a mount for xmas
It's an elegant way to admit that they made a mistake, what while unintended, still favored people who had zen to spend, and was looking in the right direction. Because in reality everyone had the chance to benefit, from the guy who doesn't even knew what he does, and opened a box, to the other who knowing the test server actually tested the system for it, including those who haven't had the zen or AD, but had the means to buy it with cash ... I think a rollback would have been just as questionable, if not more than what they have decided to do.
Whatever we deny or embrace, we belong togheter./ Pat Benatar
I'm so glad to see a mountain of other people leaving this game... Hopefully enough people leave to teach the devs a good lesson.
Don't care about the players and they will leave.

I know it is my own stupid fault for not researching it originally but I spent about $80 on keys to get my 1st Nightmare to only find out it was player bound not account bound. Like I said my fault for not researching but I only did thinking I could get a mount that was usable on all my characters. I could have purchased 2 purple mounts usable on all my characters for that money.
Guess I should have saved up and exploited.
Sad sad sad.

I don't think so, given that this was a known bug from the preview server. At the very least it's grossly negligent and unfair to the players who are playing legit.

You could also have bought one on the AH for less than $80, I think, in Zen. But that doesn't impact the problem with not undoing this exploit.
WTS/B Cryptic to a non-Asian or a company that cares a lot more then the top droller they can get.But still know how to keep and run a game. Not saying charity at all just not this. I even bet you some PWE hold Cryptic back tell after this to fix it.
I might just try WoW again it a good game even if it a P2P one .
Oh, and if they Devs want actual suggestions on how to make things better, try not letting it get to this point first. Try thinking ahead to the negative repercussions of siding with an bug that was exploited to a ridiculous level within a short time frame in the first place. Try using good moral judgement when making a call on "what's best for the game" clearly, this one was a mistake.
Nothing can bring me back to this game, the damage has been done and no hand-outs or freebies are going to fix it for me. They've shown where their priorities lie and it isn't with honest game play.
If there's anyway that can be saved from this, maybe give them a free upgrade to a 110% mount and a pile of AD. Compensate them on average for what the exploiters got to have based on previous market value of the mounts they've all but stolen, not the diluted garbage that's there now.
A cape for surviving the event, vanity most likely to swap the image of, and a custom title.
And maybe admit that you were wrong? Apologize to the people you've morally slapped in the face by siding with people who made you money, either directly or indirectly. Admit that you've been selfish and you'll learn and grow from it.
Anything short of that should make an honest person runs for the hills.

Perhaps people should mention this and the previous exploits not dealt with .... very well .... to people like Wizards of the Coast who Cryptic has to purchase the license from for the game.
They may be interested in all of this......who knows

I'm a VERY long time dnd player and even know some of the authors from attending GENcon every year. I'm going to do just this....
I'm writing to them and letting WOTC know how cryptic is filthying up the DND brand name. This whole situation is disturbing to honest gamers everywhere. WOTC (wizards of the coast) will NOT be happy about this situation. We will see what Mike Mearls thinks about this.

Hey, it's not my fault you guys can't stand some competition. I don't care how many of my posts you delete. I think people deserve to be aware that they have some options, if you don't then that's no skin off my back. Just money out of your pocket

Me and my wife both bought 20 dollars worth of keys to open all the lock boxes we had collected on our way to level 60, we opened them all yesterday. We got nothing worth anything at all.
Then this morning I log in and watch my screen spammed forever with people getting the mount, some getting it a dozen times in a row, my chat log never not scrolling down with mounts. i saw more people get mounts in that short while than I have in the whole time I've played the game, and it was already going on when I logged in. There must be atleast 5 times as many mounts out there now as there were yesterday and they are in the hands of a few, most like gold selling exploiters. All within a night of me and my wife wasting money when it would be a 'sure thing' the next day. We both are founders, we bought have bought zen, we got both 60 dollar packs. we are fortunate to have money to waste, most people don't. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I spent hundreds of dollars on zen just for keys and never got a mount and then logged in this morning and saw what the exploiters were getting. I would be demanding my money back and refuting all charges with my bank if I cared, which I don't.
But I definitely feel like I won't bother buying any form of keys for this game ever again. Call me a troll or whatever, but between the wife and I we've spent over 800 dollars on this game cause we like it and wanted the conveniences offeres , not to pay-to-win, but just to have some cool unique stuff and try our hand in playing/understanding the economy(a main feature of any MMO) of the game with some starting cash.
But now its clear our "unique"s aren't unique and there is nothing to understand about the game's economy outside of that it is broken, flooded with a bunch of illegitimate copies of the 'MOST COVETED MOUNT' floating around. Couple that with a real-life-cash-to-in-game-cash exchange system this just makes obtaining a nightmare mount a HAMSTER nightmare of buying zen, converting to ingame currency and finding an exploiter/gold spammer to buy the mount off.
At this point it is painfully obvious that Cryptic NEEDS TO GET RID OF THE LOCK BOX/KEY SYSTEM AND JUST PUT ALL MOUNTS/PETS ON THE ZEN STORE FOR STRAIGHT UP CASH.
A crappy gambling system that has been proven to be exploitable is just a recipe for failure and a open door to a flood of customer distrust. People will be much more weary to spend real cash money on something that has no security or stability to it.
With a real life cash system the items in the game need to remain secure and relatively equal in value or NO ONE WILL HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE SYSTEM. If anyone can just obtain a dozen of the rarest item in a game by taking advantage of exploits with no repercussions any cash shop involved is doomed to fail.

Can we get an official answer if this rule was violated today?
(l) Using or exploiting any bugs, errors, or design flaws to obtain unauthorized access to the Service or to gain an unfair advantage over other players
I feel like players who got 10+ nightmares in less that 50 lockboxes had an unfair advantage over those who had to open 200+ just to get one.
Curse of the Sorceress:NW-DL35CQ9ET Eligible for Daily Foundry! (Approx. 50 min adventure to defeat the evil Sorceress)
Dodgeball:NW-DR9U49EM6 (Approx. 15 min dodgeball tournament against ranged enemies)
Farming Fiesta:NW-DJL23IH7G (Approx. 30-45 min map for farming items and experience)

exploiting has to do with the lockboxes. Or did the mounts appear magicly?

whoever made that "brilliant" decision needs escorted out the door.
and done....call me a tattletail or whatever but I went ahead and emailed Mike Mearls (lead developer for dnd) and let him know how cryptic is filthying up the brand name. I don't like my precious dnd being associated with money grubbing, and exploiter supporting. Mike won't like it either because it's his baby. Cryptic won't answer to me but they sure as hell can answer to Dnd's marketing and publicity dept. WOTC didnt sell the licence to have their brand name pooped on.

I agree that the exploit should not have been supported and should be rolled back.
But ... these mounts have always been sold for AD on the AH, and therefore buyable by Zen generally for much less Zen than the cost of buying enough keys to open enough boxes to get one under RNG.

In any game, people expect fairness within the context of the rules. If I play poker for hard candies or for a $1000 buy-in, I still do not like a cheater in my game.

Maybe the staff at PWE need a refreshing on there Terms of Service because you have no right to enforce some rules but not others at your leisure. I shall quote it again:
10. User Conduct
You must observe these Terms, all Rules of Conduct, all applicable laws and all basic rules of etiquette and common courtesy when using the Website and the Service. Any conduct that violates the law in an offline, real world community is also a violation of these terms. PWE will not tolerate any illegal or offensive conduct.
Without limiting the foregoing, in addition to the User Content rules set forth in Section 10 above, you agree not to take any of the following actions:
(k) Cheat or utilize unauthorized exploits in connection with the Games or the Service;
(l) Using or exploiting any bugs, errors, or design flaws to obtain unauthorized access to the Service or to gain an unfair advantage over other players
And I know ambisinisterr your just trying to keep your mod job but you gotta step in, if your on our side this is just like letting out governments and police forces push us around they are all big corporations in the end.
