Lol Everquest had more than a million on the first day. So many people tried to login at once it killed the internet on the west coast killing ATM's and banks for the day. Was before WoW. Unfortunately it was too challenging for 8 year olds so blizzard made WoW
Actually didn't it had around 225,000 subscriptions on 11/1999. At the time it was huge number for a game to have.

for the people who play the other games this company runs, do the servers just go down like this alot?
150K ain't ****. Takes 1 million to be a M(ASSIVELY)mo. Thus, wow was first. But thank you for playing.
yeah and World of Tanks says they have 10 million people playing but last time i logged on there where only 10k+ listed so try again with your WoW bull**** somwhere Else little should have been a *******.
What I want to know is why creation date is so important? Comparing and contrasting past products is good as it allows for growth into something better sure, but what really matters is the quality of the game. The reason we all get pissed off when someone says "WOW was the FIRST" is because we have had better experiences earlier in the history of the medium and thus WoW doesn't fit into the comparisons/competition of its predecessors. It doesn't matter that WoW hit a certain number, what bothers us all is that Mediocrity beat out Genius. We should be banding together against wow my brothers, not taking down our weakest neighbors! K?
I watched an Asian set the world record speedrun for the game Zelda: Majora's Mask while the games been down. I think you guys need an Asian on this server problem.

No one seems to realize that the people saying WoW is the first MMO are trolling...and you are all feeding them. *claps* Good job.
I assume they were from Beholder, because they were trolling zone chat with that earlier.
(however, there really are dumb people who think WoW did a lot of things first. Which is just depressing. You're on the internet, is it that ahrd to look things up?))

Hell, most people didn't know what the interwebz were in '91.
Not to mention people could actually spell back then...
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev
