So will we really have an archer class, then? Yay!

I would like to see a paladin, too,
though with our version of cleric's strange self heals that don't seem to do too much for self-healing, I have to wonder if a paladin would be effective in this game.
Maybe the self-heal reduction won't apply for paladin, if it uses mainly HoTs to survive?

Also a summoner class would be interesting, too,
or maybe the ranger/archer will have a pet, or something, like in Guild Wars 1 or 2?

To all the people who want/are looking forward to being a druid: Boy are you going to be surprised! :D

I think you might not be getting what you are expecting with it in 4th edition.

Actually, the original D&D had exactly four classes. T$R made bank on it. However, tying bits of other posts in here: A fighter should be a fighter. His or her FEATS should make him a "guardian" or a "great weapon fighter". The difference between members of the same class should be based on player selected individual items.

As for classes, I also want a paladin, or a melee cleric. And why tiefling but no aasimar?

Aasimar... Well something funky happened with them. They are now purple and bald and literally have an ongoing, nearly schizophrenic relationship with every other Aasimar who has ever been...

Maybe but right not right now. Now races I go for like a Vampire like race.

You're kidding right? Kindly tell me why having another 2 or 3 classes right now would be a bad thing...

As for more races, I'm not against it. But there are more races than classes.

When the game was first announced they showed off the fighter, cleric, wizard, rogue, and ranger (with a bow). It's obviously coming.

Personally, I have my fingers crossed for the Bard class. Quite curious as to how they'd implement it into this game.

Three thing come to mind when talking about more classes then we all have .

    1) Dev time to make them that could be put in to bug fixing and other stuff.
    2) It be easier on new player who don't know what they what or what to do.
3)We haven't gone to OB and most are asking for more stuff.

I think we will see a battle cleric at some point. It just makes too much sense.

For discussions sake lets look at some possibilities. The base classes already in the game will be highlighted in plum.

Currently we have 1 Divine, 3 Martial, and 1 Arcane Class Build. We also have 2 Defenders, 1 Leader, 1 Controller, and 1 Striker.

    Player's Handbook Classes
    Cleric : Divine - Leader
    Fighter: Martial - Defender
    Paladin: Divine - Defender
    Ranger: Martial - Striker
    Rogue: Martial - Striker
    Warlock: Arcane - Striker
    Warlord: Martial - Leader
    Wizard: Arcane - Controller

    Player's Handbook 2 Classes
    Avenger: Divine - Striker
    Barbarian: Primal - Striker
    Bard: Arcane - Leader
    Druid: Primal - Controller
    Invoker: Divine - Controller
    Shaman: Primal - Leader
    Sorcerer: Arcane - Striker
    Warden: Primal - Defender

    Player's Handbook 3 Classes
    Ardent: Psionic - Leader
    Battlemind: Psionic - Defender
    Monk: Psionic - Striker
    Psion: Psionic - Controller
    Runepriest: Divine - Leader
    Seeker: Primal - Controller

    Eberron Player's Guide Class
    Artificer: Arcane - Leader

    Forgotten Realms Player's Guide Class
    Swordmage: Arcane - Defender

    Dragon Magazine Class
    Assassin: Shadow - Striker

    Heroes of Shadow Class
    Vampire: Shadow - Striker

Warlock and Ranger are all but a given at this point, I'd say...

That'd put us at 2 Def, 1 Leader, 1 Controller, and 3 Strikers. So after that, I'd expect to see a leader and/or controller class. Druid, I think, has been one of the most commonly asked for controllers. I'd love to see that. Paladin for our 3rd defender, maybe? Bard would be a nice Leader option, though we could end up seeing Warlords first.

I don't think we ever see 28 classes for this game maybe 10-15 max.

I hope we do see 28, that would be freaking awesome! Talk about player diversity. If they could pull that off it would not matter if all of one class were alike, there would be so many classes you would rarely see two in the same place.

Also, IMO the first 2 PHB classes + FR Swordmage would still be amazing.

If they waited until they had ALL of the classes done, the game would come out some time after 5e. And then die because there wasn't new stuff coming out.

I'd far rather see 5 very well developed classes at launch, and then a steady trickle of similar-quality classes come out over the life of the game.

That would be amesome and as many(or close to it) races to choose from.

I don't about the other in this thread I know it not gonig happen so soon or even in a year time maybe 3+ years down the road. I just hope the other can be as realist as me and you(I think they are ).

That's all kind of moot considering the game is live in like 24 hours. Obviously they aren't going to suddenly delay it to add more classes. We are all talking about post launch class additions.

Yeah, I hope the add at last 2-3 classes a year.

    From Andy Velasquez.
There are five classes at launch. Are there any other classes you're working on that you're not prepared to discuss yet?

We've already started work on classes six and seven. In fact, class six was really close to making it for the launch of the game.

One of the things we're trying to do with Neverwinter is to ensure that we don't just put out tons of stuff but put we put out things of high quality. It wasn't that class six wasn't good -- it's actually many of the developers' favorite right now -- but we wanted more time to focus on the launch and make it awesome. We figured that if the classes we released were really good, people would stick around to see what comes later, as opposed to if we put out a bunch of classes that are whatever, then nobody will care when we say that class 10 is coming next month.

    +3 Ranger (no bows, wtf)

More classes, more paragon paths to each class, would be nice to know what kinda paragon paths they even plan for the current classes, as i would assume those could alter the gameplay quite a lot by itself?

Cryptic has a massive pool to pull from for classes. Between the three Player's Handbooks and the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide there are 23 base classes. Now if you add in the Power Source supplement books each base class has roughly 3-4 build options. Just in case someone here isn't aware, Cryptic is using those build options as stand alone classes.

If they add druids I'd personally like to see the Swarm Druid build option. Wild shaping into a swarm of bugs beats the bear/wolf/big-cat you see in other games. I've always enjoyed Psionics, so I'd like so see Psion, Battlemind and Monk. Monk in 4e is a psionic class.

I just personally hope they stick to official classes and avoid using anything from the homebrew sector

Yeah I'm with you there. There are so many choices as is I wouldn't think they would need to go outside the official releases.

The elite Warriors of old were the Fighter classes (archers etc... were peasant bred) and realistically the only ones even remotely similar to RL.
So why not start with two.

Agreed agreed agreed. What is happening??!!??. My dwarf GF cant even get a hold of a good axe. Or use two weapons, or use throwing axes or a crossbow or use one great weapon or don different types of armor, or cant carry more then a rouge even though my str is 25. lol! Bizarro world. Nothing makes any sense. Even when i look at my 4.0 books nothing matches up. Use magic device ability is desperately needed. This topic should never ever ever go away and needs to be bumped everyday if nothing more so we dont get confused about what D&D is or what a good portion of the player base EXPECTS from this game.
