The elite Warriors of old were the Fighter classes (archers etc... were peasant bred) and realistically the only ones even remotely similar to RL.
So why not start with two.

Agreed agreed agreed. What is happening??!!??. My dwarf GF cant even get a hold of a good axe. Or use two weapons, or use throwing axes or a crossbow or use one great weapon or don different types of armor, or cant carry more then a rouge even though my str is 25. lol! Bizarro world. Nothing makes any sense. Even when i look at my 4.0 books nothing matches up. Use magic device ability is desperately needed. This topic should never ever ever go away and needs to be bumped everyday if nothing more so we dont get confused about what D&D is or what a good portion of the player base EXPECTS from this game.

The only thing I REALLY want is Dragonborn Hexblade Warlock. Just so I can recreate my pen and paper char that I love so much! (even have the name for him saved on another char)

I am seriuesly starting to hate threats like these, no offens OP, but this has been asked over and over. And clearly the game isent ready for it yet, i would love to see what neverwinter u guys are playing, but the one i am playing has only 3 functional characters (GF/GWF are sitting at the bar while the others do dungeons...) has non-working skills/heroic feats/paragon classes, has only 1 paragon path per class. Has exploits/bugs all over the place, has networking and server issue's, has balance issue's, has main gameplay issue's (que system etc).

But yes, lets add another class ore 2 PRONTO ?

I thought D&D players had patience? Ore is this just part of ure roleplay?...

I am not trying to be offensive here, only stating the obviues, and i hope the developers are thinking like me and not like u. If they release archer in the next month it would only mean trickster rogue is out of dungeons (depending how its dps is) and then he could join the tavern fights like GF and GWF....obviuesly i hope more content is added, dont we all, but i am not hoping it is soon....

Well if two classes are sitting at the bar, (although i never have a problem getting into t2 dungeons and finishing them with my GF) then all classes need a drink... yes?

The thing here is, the majority of players haven't experienced any glitches or bugs or balance issues.
Consider that maybe 15% of the total community visits the forums. Then look around and see that only 50% of those are complaining about bugs/glitches/imbalances

That leaves the rest of us, who've had a fun and flawless experience so far. We're excited and loving the game. We want MORE to toy around with and play with and appreciate.

Lol havent experienced bugs ore glitches?....
T2 purples are practicly give away because of the amount of glitch/farming that occured in the last 2 weeks...
Every GF cant aggro adds because of threat issue's (stated by the devs that they are working on it), and if they can keep aggro it is because they builds dps/crit GF, wich totaly defeats the purpose.
GWF is rendered useles because u can toss adds of a cliff and sometimes bosses (they are working that i think looking at the latest patch and the spider change...)

I am not saying i dont enjoy the game, i do and its a lot of fun :D , however my opinion is to make the balance optimal before u try adding more factors into that balance....it is only logic no?

And yes bracer2 u can finish a dungeon with a GF atm, but are u helping ure team? ore are u slowing them down? are u building a aggro/tank build, ore are u going dps fighter build? (and yes going dps fighter build totaly defeats the purpose of this class, and could be done better by another rogue)

Believe it or not some of us actually haven't experience or been affected by a single noteworthy bug.
I get the occasional "Can't access chat on just this character" bugs here and there, but it's insignificant.

I have not experienced bugs or glitches either, save for one time when i fell through a map to the bottom and was unable to get back to playable area. Was the only one. For me the bugs and glitches are in the game design and mechanics.

    Again,
Why cant my dwarf fighter use and axe, or a crossbow, or don any kind of armor??????
These are the bugs and glitches.

This is the design model Cryptic is using. Instead of using Base Classes and having you sub-class as you play (like Rift) the "classes" are the sub classes/build options.
It's not going to change and I personally like this system. It allows me to play the exact way I want to from the start.

Good for you, really i am pleased that some other players agree with the mechanics. BUT.... there is also a player pool that has an actual D&D history and has never heard of "rift" I EXPECT a minimum of certain standards when a game has D&D plastered all over the title.

    Where's the beef?

Ranger, Monk, Paladin, etc... did 4th edition d&d really only have 5 classes cause that would be terribad.

Why make 2 fighter classes, 1 a tank and 1 a dps??? why not do it like d&d should be, I'm a fighter i can grab my shield and sword and tank for you guys or if you want i can grab my 2handed sword and dps.

or hey im a magic user should i memorize my dps spells, or should i focus on bufffing?? etc..

someone please tell me they are going to add the dungeons and dragons classes!

Oh this is a DnD game? I wasn't aware because it doesn't feel like one.

Agreed krumple, and it could fell like one. and should. Right? The thing is with some minor changes i think it really could feel like that. These are the overlooked and ignored serious bugs and glitches.

Personally I want more DnD classes and structure, as is, this game is very very very DnD light, outside of the lore. Actually it feels as if Cryptic Xeroxed Neverwinter Nights a classic BioWare game (that is not a bad thing either, mimicry is good).

For me where is the Sacred Soul, where is the Dragon Disciple, where is the Warlock, where is the Bard and yes give me DnD 2's Druid with Werewolf shape shifter (BG2 looking at you with fond memories). Class structure and theory crafting in this game is not DnD (and is very ultra light) in a long shot. As a side note PvP should "NOT" dictate class balance (they should kept separate), neither complement each other, with PvP just causing lack lustre class diversity. As is, I'm enjoying the game, but as for DnD? well this isn't.

So its just a wash? I refuse to believe that. No idea what all the other game references are as i have religiously given money to TSR/WoC for years on end. Coming from the NWN2 pool im confused and want this game to be everything it SHOULD and COULD be. Many gamers like myself have absolute standards in our minds of a D&D experience and expect those. After 20yrs+ of D&D gaming tabletop or otherwise this topic is the bottom line, for me and many others.

They could put new classes but what i would like to see is to be able to have freeform like in Champions online! That would be awesome but it would not be DnD anymore. Or atleast we should be able to Multi-classing.

But the classes i want to play is probly the next one to comes!! Warlock and ranger! and after im gonna wait for the monk and the bard :)

What ive run into is a mix of hardcore D&D gamers not pleased with the mechanics, and a larger pool of warcraft generation button pushers. These opposing player pools cannot co exist long term imho. Likely the real gamers will be delegated back to NWN2 and the table for there gaming fix and this will become just another warcraft with nothing unique about it.

    I can see this.

For it to be a DnD game it would need at least a multi classing system and the way it is currently designed that would probably be impossible. The true DnD gamers who loved the single player neverwinter nights games enjoyed multi class play because you could squeeze out builds that are so unique they are just enjoyable to play because you got them to work.

This threat is an insult to any player who wants cryptic to release a good game imo.
Demanding characters at this stage, it is insulting and designed to fail.
Get over ureself and see the light, this game doesnt need any more characters for another 4/5 months, until they get major glitches/bugs out, it is not because "i havent experienced any" that they arent ingame and causing seriues issue's for the long term of this game.

Also stating u dont experience any, while they are very real/pressent, and because of this adding new content is "OK" is just insulting to the players experiencing things like server disconnects, instable game loading, video driver issue's, unable to log in errors, etc etc, maybe go read the bug forums before u post things like these and be realistic?

I am in doubt however if somebody with ure self-centered way of thinking wil ever get to terms with that '-.-, go read the bug section and force some sympathy in ure body to come up...

Multiclassing in 4e is simple. Useless, but simple. Instead of taking a paragon path you take a second class. Biggest hurdle I'd guess is working in the synergy from feats and stuff.

I havnt experienced any glitches or bugs, except 1. NWN2 was and is still full of glitches and bugs yet is an actual D&D game. This game has D&D plastered all over the title yet fails at coming close to a D&D game. These are the bugs!. These are the bugs!

Just for arguments sake, what makes NWN2 a D&D game but not Neverwinter?

The rules evil, the mechanics sir. A warrior class needs to be able to equip any kind of armor period. A dwarf has the option to use an axe for christ sake. Casters have ridiculous amounts of spells to choose from. I could go on for days..... AC IS hit or miss. ON and on. Saving throws exist..... None of this exists.

I would love that, especially the shapeshifter (the druid). This would instantly become my "main" character.
They wanted to avoid, at start, to have too many classes that were too much alike to those of WoW
