Hey yah dream catcher! With a MMO environmental all we have to do is build the custom content using foundry. That can be done on the fly (as we do it on my Star Trek Online Guild).
I was just writing Ben accutally. I'll share this information with the community. So that everyone can see how I think it's gonna roll.
Hello Ben,
Star Trek Online was released a year and half ago. I'm currently runing a Star Trek Role Playing Community. STO is one of two releases that Cryptic has made. Cryptic is now working on NWN, so the engines are all similar between Champions Online, Star Trek Online, and now what will be Neverwinter Online.
Star Trek Online features a tool set within it's mmo engine to generate quests, missions, social areas. This nix's the need for developers and essentially allows ever player to make there own areas. In my model for an NWN community. We'll have two forms of leaderships.
Guild Factions which can design there own guild houses and save it to the MMO as quest. That players can take then travel to a specific door the player designates and then your in custom quest instance. The public areas like the INNs' and so on can be just open RP areas in the MMO. The various Guild leaders will control these areas for our RP reasons, (Remember that because MMO is public game we'll have to rp around the non-rper's So we may design additional Channels int he chat client to avoid the HAMSTER.)
Then we can have fixed Game Masters that will run events / champigen / quests on specific days. These are where we'll have the D&D Style adventures. Where we go into dragon caves and so on.
Since it is a MMO we will have no control over levels, and items, and legendary weapons. So at some point everyone is gonna be max level. So that is something we are all just going to have to adjust to as that beyond our ability to control.
You can view my Star Trek Online community as an example of an RP Community I intend to build. My website wills how you tons of logs, short stories, and up to date storyline. My fleet has 4 starships in it, each with a Story Master, Captain, and crew.
My ship the USS Okinami, I play as guild faction leader, as well as senior admin that deals with mostly disciplinary stuff. My character is Captain Honda and my group meets on friday nights 11:55 Eastern Standard Time.
I'll be definitely looking forward to NGC further along as more information come for NWO. Its safe to say that (at least in my opinion) that classes included in the player handbook 1 and 2 will in the game. You can count on me as one of the players for your faction from a pompous paladin to a brooding yet heart of gold warlock
Hey everyone. A bunch of us are playing on NWN1 as away to form a community. I invite anyone else looking to get into some rp. You can e-mail me at ryokohonda83@gmail.com
I can give you more direct directions how to join up with us. We are mostly a Eastern Standard Time Zone PM Crew.

Let me see if I understand what you´re trying to create. A community composed of different themed guilds, oriented to RP.Obviously, since you started with the idea, you´ll be the, let´s say "Council Leader".
Did I get it right?
If so, I´m interested, and you have My full support on this, Lady.
I´d like to sign up as an story teller and also a player (obviously). That can be made? Also, I´d like to know more about the sstory tellers duties.
I haven't read this entire thread, but if Heartshakerr's summary is accurate I support the idea. I'm going to post something on mercenary legion asking everone what they think. I myself am very interested in the idea.
I come from a long playing time of D&D gaming--from the little red box to the fourth edition of today. I've also seen many MMORPG games come and go, including Star Wars Galaxies or SWG (which I'd like to forget gladly with Bioware's better The Old Republic offering,) and Dungeons and Dragons Online or DDO (which was a good attempt but flawed and now 3rd edition which is an edition behind as commercially released games go...I'm a lot more forgiving with PW's which are by their mod making a lot more flexible in upgrading...but I digress.)
I've also played other tabletop and online games, and have decided since a long while back that I like roleplaying best--Coming up with characters their history, their strengths and flaws and their short and long term goals.
I don't (necessarily) prefer the DM full control, but have no problem with supporting a world in its development through my contributions when possible.
With that in mind, my favorite (and strongest) character archtype or class is the wizard. Generally, I prefer the generalist or "Arcanist" over the specialist (or now known as "mage," or "witch," and sometimes I do enjoy playing a bladesinger, but again, that's another topic....)
Since the subject of "Black Magic" by Vecna702 was brought uup, I'd be glad to offer my services with how I can help on the "conventional" wizard's side.
BTW Vecna702, an excellent article regarding the "Born from Shadow" and more specificly the "Student of Evard" theme for arcanists was published in Dragon #400 for D&D insiders. When it comes to dark magics and necromancy [without necessarily being a necromancer,] there is no one better (or more dangerous with such forbidden knowledge) then Evard (short of Vecna of course .)
I've PM'ed you the relevant information.
To all, let me know if you have any questions or comments, and 'tis my pleasure to have met you all. Well met and a good 'morrow t' all!
I haven't played D&D since high school, which for me was in the late 1980s. So I will play this game when it come out. Wouldn't mind doing some serious role playing with it too.:)

Thank you for respecting the "character" of the game. So many are worrying about the stats and power, they think epeen is RP!
The Yew Militia is following this game and we will have (some) members who will play the game. In every game our guild had a chapter active, we were involved with the Roleplaying Community. We are happy to help out where we can in Neverwinter.
We do not know enough yet to outline our guild for this game. We might stick to our guildname, but we can also go with a more lore appropiate name. For example in Age of Conan we were known as the Nemedian Legion and in Rift we formed the Yew Tree Brigade. While in Darkfall we are active under our good ol' name the Yew Militia.
Howdy all. good luck to you guys, and gals! I have been RPing since 1st edition... mid 1970s. Have played all but 4e. Will always call those in the RP community friends.
I think E3 will uncover finally all those details we seek. That's the World Series for gamers. If Neverwinter is a reality for 2012, we'll know it for sure by the end of this convention.

Good Evening,
For those who are currently involved in another cryptic game. I've started a channel called the NGC OOC
It's public channel one you can connect to easily. Soon as I get some more details I'll be setting up a forum to centralizes our RP Community. As well as beginign rolling admissions for leaderships.
Hello Honda. It's Ben, we've talked a number of times over Google talk. I would recommend checking out using Enjin in order to build a solid RP community. A number of people already use it, and it has an amazing amount of freedom and functionality to it. It's what I used to build the RP community for Funcom's upcoming MMO "The Secret World". http://tsw-rp.enjin.com/

Oh! Also, I saw this thread http://forums.playneverwinter.com/showthread.php?t=3531
It´s about a Mercenary themed guild.Perhaps his/her creator would like to join this project?
Thank you for your time. Have a nice day !

Noticed your question. It's not being released until late 2012, so asking where the downloader for this game is not a practical one at the moment.

Just letting everyone know. I am certainly looking forward to NWN!
Same question here.
