Well they announced they are in fact working on a new class.
    This is awesome.
Could my personal dream of rolling a Druid in neverwinter come true ????
No more will I be jealous of Archdruid Morningdawn or those Malar cultists of the undermountain, Random NPCS or the little Moonshae Druid companion!

Don’t mind me. Excited at the prospect of playing a class I’ve wanted since elemental evil 😀

my top 2 wanted classes are Bard and Artificer. Both would likely be dps/healer roles, with bard being heavy on group buffs for support and artificer choosing between healing turrets and devices or MAGIC LASERS AND CHAINGUNS
  • ankhseramcurse#7910 ankhseramcurse Member Posts: 6 Arc User
Yeah Ive been hoping for an Artificer or Alchemist healer that could have skill that amps & makes use of health potions to splash heal party or maybe an aerosol that spreads it around
    Would make Alchemy really useful

Mad Scientist with an Igor as companion.
I do believe in killing the messenger...
    Want to know why?
    Because it sends a message!

This thread has gone a long way! If you browse through all the pages in this thread, you will see "Necromancers" coming up at least once or several times on one page. Take some notes ;)

Hello, i want as new class the "Dark Knight" (my favourite class!)
    d&d wiki class page: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Dark_Knight_(5e_Class)
this class can be for example an opposite of the "holy" paladin and tank warrior.
Weapons: dark sword and shield or dark two handed greatsword with a small shield attached to the left arm(i prefer the second) (the dark sword is a dark element weapon stronger than warrior's classic swords)
Main powers Element: Darkness (opposite of holy)
    default armor: black armor.
Paragons: main paragon: dps, secondary: tank
Powers: dark attacks, encounter with some very powerful attacks that sacrifice some of your own hp to deal heavy damage.
I think this is a cool new class to add because the actual sword and shield class are not mainly dps classes, the warrior have dps paragon but it's mainly a tank, and because there are not melee class that have dark attacks (only warlock but it's ranged class).

We already have plenty of classes that use magic and weapons already, it's time we had a martial arts class so "Monk" it is than.
  • jorsjjorsj Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 21 Arc User
Would be nice if in the next modules instead of adding quest/campaigns they add classes people want, like Druid, Necromancer, Dark knight, Monk !

Something different from the current 3 choice role meta - A buff class. Suggestions: Zero cool down buff that places 4 orbs around the player and while they are active everybody within range has massive power boost (AA). Single Target difficult to aim on console Damage buff, A small aoe heal that pings but also buffs the group, and a couple of single target boss debuff options. There you go practically designed the class for you. :-)

I really want an unarmed monk, and a sling for a secondary attack. The main equipment slot can be an item that give damage bonus etc, and function like the 2 hander's secondary weapon slot "the sword tassel" it is not visible so much as its just stat boosting. The secondary slot can be the sling, and the bullets could easily do concussive damage ie slow/dazzle/stun over consecutive use. The main attacks of course would be unarmed strikes that could build ki/chi for greater damage etc. The skills could easily be flurry of blows for high damage single target, and stunning blow for stuns etc, maybe some kicks that do aoe,a sweep attack that knocks down/back multiple enemies. The daily skill could easily be quivering palm "high single target damage" or some kind of cleaving flurry of blows, or a flurry of blows in multiple directions that hits multiple enemies in a cone, or radius around the player for decent aoe damage. The tab ability could be a ki/chi focus to get defense or attack bonus, maybe even use the still mind/perfect body skills etc. I know it probably wont be exactly like that, but i hope its something close to that while still being able to preform in the game engine limits. I do know that i don't want staves, or nunchuku, or anything like that, that's too generic of exotic culture, I would much rather they go for what makes monks so special, their unarmed abilities, and ki feats that allow them to achieve ethereal body etc.

Before thinking about new class, current classes should be solid. Wizard, for example. The arcanist paragon seems unfinished and the thaumaturge is wet powder.

Welcome to the New Class(es) Feedback Thread!

    8G2d4gG.gif

Which one of the following Classes would you like to see next in Neverwinter the most?

The choices presented to you are:
Barbarian, Bard, Druid, Monk, and Sorcerer. If you wish, you may select "Something else.." and let us know!

    8G2d4gG.gif

As much in the D&D Universe has and is changing, and we now have 5th edition and the Forgotten Realms being the core of the D&D Universe, the poll options have been updated to reflect current core source material for D&D Next, a.k.a. "5th Edition."

The following are 5th edition classes that do not yet exist as player classes in Neverwinter but do exist as core playable classes in 5th edition source material. While this list is not necessarily a complete list, it holds true to the core classes that hold the most likelihood to be seen translated into Neverwinter. If your most desired class isn't on this list, please choose one from this list that you'd like to see the most or select "Something else.." and then let us know your other class wish in the comments below.

This thread and "The "New Race(es)" Feedback Thread" are each respectively recreated when a new Race or Class is added to the game. Creating additional threads on New Classes and Races will summarily be closed. Please use these threads to discuss and purvey your feedback on New Classes and Races not yet in the game.

Disclaimer: This is by no means meant to be any sort of confirmation or sign for what is in store next for Neverwinter. Furthermore, this poll isn't on classical classes, it is based off of 5th Edition core rules. I was specifically asked to stick with 5th edition in this and the race poll as Wizards of the Coast (and notable authors) have been taking a more hands-on role with Neverwinter.

Choose wisely. Now discuss your choice here, should you so choose.

I didn't realize at first how old this thread was. Shouldn't a new Thread have been started so that only relevant choices could be given? We already have the Barbarian, which was converted from the Great Weapon Fighter. That was one of the early suggestions.

Soon there will be module 20 related to the Sharandar campaign, and this is elves, nature and wild animals. This is the best moment for a new class to appear in the game - the Druid.

I would welcome a new class, but not holding my breathe. They haven't given a new class since the paladin...5+ years ago?

Rather than a new class, I'd rather the classes in the game get more options. I found a couple player's handbooks (PHB) online because I was curious if an Encounter Power my class has could be found in the PHB because it didn't seem like an Encounter Power name the class ought to have and I was going to suggest renaming it. Browsing through that class's chapter I was amazed how many more options there are for Utility Powers, At-wills, Encounter Powers and Daily Powers. I've never played D&D but I can't help but wish Neverwinter was more like what I read. From what I found there are 8 classes in 4th edition, and 12 classes in 5th edition. As Neverwinter already has 7 of the classes from 4th edition (Warlord seems to be the only class that did not transition to Neverwinter, but instead there is a Barbarian), I see no need for a 9th class.

Below are the links I found for anybody else who either hasn't seen a PHB before or not know of one online.

    4th edition:

    and 5th edition:

Three classes that are missing that are classic D&D are Druid (Could make it a 3rd Paragon class of Cleric), Bard (We do have a minstrel companion) but what would the paragons be? A musical type would be more for party support healing regeneration combat/defense buff, but the other path is more of being a Loremaster which does not really fit well into current game design.

Lastly is the Monk Class where I can see 3 possible paragons: A Tank focused on toughness and defence...Staff Primary weapon, and 2 DPS class with the stealth Ninja class and more shaolin open hand style.

As only time to recharge powers is how spell casters cast spells, Sorcerer basically already exists. Wizards would have to recharge spells daily in D&D where as Sorcerers had fewer spells but could cast them far more often. Wizards in NW don't actually learn new spells, the acquire them much the way sorcerers do so they already exist n the game as wizards...That being said how about a Summoner class Paragons being the Necromancer (focus on summing and animating the dead), and Arcane Summoner (summons creatures from the outer planes to do his bidding)

We know the new class will have a dps option. Personally still hoping for druid. a DPS class for druid specifically could be shapeshfting or spellcasting. If the other option is healer, i wonder if it will be similar to the circle of the shepherd in 5e.
  • callumf#9018 callumf Member Posts: 1,710 Arc User

This thread is already 3 years old. There is no hope left for a new class.

Funnily enough I was only thinking this right now.

Its a great place to come for wistful thinking :)

I’m still thinking it’s gonna be Bard with healer/dps for paragons
