I'm sure I'm showing my 4E bias here, but we need epic destinies! Being level 70 doesn't just mean you do any ol' quest, it means you're one bada-errr nevermind.
Epic destinies! Make it happen. Power creep is best creep.
I am curious to know how your role of Lead will differ from Scott Shicoff's, who from my perspective is only memorable for eschewing an almost no communications policy and an apparent disregard for the playerbase.
In March Rob Overmeyer said . . .
Another key area for us is communication with our community. We are looking at additional ways to show our progress or create direct lines of communication back to our players whether it be through additional dev blogs or in-game activities. We will be working on a way to give the community a clearer picture of what we are working on and what we understand the top issues to be.
How, if at all, will you be implementing this? I really do hope your vision for the game becomes a reality but history has shown that sometimes words are just that, words, with very little action associated with them.

What are your thoughts on power creep? Right now the difference between a well geared (and well build and well played) character compared to a more "average" build is literally an order of magnitude.
Right now you can see one player out damage the top 4 others combined in places like eDemo. Or players soloing epic dungeons. Is this the sort of scaling you intend for the game? Specifically at issue seems to be certain power combinations, with various classes have their "golden build" that vastly outperforms others. There's also certain item combinations... the pre-fix lostmauth set comes to mind; but still in the game are things like the shadow demon / owlbear cub, which have certain interactions which seem to not be working as intended (or at least, not to scale with other companions). Another example would be bonding stones which carry a very high price, but eventually bring *significant* benefits beyond any "regular" runestones.
Related to power creep are also the campaigns; with each giving ~1K stat points, ~1-3K HP; and some other utility choices... but since we're now sitting on 7(!) campaigns [Sharandar, Maze Engine, Dread Ring, Elemental Evil, Icewind Dale, Tyranny of Dragons, Storm King Thunder] the baseline for stats keeps bumping up... and each time the old content then becomes a little more trivial.
The most obvious impact of all this is on PvP; where tenacity gear is thrown into the mix as well... leading to undergeared players being *quite literally* useless against well geared ones.
their is nothing wrong with people being more powerful then others. soloing dungeons even epic ones is perfectly fine. anyone can use any build they want and copy others if they choose, my build i made myself is based on soloing; whats wrong with wanting to solo stuff? pvp will always be unbalanced, or at least that is my take on it. if your an average player or casual and put in a few or some hours into the game you can only get a fraction as far as to those who play for several hours or all day long. i know quite a few serious players who put in almost as many hours as me to as many hours as me. when hitting end game content the only thing left is to grind, improve your character, and have fun the way you want. if you want to be the best tank or healer or dps you find a way to make yourself that. the boons for the campaigns don't do much, they are helpful but in the end they only help your character maybe 10+ percent, some companions are superior to others while if sued right any companion can make you a great asset to any team, bonding are meant to be an awesome runestone for your companion; augment companions need a buff so they can be on par or less superior to bonding; since bonding proc's can be hard to get off.
the reason why some players out dps others is probably cause the other players are less geared or weaker in dps. lets take a normal 5 man team. you have 1 tank 1 healer and 3 dps. the healer will make bottom on dps the tank will be in 4th place; lets say all the dps are all exactly 3k item lvl and theirs a gwf, tr, and hr. first place will go to the gwf who focused on pure dps and strong dps, second place will go to the tr who had 40% less dps then the gwf, the hr focuses on control and high dps being only 5% less then the tr. do you see anything wrong? i dont since gwf do massive damage and tr's and hr's are also great for damage. lets say the gwf has 70k-80k power while the tr and hr have about 30k-40k power stats in any mmorpg can make your character a boss and its fun to make strong cool characters.
Question: As a player with visual impairments (20/200 vision in both eyes) can those of us (persons with varying degrees of visual impairments) FINALLY get some dev to work with us on improvements to the game to help us? Like with Bryn Shander even though I never saw how the blizzards were before the recent fix, it's still too much for some of us. How about giving us an option in the graphic settings to turn off environment effects?
I know some will make an argument that unless it makes Cryptic/PWE money, it won't happen - but maybe if you make changes that will benefit certain players ability to "play" the game they might be more willing to spend money.

power creep should be adressed. this game pvp is esport style, esport is always balanced. if you want have several times stronger toons then others, find no esport style pvp game (BDO, ESO)
Soloing Dungeons is totally WRONG and shouldn't be possible at all.
then that is just your opinion. in many games not just this one, if you build your character right you can solo a great deal; now i am not saying you can solo a 10 man or 25 man epic dungeon, but a simple 5 man epic dungeon like mc or certain 5 man he's are game mechanic wise soloable. and this is not just my opinion but my gaming experience that in many mmorpgs where numbers are everything that's how it works, if you numbers are high enough their is a great deal you can do.
the game is very barely based on D&D terms and in D&D their are a great deal of roleplays for soloing and in any mmorpg their are a greater deal of soloable content.
if a 5 man heroic encounter was made unsoloable then a 5 man epic dungeon should be unsoloable. what you are asking then is that anything that requires a party should require a party. the devs would have to change about 40% of this game then. instead of putting resources where they are more needed then thinking about how to make epic dungeons unsoloable. then we can go into thinking about 3 man dungeons that are not epic; are you then asking the devs to make it so lvl scaling works better? their are certain quests in game that are not easily soloable, should the devs then look at that?
pve wise the game is fine, perfectly fine in fact (yes their are some unbalanced things but the devs are getting to it). it is in my opinion that soloing an epic dungeon is perfectly fine as long as you geared your character for soloing and enjoy soloing. their may not be a lot of players on this game who like playing alone but i have seen quite a few in my years of playing this; some people just want to be left alone and do their own thing and have fun their own way. yes some dungeons are built unsoloable but its the fun in a challenge that gets people to do better.
theirs nothing wrong with having a good party and running some fun dungeons together, but if i want to solo a dungeon cause i find it fun; should i be made so i cant have fun alone. this is a game and it is made for the masses.
Question: As a player with visual impairments (20/200 vision in both eyes) can those of us (persons with varying degrees of visual impairments) FINALLY get some dev to work with us on improvements to the game to help us? i agree their should be a setting to reduce blizzard settings or to increase but not get rid of. i love the blizzard and want to see it much better.

i don't pvp, don't like it. but i do love pve and how it is. it is in our opinion and in posting online to receive and deliver criticism.
it is in your opinion that this game should be make its content unsoloable (like dungeons, he's, raid, trials) but i disagree with 5 man epic and non epic dungeons. here's my take on it what 1 person can do with great challenge 5 people can do with ease. now take it with 5 grains of salt and you have an epic dungeon. i have seen a gwf 4k with over 80k power solo valindras tower (all but the bosses where you have to group up to enter, as he had to wait for us on the circle); only thing i said was awesome man faster run ever. what would you say to him? your overpowered, too strong, this isn't fun for me? that is your opinion what you say and i am just giving random negative answers. as i don't know what you would say. but if you saw a person solo an epic dungeon, what would you say to him? i am happy to get an easy run where i don't have to do anything and get free loot out of it, and i am also happy when i beat an epic dungeon all on my own. takes me maybe 2 hours to solo what i could have done in 15-20 minutes with a group.
At Cryptic - what exactly is the "Lead Designer" role? Does that make you, for example, Panderus or Terramak's boss? What is your *actual* roll with Neverwinter? What decision can you make personally, what decision do you have a lot of influence in, and what decisions are out of your control?
There's a lot of question about the future of the Foundry, and you've mention some areas of interest to you as well - what is your role in those things? Are you the ultimate decision-maker? Do you craft recommendations? How are decision made, in general, at Cryptic? There was a meeting, for example, to decide the fate of the Gateway - who actually made the decision to shut it down? You? Someone above you? Someone that reports to you? Someone that's your peer? (I'm not asking in order to flame anyone, I'm just using it as a recent example of a major decision is all)
A lot of players are interested in what... I'm really interested in understanding how. How are decisions made at Cryptic? Who is involved in the decision-making process? What sort of lead-times are you talking about? You mentioned, for example, working on the original pitch quest for Neverwinter 7 years ago. That was 3 years (give or take) before the Alpha tests. For major content releases, like M10 for example, how long does it take? Clearly, you're working on M11 now, but are you ALREADY working M12? M13? Not looking for spoilers, again, just looking for a better understanding on how decision get made and how work gets done at Cryptic.
Has there been any discussion about splitting PvE from PvP in terms of balancing? An adjustment that seems good in PvP is actually a nerf to PvE and vice versa.
What they should do is drop everything they are doing right now and add this feature to the game where we can disable the effects, then and only then continue with whatever it is they are doing. On a side note, consider the following Genjundead:
Use the Edit feature of the website in the forums, do not constantly add a new post for every single point/quote/reply you want to get across people specifically. The Edit button was invented, use it. Have the same consideration for others comments as you have it for giving your thoughts on the game. It's kind of annoying having to by-pass like 4-5 long replies from you when you could just do that in one post as a whole. All you are doing is throwing comments made by others farther back and extending the pages to a thread that doesn't need to have so many.
Soloing Dungeons is totally WRONG and shouldn't be possible at all.
I have to disagree with you here, this game is all about building your character. If I build my character exceptionally powerful, I want to see him/her exceptionally powerful. This is the whole sole reason we even play the game, to become stronger. Yes we play it to have fun also but as you have fun you also have a purpose and goals. And the main goal of this game or any game for that matter, is becoming stronger. If I am fully maxed out geared, I do not want to find my character playing on a level 1 map needing to hit one mob 20 hits to kill it, I should just 1 hit kill everything, it's common sense. You play the game to build the character, if you can not solo Epics for whatever reason and yet you are maxed out, then what's the point of playing the game? Not everything is just based off fun, there are reasons to play and one of those reasons is becoming stronger. Not being able to finally easy out everything in the game after all your hard work and time... Is a reason to not play at all.
Soloing Epic Dungeons is a sign of accomplishment, because one doesn't just jump in a game and 1-hit kills everything. Power creeping isn't a problem, eventually more and more powerful mobs/dungeons/skirmishes will be added to test your strength at some point. Remember, when Goku's level was over 9000, he didn't just go down under that level, he got far stronger and higher over time like we do in this game and every other. In fact, becoming better and stronger in life is what life and existance is all about to begin with.
You know what's worse than having a maxed out character and killing everything so fast?.. Having a maxed out character and dying even once in any dungeon or place at all because of a silly mistake you made while fighting.

Greetings and Well Met!
As mentioned previously, it has been stated over the years of increased communication with the playerbase, especially here on the forums.
What are you thoughts on this? And are you looking to even build a more reliable and trustworthy atmosphere?
It has been shown time and again, that the company does not take us very seriously, and doesn't bother conveying simple communications. Case in point the recent debacle of the Gateway...
Second, as others have asked, the Foundry and how does that tie in with your commitment to storytelling?
I am a ex- D&D dungeon master, and always thought stories should come first. I have played a few of the Foundry quests in the game, and really enjoyed them. You have some very talented people writing stuff there, if only they had the resources to take further.
-After AD removed from leadership, after Wards removed from tradebar store, after RP removed from nodes, after AD partially removed from invocations ( dont talk to me about the bonus, it's a loss for a player who want to play multiple chars without spending a big amount of time ), after all those inefficient measures against bots, don't you think that regular and legit players deserve a double diamonds weekend ? Or at least, a -50% AD cost event on all AD costs in game, for those poor and honest new players..
Question: Is there a plan to bring out again new difficult content like Fangbreaker in M10 (btw best modul ever because it brought finally challenging content) so that people always need to improve their equipment and also the 4k+ players will have a goal to aim for or will the future content just focus on the 1.5k - 2.5k ilvl players like m5-m9?
1 - We will ever get a real raid dungeon? something that would take 10/25/40 people hour+ to get through
2 - Any plans for Tiamat? any chance to make it an anytime event like edemo? lower donation amount? up the amount of Linus' favors? change reset date so that on xbox it doesn't reset on Thursdays

I'm mostly asking for mimicking's opinion on his desired *scale* of power creep. Is the current game aligned with his expectations? If not is it above / below what he thinks is ideal?
There are several design choices to allow comparative powercreep without influencing the effort / reward in the game... scale dungeon monsters to the players in party; or scale rewards to difficulty (easy / quick run has a reward handicap; similar to how XP from green/grey mobs is reduced).
But, are these solutions that Foss thinks are right for Neverwinter? Does it enable better storytelling when design allows characters to trivialize some older content (is that part of the reward they should get for spending the time and improving)? Is this sort of scaling what they want from a business perspective (as it entices people to spend money to achieve these high performance levels)?
Inherently power creep isn't good or bad, it's a question of what the game designer wants. It's telling though that the question is such a trigger though...
Question: How important and likely is parity between PC and both consoles? I'm on Xbox player and numerous times we've been hit with changes that are seemingly only affecting the PC due to Gateway/General botting, etc. We've been told parity but there are still many differences between all platforms. Will this always be the case or will the game eventually run the same on all 3 platforms e.g. mod launches, event start dates, store options all the same.

pvp will always be unbalanced, or at least that is my take on it.
if your an average player or casual and put in a few or some hours into the game you can only get a fraction as far as to those who play for several hours or all day long. i know quite a few serious players who put in almost as many hours as me to as many hours as me.
when hitting end game content the only thing left is to grind, improve your character, and have fun the way you want. if you want to be the best tank or healer or dps you find a way to make yourself that.
the boons for the campaigns don't do much, they are helpful but in the end they only help your character maybe 10+ percent, some companions are superior to others while if sued right any companion can make you a great asset to any team, bonding are meant to be an awesome runestone for your companion; augment companions need a buff so they can be on par or less superior to bonding; since bonding proc's can be hard to get off.
the reason why some players out dps others is probably cause the other players are less geared or weaker in dps. lets take a normal 5 man team. you have 1 tank 1 healer and 3 dps. the healer will make bottom on dps the tank will be in 4th place; lets say all the dps are all exactly 3k item lvl and theirs a gwf, tr, and hr. first place will go to the gwf who focused on pure dps and strong dps, second place will go to the tr who had 40% less dps then the gwf, the hr focuses on control and high dps being only 5% less then the tr.
do you see anything wrong? i dont since gwf do massive damage and tr's and hr's are also great for damage.
lets say the gwf has 70k-80k power while the tr and hr have about 30k-40k power

that is your opinion what you say and i am just giving random negative answers. as i don't know what you would say.
but if you saw a person solo an epic dungeon, what would you say to him?
i am happy to get an easy run where i don't have to do anything and get free loot out of it, and i am also happy when i beat an epic dungeon all on my own. takes me maybe 2 hours to solo what i could have done in 15-20 minutes with a group.
Thanks!

Thank you.

First, good luck with the job.
Now, question :
-After AD removed from leadership, after Wards removed from tradebar store, after RP removed from nodes, after AD partially removed from invocations ( dont talk to me about the bonus, it's a loss for a player who want to play multiple chars without spending a big amount of time ), after all those inefficient measures against bots, don't you think that regular and legit players deserve a double diamonds weekend ? Or at least, a -50% AD cost event on all AD costs in game, for those poor and honest new players..
Is there a plan to bring out again new difficult content like Fangbreaker in M10 (btw best modul ever because it brought finally challenging content) so that people always need to improve their equipment and also the 4k+ players will have a goal to aim for or will the future content just focus on the 1.5k - 2.5k ilvl players like m5-m9?
2 - Any plans for Tiamat? any chance to make it an anytime event like edemo? lower donation amount? up the amount of Linus' favors?
change reset date so that on xbox it doesn't reset on Thursdays

I'd like to see more stories as well, and less "clicking time" -- here are some suggestions in that vein: http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/neverwinter/#/discussion/comment/12884785
