Now comes the fun part. I’ll be doing an “ask me anything“ live stream on Friday the 23rd at 2pm PT where we can get to know each other better. Andy has posted a blog announcement below. In the meantime, I’d love for you to prime the pump and ask questions here. I can’t promise to get to all of them on stream, but I’ll do my best.
Thanks again for being a big part of Neverwinter, and I look forward to our adventures together!
Welcome!
Will there really be more mimics? That sounds scary! They might be fun in the dungeon revamps though. Big bad mimic boss?
What kinds of cute cuddly furry things can I look forward to in the future? We are missing quite a few Owlbear mounts and companions on the console versions. I want them all for my collections!
Looking forward to seeing you and Andy on stream and I hope there are more Neverwinter streams soon! We miss ya'll!
Much love, -Yama</p>
ye, there should be a mimic, who eat half of your refinements, when you click on him , hehe
I am very glad to hear that your main goals will be concentrating on story content. Its one of the main reasons I play games like this, to be enthralled by the world and lore. I like how, as a D&D newbie, the game seems to be doing a good job introducing me to this fantastic world.
Anyway, as for questions... do you guys have any plans to make more race/class specific stories? I love playing alts, and its nice to see there are a few specific quests dotted around depends on your character. I would love to see such story arcs continue to appear in newer expansions and Mods.
Question : What QOL (Quality of Life) changes if ANY do you see in the future for neverwinter? There have been a few, but very very few. Increasing stack size? of not just indentification scrolls but across the board etc?
Here are questions from my guild mates (Polish Domination):
1. Will there be any new/better rewards from dungeons/skirmishes? People run only the quickest dungeons (eLoL, eToS), because completing longer and more difficult dungeons is not rewarding. Loot tables are old and items we get are worth less and less. Please look at the prices of 'rare' drop like dragon gems, bones, Haarls treatise, etc. We used to be able to make some extra money actually playing the game.
2. Can we have option to skip cut scenes in dungeons and skirmishes. We have this option in some instances, others do not have option to skip it. Watching it for first few times is OK, but wasting time on the same cut scene over 1000 times is not OK.
3. When can we expect to have old dungeons come back into game as epic dungeons?
4. Refining: a) Do you plan to organize new refining only TAB (like profession or companion tabs). Refining resources take up a lot of space in our inventory, because of BtA, BtC and Unbound categories in four different qualities of dozens items. b) Do you plan to improve drop rates of enchantments? We have lots of sources of resonant stones, but not reliable source of enchants to improve our artifacts and enchants in equipment.
5. Campaigns: a) Are you working on campaign window? Current layout is unreadable, chaotic and do not provide essential info. Campaigns are not sorted chronological, nor alphabetically. When you complete campaign task there is no indication in which one you can collect reward. We cannot hide unused Deeds or Campaign windows. b) Do you plan to implement account-wide unlock for campaigns? After great implementation of epic Demogorgon you went back in time with Fangbreaker Island. What is your plan for further campaigns?
6. Events: a) Do you plan to create endgame events where we can gain rare and unique items after hard work and hours of game play? We have events for newcomers (CtA), bots and grinders (Summer and Winter Festivals). Can you prepare something new for real players? Events should be well prepared, so even endgame players will consider putting everything aside and play the event. Now most of them do not care. b) Do you plan to improve loot from events? Enchantments rank 1 and 2 is a joke even for new players. People just run CtA without even noticing what is on the floor, it's not worth bag space to pick it up.
7. PvP: a) Can you give us your ideas about PvP in future? b) What is your conclusion after solo PvP event? c) Are you planning to present new maps or new types of game for PvP? d) Are you planning to improve Stronghold Siege which have very small interest? e) Will you improve rewards from PvP?
8. Professions: a) Are you planning to improve professions? Now there is little to do except Leadership, Alchemy and Black Ice. b) Can we have rare recepies for special items that require rare items from dungeons or skirmishes (like it was in old MC or VT)? c) Can you improve professions UI? Now it loads for a long time which waste a lot of time for players that have many alts.
7. Class balance: a) Are you planning to balance difference between GF and OP as tank classes? While OP have very good survivability, GF do not and GF lost one of his best feature which was great buff for whole team (that was it's trade off).
8. Bugs and Issues: a) Can we have regular acknowledge posts of known issues and bugs in respective forum threads? b) Can we expect to have regular and active Mods/Developers responding to players feedback? c) When do you plan to fix old bugs that are in game for at least few modules? As regular TR player I remind you of stuck Stealth Bar bug which is in game since Mod3. There are many more in bug section of this forum which are unanswered for weeks.
9. Gateway and Sword Coast Adventures: a) Can we have SCA in game? b) Do you plan to put SCA rewards as in game rewards? c) Can we have more tools for guild management? Top issue is easy activity and donation check.
10. Anti-bot steps: a) Will you consider putting every reward behind in game game play like campaign lairs, skirmishes, dungeons, so bot user will not have easy time farming items for sell? b) Will you monitor AH sales to ban bot accounts? Now there are 'people' selling hundreds of stacks of resonant stones. I see them for weeks, so they are not getting banned. c) Will you consider hiring more in game Game Moderators to deal with bot activity? d) Will you consider reducing prices of refining items in ZEN Market and/or Wondrous Bazaar to fight lower prices on AH?
1. Are you the kind of person to answer tough questions by the community, or will you ignore them? I don't just mean for tomorrow for the AMA. I mean for the future as well. Months from now, will you still be willing to get in the trenches with us to answer questions and concerns from the community on a frequent (if not daily) basis?
2. I normally play with one of my friends. A common perspective we share is that the combat system in this game is a blast, but that the end game content design is just so off track. (It feels like the original devs got lucky in designing an awesome combat system, then didn't know how to design an mmo around it for the long term players.) There are way fewer end game dungeons than we'd expect from a game at this stage in it's life. Way fewer skirmishes/trials. And there are way fewer incentives to run the dungeons we do have. We want to play this game into 2017, but I just don't think there's nearly enough end game content...not even close. Some of the content is/feels broken and/or just not fun (such as PoM).
I'm assuming you will disagree with my perspective on this, but it's how I feel. What steps will you and your team take to address these issues in the immediate future (ie for Mod 11 and 12)?
3. Another common perspective I have is that the company is just so greedy it's unreal. I completely understand you need to make money. I get it. But it just feels like the current business model goes well above and beyond what's reasonable, into the realm of being maximum greedy as much as you can get away with it. Do you disagree?
4. Gear progression doesn't make any sense to me. We are supposed to run FBI to get gear...for FBI? We're supposed to run Demogorgon to get gear...for Demogorgon? Well why would we need the gear if we can already beat it without it?
The end game dungeons need a progression through them. A different way to set it up, for example, would be to design the end game dungeons so that there are different tiers of dungeons, let's say about 5 dungeons in each tier. When you hit 70 you can only access the first tier. The gear you get in the first tier helps you in the first tier and is also helpful and needed to even be able to attempt the second tier. The gear you get in the second tier helps you in the second tier but is helpful and needed to be able to even attempt the third tier. Etc. Then keep adding tiers with newer modules.
That is just one way to do it. I'm sure there are many others. I feel like by now we should have 30 end game dungeons with a nice progression to go through them and plenty of reasons to run them all. Instead it's the opposite...few dungeons with few reasons to run them.
Why won't you implement a progression like this?
5. Why can only 1 new dungeon be released in a module sometimes? I don't understand why we can't get 3 or 4 new end game dungeons per module, at least. 1 is just not enough, especially when some are removed sometimes.
6. My friend and I would love to try to duo a dungeon together privately. This would give us incentive to go back and try to beat every end game dungeon as a duo, thus giving us a lot more "content" then we currently have. Please let people enter a dungeon solo/duo/trio/quad. It seems like such an easy thing to implement that would give us a lot more to do than we have currently.
The main downside to this is that if too many people choose to play in smaller private groups, then there will be less people for the normal 5 person groups, especially pugs. So as much as I want this, I'm not sure about this one.
7. The gap in how powerful characters are due to their item level is extreme. A 2.5 IL compared to a 4.2 is extremely far apart in terms of powerlevel. I don't see why the game is designed so that there is such a big difference between end game characters. Do you agree this is an issue, and if so what do you plan to do about it in the near future (ie mod 11 and/or 12)?
8. Why does item level include utility slots but then doesn't include something like stat increases from boons? Can you redesign item level so that it reflects only the power level of a character, whether that power comes from gear, enchantments, boon, etc. Anything that doesn't directly increase the power level of your character needs to be removed from IL, and anything that does affect it needs to be added to IL.
9. Are there actual plans for a bard or druid class in mod 11 or 12?
10. Is Prophecy of Madness broken or not working right in any way? If so, when can we expect a fix?
11. Why do so many bugs go unaddressed for so long? The only reason I can think of is lack of manpower. Is this true, and if so, do you see this trend continuing in the near future, or is something going to be done about all the bugs that go unaddressed for so long?
12. Why does a bottle of white dye make some of my armor look light brown like leather, instead of white?
1 - We will ever get a real raid dungeon? something that would take 10/25/40 people hour+ to get through
2 - Any plans for Tiamat? any chance to make it an anytime event like edemo? lower donation amount? up the amount of Linus' favors? change reset date so that on xbox it doesn't reset on Thursdays
no one wants to spend an hour in a dungeon or raid. if the reward is good enough though you will see some people doing it.
I would like to do something like that IF THE DROP WERE WORTH IT AND I DID NOT NEED VOINBLOOD FOR IT. I hear that raid dungeons that take 3 or more hours are common and popular in WoW (I have never played it, but I have talked to many that have).
i have played wow and the longest i have ever been in a raid is 45 minutes. got terrible loot, took me a month to get the gear i wanted from that raid. that means i did 3 runs cause raids can only be done weekly.
1. Serwer lag and rubberbanding. Do you plan upgrading servers for Neverwinter PC? Many players (my guild is Polish only, so EU zone) complain about lags in players-heavy instances like Well of Dragons during Herlads of Tiamat event, Strongholds during Dragonflight, Tiamat and sometimes Demogorgon. We asked players from our guild about their PC configuration, Internet, etc. and the game should run smooth. When large group of players are in close proximity and use skills that affect others the gameplay is horible. FPS spikes, lags, rubberbanding. I think the main reason is very high number of packages send to and from server. We tried different online titles (WoT, Battlefield, WoW) and had high FPS numbers (60+), no lags, even with ping 50-150 in some games it was good smoth gameplay.
2. Do you plan to change in-game rewards? I have pointed out dungeons and professions, but there is more that could be done. Skill nodes, chests, mobs drop, etc. I find most of these items useless for lvl 70 character. It's annoying to run the most difficult dungeon in the game (FBI, CN) and get useless drops that noone cares about. Could you please remove all this trash and prepare something worth picking up to my inventory space? The same is with skill nodes and chests which are ignored, because of nothing worth in it. Instead of giving out rewards for every chest or skill node consider new mechanic. Players will collect 'openings' of skill nodes, chests and kills of mobs. And after HAMSTER number of openings/kills you might get or chose reward. it could be tiered (eg. under lvl 70, campaign zone, skirmish, dunegeons).
3. Can we get disable visuals option for weapon and armour enchantments? Players asked this for ages. I'd like to see option to disable visuals the same as we have for headgear. Another thing to consider is to give us option in game settings to disable visuals of enchants for other players (most pve players do not care about it).
I am an editor of official wiki. I had obtained information and images from the Gateway, and posted on the wiki. Now, Gateway gone down and cannot get information and images. Could you publish packs that contains images, on the official site ?
Are there any plans in the works to deal with the RP grind? It's not fun, and I think it's probably encouraging more people to want to bot. Having to progress an artifact through millions of RP in small tiny little chunks is not fun.
[1.]I know this is a petty issue but can you please fix the Graphic for Axe's on the HR there curruntly showen being worn on the belt with axe head down, the wait in any axe will be in the head of axe gravity would cuase them to fall right out also there would not be a practical why of drawing them from the belt in there current state you would have to pull the axe head through the belt cuting the HR in the prosses. or pull them downwards again not pratical unless you have long arms.
[2.] Could you please replace the need to the have the same type of item in the Refinment prosses this can become prohibitively expensive when going form rank 8to9 or 9to10 and 11to12
I know i'm a late comer but I have a couple questions for the mimic king.
What is your favorite module in tabletop DnD? Do you see any way that lore from that Mod could be improved upon in neverwinter?
What kind of story do you like to see told with the game? How do you plan on introducing more epic content into the game? Are you focusing more on boons and campaigns for solo players or dungeons or other multiplayer instances?
What is your thought on the future of Strongholds? Do you guys think more can be done in terms of guild events beyond Dragonflight?
Alot of players have expressed concerns that the gear from Fangbreaker Island is just going to become useless after this mod cycle is over and there is no point in upkeeping the gear. Requiring resistance is fine assuming the gear is useful in other areas, which it isn't needed even to run the dungeon or give you any significant advantage in any content. Why was this decision implemented for a craftable gear that requires so much upkeep? Is this the way new gear is going to be in the game going forward?
I swear.. I don't want to know what your favorite food is and I will be highly disappointed if I find out.

Quite a few of the questions that people want answered, can not be answered due to NDA. So I give alternatives. I'm sorry if you don't like it.
Then what is the point in having a AMA if we can't Ask them anything? They could at least tell us that they can't answer a question so we realize that we aren't being ignored entirely, right?

Watch them answer questions no one ever asked, it's always the same with these developers. Get everyone hyped up and then - totally let you down in the end. But okay, we will see who is on point with all this.

"Ask me anything" doesn't translate to "We Can Answer Anything" or "You'll Get The Answer You Want". Sometimes, the answer you're likely to get is "Unfortunately we can't discuss that at this time," or "We aren't ready to reveal our plans on that just yet." People are going to invariably see that as "avoiding the question" . Also, in the corporate environment--even in an AMA setting--responses are always measured.
However, don't knock people because they ask seemingly nonsensical questions. It's not mean to be solely serious business.

No. The devs are not some children, a lead designer can say that he can't answer specific question or can't go into details, they do not need help in terms of HAMSTERED question that waste all of our time.
If they can't deal (and yes, saying they can't answer something, is valid too) with an AMA, with the thought questions, they shouldn't make one.
Some people ask thoughtful questions, to the point, and that most of us would like answered or at least addressed. Asking about breakfast or something like that, is infuriating, disrespectful to everyone who actual put a bit though into their question and to the lead designer. After years of game industry experience, leading not so small project, and to ask about food ? This is what his responsibility and ability are summed as ? Insulting.
I hope they will not waste our time (and for some of us the stream is very late at night).
I can disagree with plenty of question, some I think are lets say 'not wise', everyone has a right to post them, but none are made on purpose to waste our time and avoid other questions.

Ask me anything means just that. You can ask him anything. He just might not be able to answer.
That being said, I think this community deserves to hear him tackle some of the tougher questions. I see a lot of themes here: Character customization and visuals, RP and general grindiness to the game, lack of meaningful loots and drops, PvP balance/direction...those are some major themes he should definitely speak to.
In the meantime, I’d love for you to prime the pump and ask questions here. I can’t promise to get to all of them on stream, but I’ll do my best.
Can you do a reddit AMA at some point? They seem to work better than livestreams.
I 2nd this! Please do an AMA on Reddit.
Also - can ya'll make a dungeon filled with mimics? Like almost all the monsters are mimics? And throw in a couple regular glowy chests too. But mostly mimics. With a huge mimic as the final boss. Maybe some spider mimics in there too? I would make one with a foundry quest but ummm, foundry needs way too much love, and doesn't have bosses.

Question: can we get a way to get the blizzard back the way we want it before you nerfed it? i loved how the blizzard looked before it was downgraded, me and many other players. yes their are those who couldn't look at the screen, so make a way to make it the way it is before and a way to make it lower then it is now. have the way the blizzard is seated as the middle ground.
basically i am asking for a way to get the blizzard visual appeal back to how it was before you guys changed it to what it is now. also asking for a way to turn the blizzard up or down for the person who wants it lower or higher.
Can you please do something about the GREAT WEAPON FIGHTER in PVP? For a class that has essentially no control and is a close range toon can you please increase our weapon damage or something? Also if you could do something about not making us ROGUE bait in pvp that would be certainly appreciated to. My suggestion would be to give us the one second immunity while initially starting to sprint like the WARLOCK.
Can you disable certain event items from working in pvp too? The new wand from the portebello campaign can be used right now to shocking execute people in the spawn where you are supposed to be immune until you hop down.
Find me in game if you want and send me a domination/ gaunt invite. If you are good and im not busy ill play with you. Im not an elitist ill play with almost anyone.
Is there a way we can get all the old MOD 5 items as transmutes? Id even pay money to get them.. the old mod 5 pvp armor was AWESOME.
Find me in game if you want and send me a domination/ gaunt invite. If you are good and im not busy ill play with you. Im not an elitist ill play with almost anyone.
Ask me anything means just that. You can ask him anything. He just might not be able to answer.

I think this is a fantastic summary.
People are nervous about too many softball questions because we've seen similar events in the past devolve into meaningless silliness while avoiding serious topics, mostly to generate good publicity for outside the community at the expense of the relationship with/within the community.
I would add to your list (because this is my pet cause) addressing the general nature of communication and openness with the community. I am of 2 minds with regards to this:
I am delighted to see increased engagement from Devs such as @panderus and @terramak on the forums. More dialog with the community, even before you have all the answers, can serve as a wonderful tool to build trust and cultivate an engaged player base.
I am saddened all too frequently by what I perceive to be missed opportunities. Where a lack of communication increases frustration and alienates the community, but could be addressed by even very limited updates that acknowledge challenges and provide updates on thinking or timing. Examples of missed opportunities include: poor communication following the Gateway removal, lack of dialog about critical bugs identified by Preview Shard users prior to mod10 launch, poor communication during server downtime (especially with DDoS attacks), lack of clear direction about whether items are working as intended (examples of this are plentiful: from lostmauth set bonus to debuff interactions with certain powers, to long-standing bugs with weapon enchants or feat procs). I think there is a lot of room to improve here, but the culture change needs to start at the top.

Thanks in advance for your answers.
I had obtained information and images from the Gateway, and posted on the
wiki.
Now, Gateway gone down and cannot get information and images.
Could you publish packs that contains images, on the official site ?
[1.]I know this is a petty issue but can you please fix the Graphic for Axe's on the HR there curruntly showen being worn on the belt with axe head down, the wait in any axe will be in the head of axe gravity would cuase them to fall right out also there would not be a practical why of drawing them from the belt in there current state you would have to pull the axe head through the belt cuting the HR in the prosses. or pull them downwards again not pratical unless you have long arms.
[2.] Could you please replace the need to the have the same type of item in the Refinment prosses
this can become prohibitively expensive when going form rank 8to9 or 9to10 and 11to12
What is your favorite module in tabletop DnD?

That being said, I think this community deserves to hear him tackle some of the tougher questions. I see a lot of themes here: Character customization and visuals, RP and general grindiness to the game, lack of meaningful loots and drops, PvP balance/direction...those are some major themes he should definitely speak to.
Also - can ya'll make a dungeon filled with mimics? Like almost all the monsters are mimics? And throw in a couple regular glowy chests too. But mostly mimics. With a huge mimic as the final boss. Maybe some spider mimics in there too? I would make one with a foundry quest but ummm, foundry needs way too much love, and doesn't have bosses.

basically i am asking for a way to get the blizzard visual appeal back to how it was before you guys changed it to what it is now.
also asking for a way to turn the blizzard up or down for the person who wants it lower or higher.
Can you disable certain event items from working in pvp too? The new wand from the portebello campaign can be used right now to shocking execute people in the spawn where you are supposed to be immune until you hop down.
