The current system has the same problem as the real life economy and this one is pretty flawed.
This means you generate currency out of nothing (happens in real life economy too) which is a problem because you inflate the price of goods. Normally not a problem if you stay constantly in such a system and earn currency but small participants that only started, have very little knowledge and/or possibilities to get their hand on a reasonable amount of currency is nearly impossible to get on the standard normal participants have an lock them out of the system in their poor existence.
In terms of Neverwinter the worth of Astral Diamonds in relation to Zen is getting a lot lower because we generating constantly AD but is locked by the ZAX that can only go to 500 AD to 1 ZEN which create a giant backlog. Now you can demand to lift the backlog, that would mean a direct devalue of AD and a constant Inflation of the AD to ZEN price. We had such stuff in real life, where a loaf of bread costs around 1 million of the specific currency, the economy was so damaged that shop owners got to the bank after they sold something to change their money as fast as they could to another currency with better worth (and without inflation) because if they would do it after they closed their shop in the evening they had less valuable income than in the morning (so rapidly increasing was the inflation). That would mean you can trash the game because to earn AD is utterly pointless because it would of course affect the prices in the auction house and to implement AD Sinks™ is also pointless. AD Sinks™ like components for refining (Greater Mark Of Potency) or RNG unlock from Artifact Weapons must be paid by everyone even, so to say we need more AD Sink™ will only lead to make beginners and poor players unable to effort anything. So by demanding AD Sinks™ you make the game worse for new players.
The only way to get rid of such problems is simply to change the economy system. An option would a hybrid of secured money circulation and capitalist system. All the characters of the same account shares AD (like ZEN currently) and the AD have two limits. The first limit is the total amount of AD an account can hold which is 15 million AD. The second limit is the amount of AD that is safe on the account which is 1.500.000 AD. Now some of you make ask “safe?” Yes. Every month the systems delete all Astral Diamonds that are not in the save limit of an account. And important you have no limit to refine rough astral diamonds to astral diamonds it will only happen that you lose at the end of the month every last Astral Diamond over the limit of 1.500.000 AD. This has many effects, one would be people are encourage to buy stuff because they doesn’t want to lose all their AD beyond the safe-limit so they will convert it into some goods. If they buy GMOP the market will swamped with it and they will be a lot cheaper than 100.000 AD. This effect will decrease after a while because the total amount of AD circulating in the economy will decrease to a certain level. The ZAX will decrease. At first of course he will spike up like nothing before because everyone tries to safe his overflow AD by trading it in for Zen but after a month or two most of the stuff is cleared out of the system and only the one needing Zen to directly buy something will remain in the system. And now imagine that millions of AD from exploiter vanishes from one moment to another. Sure they can generate new AD with profession Bots but that will be worthless at the end of the month and they must buy in Stuff. In that way they are supporting the economy.

Another move that should have been done from the get-go is to remove Astral Diamonds from being a trading resource and make it just like the Dilithium counterpart is in Star Trek Online, in essence removing AD from the Auction House and making the AH work on Gold. This would solve more economy issues and economy affecting issues than anything else that could be done.
First off. If you will try to delete all AD above certain point, players will simply throw everything in to the ZAX whenever they get above that point.
2. Expensive items would be either traded for other or sold outside of the game.
3. Removing AD from AH and replacing it with gold = botters paradise, because gold can be farmed off mobs 24/7 and they probably had lot's of it stocked by now.
The cap on Zen should always be based on the total amount of AD in the market, with the min cap to prevent abuse. If you wont take relation of real $ to in game currency it will only encourage players to sell and buy AD (or full items) outside of the game.
If you need ~100$+ to make or buy "one" item, the economy is broken.

Not really. Why wasting time and money in the ZAX if you can buy gmop, RP and other stuff directly from the wondoures bazar or stuff form the auction house?

Yes, I am serious.
I never said anything about deleting AD. You're completely misunderstanding. You should research how Dilithium works in Start Trek Online, as that is the same thing as our Astral Diamonds here. Once you do and you see how stable STO's economy is, you'd see why I posted the remarks about making our AD function just like Dilithium does in STO. Never-the-less, I will say that almost all your suggestions will only make things worse. What you're proposing is the exact opposite of how you combat inflation in an MMO's economy.

To be fair, though, STO's AH was developed at a time when STO was still a subscription game. Now, I'm all for having a use for gold in the game beyond what it is now, but let's be realistic--basing the AH on AD only is a revenue driver.

Aye, it would be quite a feat to do such as STO was built around that EC/Dilithium Economy and has had more years to stabilize. I do feel it would be in Neverwinter's best interest to change to match how STO does it, but I doubt it would happen.
Which brings me back to my original point, that raising the cap will do nothing in an economy where the currency (AD) is not being properly taken out of the economy with effective sinks. Raising the cap will only drive inflation higher.

The comment about deleting the AD wasn't directed to you, but to the poster above you. You'd know if you'd read it, since i didnt quote any of you, not sure why you even bring that point.
STO economy might be stable, because they probably didnt had such big currency exploits as NWO had. Let's see how (if) things change after double RP eent is over.
My prediction is that backlog will keep rising (simply because players produce and have more AD than in the past while cap wasn't adjusted + Zen value is related to real money and Cryptic will always try to have some decent things for sale, since it's a business model after all)

You said "guys" so that denoted more than one person and you didn't quote the person you said you were replying to either. STO has had their trials and tribulations, as bad, if not worse in regards to economy exploiting. That's beside the point though, as that is the past and has little bearing on fixing the economy as it is now. I've been playing both STO and NW since they were in early testing phases.
THE VAST majority of players (90% probably) are AD poor.. not AD rich. This concept that every player has tons of AD is crazy.. I make a million every ten days now give or take.. I used to make a million every 7 days.. WITH THAT .. I cant even maintain one toon.
A mil every 10 days.. and that's not being rich?
No, it is not. Ever asked yourself a question what you can buy for 1 M. AD ?
I have actually. A mil every 10 days means almost 2 tenser's disks a month. Or a transcended enchantment every 2 months.
Excuse meh for calling you a rich person if you can afford that. Some people have a life outside Neverwinter. If I could move my company to the Jewel of the North I would, but alas. I cannot. And there's not much demand for an IT business anywhere in Faerun even if I could.
LOLwut?
Currently cheapest legendary mount is the ugly bullette. 7.5 million.
1 million is your average Rank 9 enchantment plus one or two R8s to top that off. And those Trance enchants that are on offer for 6 meg are either bugged ones or plain were not worth upgrading to perfect beforehand.
Sorry, just no. A million AD really isn't that much in this game. With that million you can upgrade your topped up perfect Weapon or Armor enchantment to pure: 500k for the Coal and 500k for the pMoPs... ...and better hope it's WAI.
Dude with 1,5 million you can build yourself a rank 10. That are 300 Rank 4 stacks. which are around 8 Million RP for your artifact. To rank up almost to max. Within 10 days...
Platypus wielding a giant hammer, your argument is invalild!

I know there's currently no disk in the AH. You're missing the point which is that a mil every 10 days is a lot to a lot of people. Half the players are happy if they reach the daily cap. And that's 168k a week. Not even half of what Silverkelt makes, who made the original statement. And they don't have leadership armies either. So yes. Someone who makes a mil every 10 days would be considered rich by a huge part of the players.
But thanks for proving the point. If you lot don't consider 3 mil a month much, imagine what the average player has to go through before you put something in the AH for ridiculous prices*.
*=not directed at anyone in particular.
I never really was that interested in getting Tenser's, so I can't say anything certain here, but I frankly doubt that they ever traded for half a million. What I can remember, though, is that I had to fling out 150k for my High Prophet helmet once...

Rank 10 costs include already the costs of gmop and wards. (additional 1,7 million from 10 to 12). Artifacts need 6 gmop for rank 139 with 92% of the stats so every 20 days an almost full ranked artifact.
Yes you are a rich person.

I hope the developers have the common sense to never rise the AD cap in the Zen Exchange, as it will destroy the player-base. If you think you Zen is worth more, just because you spent money on it, think of it this way: is it worth playing in a ghost town of a game? Because that's what will happen. I can assure you there's no limit to human greed. You want 1000AD per Zen now, but soon you'll ask for 2000AD. It's only natural, and I'm not bashing anyone for this. You only think Zen is worth more because there's too much emphasis put on the Zen Store these days. If they'd put worthwhile things in the game that are only obtainable through AD, you would have a different perspective on things. They need to make AD more valuable, so when you sell your Zen at 1/500 (or less) you'd find that exchange satisfactory.
In short - rising the AD cap will solve nothing, and will just create a vicious circle that will do nothing but harm to the game.
I hate dancing with Lady Luck. She always steps on my toes.
As mentioned before, they should clean the game first from all the AD, that was obtained through bugs/exploits or even from "hacked" accounts, and then we will see, where we stand... you can't build a better house, without a solid foundation to start from.

Making a Rank 10 from scratch requires 10 purple Greater MoPs... ...which cost 100k apiece = 1 million.
Increasing the 500 cap will make it more expensive for new players to buy zen with AD.
wealth difference between old players and new players will increase.
Instead, let's reduce the incoming AD.
nerf leadering farms.
Start by putting a limit on daily AD refine per account.
This is not valid, think of all the players who have multiple accounts. Do you think putting a cap on how much an account can refine will make this better? This is just going to HAMSTER off more players who rely on that income to get through the game by scraping by. Bare minimum.
