I'm buying one to go with my cockatrice and troll-throne. Whee.
And thanks as well to the devs. I like pvp, and anything that adds humour to the matches is welcome. And to the anti-troll moral majority, what would you rather..? Some greasey half-orc gwf dry-humping your poor corpse, or a short flight into the heavens..?
No brainer.
No idea what my toon is now.

It's funny...it's also very, very hard to pull of in live action. At most, it does 1000-1500 damage, so trying to get the last hit in with the stick is very difficult. The range is also super short, and the animation is "longish", so your timing has to be spot on.
My Fury lock is all about Ranged DPS, I can imagine getting some one low and being all like:
"Charge!" (Shadow Walk forward asap to hit them with the Poking Stick)
"Hope I reach him before my DoTs kill him!" (Shadow Walk forward asap to hit them with the Poking Stick)
"I'm gonna get him!" (Get Poking Sticked myself...)
Yes it will be very funny to kill 10ks and make them feel even more pathetic and none of you will get annoyed if it ever happens to you, of course not.
In a healthy PvP climate, t would be EXTREMELY funny.
Problem is we have one very sick PvP scene, with seemingly random matchmaking and people getting humiliated to the point where they won't leave spawn. Not long ago, they used to be unsafe even in the spawn, as people would climb and slaughter them repeatedly.
If PvP would be a fair business with everybody having similar chance at the greatest gear and similar chance vs other classes, poking people would be just fine, they would be mostly relaxed and enjoying themselves.
But you tell the NW beginner at 10K GS trying to complete daily so he can get back to farming w/e and being stomped the 5th game in a row that he shouldn't mind being further humiliated when he dies.
Adding to the group vote that this was a bad idea. But, more than that, am I the only one that was more than a little peeved that this was supposed to be a reward for the ENTIRE community for our participation in the "Season of Dragons" and then it comes around that it is ONLY a reward to the portion of the community that PvPs?
Actually, the WB item objective wasn't met, iirc. It was the instagram-follow one and was undershot by a lot. So this is something different.
Another objective has been posted with a reward of a dice-rolling item to be added to the WB. I'm assuming that no planned Season of Dragons rewards are entirely out of reach, but just get recycled onto new goals

Normally we disagree. But this, I can agree with.

I think magiquepurse summed up my thoughts on the subject quite well too.
In principle, I think the poking stick is hilarious. But in an environment that leans towards being toxic and hostile... phrasing that encourages attempts to humiliate opponents is... ill-advised.
I have a guildie that is working towards getting enough AD to buy herself a poking stick. She likes PvP, but is not a top PvPer by any means, and doesn't take it all that seriously. She just wants to poke people, whether they're low health or not. And I think the intent is for it to be used in light-hearted spirit. It's just that there are a lot of players around who do not take things light-heartedly.

As I said before, I can see the attempt at humor. It's the choice of wording in both the tooltip and news entry and the hard sell on "humiliating your opponent" in an already toxic PVP environment for which there is no shortage of ways to humiliate your foe as it is that I take issue with.

So you're saying this is the proverbial stick that breaks the camel's back?
Have the gear and skills, but lack the friends to play with? Come and apply for Essence of Aggression. We have been here and strong since beta. (Immature, rude, and arrogant people will not be accepted)
This thing is a perfect example of what's wrong with both PvP and the game. That hostile, nasty atmosphere of trolling and flaming your opponents, and introducing new ridiculous things while ignoring long-standing bugs. They can code this, but they can't simply figure out what they did with the code for the animation for the TR walk that first went missing on Preview in July and went live despite numerous reports in August and remains completely unacknowledged? And that's just a cosmetic bug, never mind ones that are more severe issues...

So don't PvP then.
Stop making excuses. Be a man. If you know something to be broken, stop using it. Otherwise, you've got no right to be speaking of 'balance.'

I think that if someone's self-esteem utterly collapses because their toon gets stomped in an online game, they probably have prior issues unrelated to said game.
Personally, I think there should be a new event weekend: all areas in neverwinter are flagged as OWpvp weekend.

That's a wonderfully classy bit of victim blaming. People don't mind dying in PvP as much as the ceaseless torrents of abuse and hate speech, at a pitch that would be cause for legal intervention in "the real world". It is unpleasant and dehumanising.
It is in YOUR interest, as a PvPer, to not humiliate newbies and act like a normal person.
Why?
Because PvP community is small, and gets smaller, and it is harder each module to get geared for PvP. People try it, get matched to a 20K GS (soon to be 25K) party and get stomped, poked and throned and laughed at, and they are not gonna bother anymore.
If you would see further than your 1 second of fun, you'd understand these things.

No, people leave PvP because the balance is trash, top pvp communities are elitist trash and the match making is just a suicide button for undergeared newbies.
GG! How are you supposed to get people into pvp, especially those newbies that just started and already witness all that sad toxic stuff.
P.S I personally stopped PvPing after glyphs.

including gear score in matchmaking would really help but they seem to not understand...delete elixirs in pvp, include enchants in gear score and develop a gs matchmaking... this would really help to make people feel confortable with their gears.

These are funny scenarios to me!
Seems like a waste of AD, just like the throne, the water balloon, the horn... but if people want to burn their AD, it's... fine I guess?
It's pretty pointless to me, doesn't give stats nor helps you winning or killing a thing since any at-will deals more damage.

Pretty sure that's supposed to be a straw, but a stick is presumably an acceptable substitute.
200k is too steep for my blood

Its also going to leave some people vunerable trying to use it instead of something else to try and kill you when it doesnt.
I like the asthetic of the stick regardless.
