WHY? Did you make set piece bonuses to a weapons i CANNOT ascertain?
What kind of cruel joke is this, that I've got the entire set... Yet must do HE after HE after HE getting nothing ponderously making the game not fun and I am growing weary of it!
I want to leave IWD, but I can't because you made a ridiculous requirement that some RNG GOD will decide when and " IF " I shall receive my set piece...
This is absolutely pathetic! Give me a goddamned way of getting my frigging main hand will ya so I can play the game????????????????????????

I left IWD on 2 characters and they don't have the weapon set. 2 of my characters skipped IWD and they have no weapon sets.
I have 9 characters I run through Icewind Dale... and I got the gwfs black ice mainhand(day 10 or so?, before they lowered drop rate) and gfs black ice gloves(day 27). So... I guess im lucky then?
I hear "learn to play" all the time, but it seems to me that it should be defined as "my class is balanced, except when others beat it, then THAT class is OP"...
I got some Hammerstone stuff too. And even if it was for GF, I salvaged it, and it's not like I need any more raw AD ... But no mainhand nor glove either.
At least, you are about to up your exp bar. But be careful, I had a wonderful set of 5 r3 enchants as a reward last time ...
Olaf, freelance guardian fighter.
Enorla, Oh so devoted cleric.
I'm a GF too. I've got my Main hand from Beholder.
I have some tips for you man, this is from my experience, hope it'll work on you too.
Try slotting Enhanced Mark when doing it, and use Enforced Threat too. Idk, but if im not mistaken, the more damage you took will also increase your chance to get the Main Hand. It worked for me for both Main Hand and Glove.
I see you were using full single target DPS encounters in that pic you've posted. Yes, the more dmg you deal to the enemy will also increase your chance, but GF's DPS atm is sucks. Maybe you might want to try different way by taking more damage.

You got it brotha I will try that and see whats doing! I am starting to wonder if Sword Masters are bugged, because the only GFs I see with the mainhand are IV?
On a separate note i hope I am not breaking any rules posting a pic on myself?, I just got back from Fishing, and my Large Mouth Bass drop rate increased today!
Today I got an epic offhand TR, but I'm CW! maybe if there was a trader in the region where we could exchange the item corresponding to our class!
*sigh* ... this. This so much.

I almost feel bad about posting this, I do feel the pain the having to grind for gloves and MH.
Just last night I was doing a "screw it i'm gonna sit here and hunt a couple beholders then go to bed" moments, when low and beholder a beholder popped, fought it, bot the standard 180 ice and pretty much nothing of note (ice, green something and a potion as I recall).
Ugh, "one more" I thought to myself, when a guy came over LFG stating a beholder poped next time and he was TT, "Great" I was TT so asked for invite, I show up and even though I had two long rides to the farthest ends of the maps, I get there and no one is there yet, "awesome!!" shortly after my arrival a few more people show up and we go to work. I stayed in party with the guy that invited we were there a good few minutes making very slow progress on beating the beholder down with probably 6 - 8 people there, I was on my GF that has been hunting the Beholders like crazy for the past week or two and have gotten squat (I even posted some of my frustation).
It wasn't long before more people showed up but not enough to start bogging things down, the adds started getting dispatched and the beholders health bar started ticking down much faster ... it was a fairly long fight ... finally the beholder dies, I hold my breath going "god at least give me a purple mat (i'll note here that in all the beholders I have fought NONE have dropped anything but green HAMSTER not even purple mats but I had been getting 180 ice)" I click claim rewards and I sigh a bit of relief going good at least I got a purple mat out of this for a change ... then I looked, "WHOLLY *hit balls its a black ice longsword!!!!" Finally my GF has a complete set before MOD4 comes out ...
I don't know what factored in most, it seems that on my DC and now this GF I have had better luck getting the drop staying in an actual party even if its with just one or two other people than I was doing it solo. Or maybe I Just finally ran some good luck and a good RNG, or maybe it was because there wasn't 50 people there, I think by the tail end of the fight 15 - 20 might have been there but it was 8 - 10 or so through the majority of the fight ... or maybe some combination of the above.
Short story, you can get the drop but depending on class or maybe in general the more people that show up the less likely it is you will get it ... so look for or hope for beholders that you can fight with much smaller groups than zerged ones ... mine was off peak ... about 1 am I think on a Friday night/Saturday morning.
It doesnt matter if your DPS specced or not. They have lowered the drop rates to such a low level it's almost impossible to get any gear drops.
I've gone all the way from 0 rep to 350 rep in Icewind and havent gotten a single item drop from any heroics I am 4 encounters away from Epic hero 3. And not one drop.....And I am playing a 15996 GS control wizard.
Run those numbers and get back to me PWI

Has anyone seen any response from Devs about this horrible issue turning the game further into a grindfest? I thought they were so proud that it wasn't a grind-oriented experience, and yet HUNDREDS, literally HUNDREDS of us are plagued with having to battle an RNG across different classes, with different abilities to dps/contribute, not to mention a very difficult (long) timer to manage, and of course, the fact that with so many swarming to the Beholder fights, contribution is usually reduced to such tiny numbers, it's very much a lottery.
I don't think there's anyone that thinks the main hand grind is a fun challenge, experience or logical puzzle to beat. It's just "how long can you stay online and repeat this boring f'ing fight?'
So, again, have the devs said ANYTHING about the new drop rate, and how god-awful this experience is? I haven't heard a peep.

For real, and this is happening it would appear amongst most of us, the majority, not the minority. How do they stand by this reduction in drop rate?
The last MMO I played had a form or RNG but it was a guarnteed drop of some sort. Frankly what I wish they would do is have the Beholder and others drop one thing and let people roll for it ... eventually i'm think everyone would get something. The other problem is the spawn rate sucks so with this in mind, say the beholder and remohoraz and such should always drop their perspective pieces but always drop 3 pieces and then let everyone roll for it ... this way everyone knows something is dropping and its just a matter of getting the winning roll (not sure how those games deal with ties since well 20 - 50 people appear to be showing up for beholder fights).
In the dungeons, the other game I played always dropped something on the bosses before the final and the final always dropped a random set piece (token actually) but it would drop it for a random class ... but it was 100% the boss dropped something it was a matter of who in the group would get it. In this game the final boss can drop a set piece or some piece of junk no body wants and might not even be salvagable. Why they do this I have no idea. With the RNG the way it is in this game they really need to move non set pieces to other bosses (including optional bosses nobody seems to fight or know about) and let the final boss always drop a random set piece for some random class. Ideally keeping to the same formula of boots from one dungeon head from another gloves another etc.
I like where you are going with this, but I think it needs a little tweaking.
Some players can just come, hit the mob 1 time and afk and still have the same roll. This reduces the incentive to contribute and promotes leeching
There is not a single occasion where they've actually raised a drop rate in benefit of the players, this game is considered a grinder and you are about to find out what it really means. Anybody seriously grinding for the Elk Tribe gear has to be a HAMSTER btw. For most specs the gear isn't BIS anyhow, so you can safely skip the Mod.
I'm a completist sadly and the char closest to the goal is my CW where a second Main Hand is still missing.
Seeing more and more bots in IWD as well, only of of the many byproduct of horrible management. I honestly don't blame them and refrain from reporting in this particular case.
While waiting for the Epic Encounters, why aren't you doing the Major Encounters?
You need to get into the 180 bracket (you get 180 Black Ice among other things) to get anything meaningful. You need to finish in the top 2 (maybe 3) in Major Encounters or else you are left out with 75 Black Ice and nothing.
Even if you start Major Encounters alone there is a decent chance the place will be crowded eventually and you are unable to finish as high as you would need. I still do them on my CW because under certain circumstances I can be pretty sure to get the 180 and a chance for Elk Tribe / Black Ice gear. With other chars it's simply a waste.
If you need Black Ice, farming nodes with the purple tool is that much more profitable, especially since the open world is abandoned most of the time. The crafting stuff you need is peanuts at the AH so the only thing you need the encounters for is Black Ice and Elk Tribe gear. You wanna run Encounters that guarantee a chance and that's precisely why Minor and Major Encounters are completely dull.
1 - Put the mainhand and arms in Kessel's chest.
2 - Make the HEs drop Seals. Place a new Seal Vendor in Caer Konig. Let said vendor sell the mainhand and arms in exchange for the Seals you collect. Sharandar & Dread Ring have this facility.
3 - Add the crafting of the basic Black Ice mainhand and arms to the Black Ice profession and let us craft them before upgrading them.
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.
