The issue here is that the nerf applies to builds that haven't been complained about at all. Every CW, DC, GF, and GWF on the planet has complained about perma. I like the challenge, but most are annoyed by it and find it ridiculous, with good reason. The problem here is that Slam has never been an issue, it's one of the few skills in the game that was perfect as is. It's damage was negligible and great in PvE, and it's slow factor was very useful in PvP but definitely far from OP. No one has ever complained about it, which is what makes the nerf so shocking. Everyone knows about the perma issue. I've seen "perma ***" thrown around so much in PvP it isn't funny. Never have I heard something like "Slam ***", and there's a reason, it's a balanced skill currently. No problems with it.

copti every time i see your post it makes me wonder if your a cryp employee, slam lost 80 % of its damage not 60% and the only reason it was the go to daily is because all the others SUCK and are beyond worthless. the mitigation is useless as the only people that want you in a group are guild mates, and if you are there then you usually wont be worried about a measly 15% mitigation, I know my groups could care less about it and would rather me do more damage.

Did you actually read my post or did you just see my name and assumed I am defending Cryptic's logic? If you take all 5 of the GWF dailies and establish a baseline of damage output per second, then compare each of the daily relative to that baseline then Slam is most definitely Overpowered. And that is logic Cryptic is selling.
If you are among those that say that Slam should have actually been the standard by which other dailies measured up, which is what the majority feel, myself included, then we're all wasting our time begging the devs to reconsider the change. Instead of a dozen posts all QQing about the same thing, you should have been bombarding this forum for months demanding from the devs to buff the other dailies. You know **** well that Slam was NEVER the reason you got invited to CN, and even after the change it won't be the reason you don't get invited. Alot of people are being super dramatic with claims that one Daily is what makes or breaks this class. In fact if this is true than the class needs a major overhaul and that's what the GWF community should be up in arms about, not freaking Slam.
Now about the 15% mitigation, I am curious how it plays out, and I think it will be useful for the majority of the player base. You along with others that say their pathetic guilds will drop their spots after this change, believe it or not, are not a representation of the player base. The vast majority of players are not farming CN. Most are farming first/second boss. The vast majority run pugs. The vast majority are spamming zone chat looking for DD runs. Those players regardless of their class, are struggling. Those are the ones that may benefit from the 15% mitigation.

Using slam is easy and brainless that is why so many folks run it. Fire and forget. Folks that want to depend on slam are gimping themselves.
Slam is nothing more than a threat generator. 12 seconds for full completion of a daily pretty much tells you it is a utility and not for damage. A great use is in Spell Plague when the GWF goes over and helps the TR damage the boss. 12 seconds of "agro to me" instead of the TR.
Avalanche takes some consideration. Like where to land to set up a NSF/IBS and/or Roar and repeat. A prime example is as follows;
I play an instigating role. I charge in and aggro one or two groups of mobs. Once they start running towards me and clustering I hit superman and become immune. While I am in the air the CW drops a singularity on the now massive group of mobs. I land knocking most everything prone before his singularity is finished and use NSF/IBS/Roar combination and fill my AP and back in the air I go. Slam takes a minimum of 12 seconds before you can use it again. No such constraint on Avalanche.

I agree with this. People need to learn and adapt. This game is still young as an MMO and we should expect more changes.

The only real concern I have with this game so far is its attempts to make money actually. I grew up in the nes/snes generation where when you bought a game you got all it had to offer. In this generation almost every game I play plugs itself into my wallet and begs you to spend. It's rather annoying really considering I game to avoid spending money. This game however I've not been the least bit tempted to pay for anything and am doing awesome , but, in there lies my concern. How is this game going to make any money (so that it may stay and evolve) when it is good enough without any money being put into it? I guess we will just wait and see. So far though this game is at the top of my MMO list and I've played all the major MMOs for going on 10 years. I just hope it gets harder soon (I'm lvl 16) or I'm really going to lose interest.

and so this nerf to slam is in some sense the GWF players fault for not screaming about why all our dailies are not as powerful as slam. The answer I have given several times is that there were other more pressing issues compared to which having only Slam (and arguably Avalanche in some circumstances) as a powerful daily was a minor thing.
It seems disingenuous at best to argue that the fact the GWF players' weren't complaining about something that was not really broken since other classes have a default go-to Daily, e.g. Hallowed Ground for DCs and Arcane Singularity for CW, especially as the GWF class has so many other issues, somehow means that this nerf is justified or even to be expected.

It was not nerfed for pvp are you kidding me the only use slam had for PvP is the slow it was already a utility skill for PvP and it will still be for after the nerf. So the nerf dose not have any BAD effect for slam in pvp cause no one used it for the dmg in PvP but now it will be slightly better for pvp with the new debuff it adds anyway the only nerf that really hit slam for pvp is the loss of 2 second's to its duration.
This is a blatant out of the blue nerf to a skill that was fine as this is a nerf the will hit its PvE Value more then its PvP Value. Now that we got that out of the way They could have buffed up the other daily's to be half as good as slam but didn't why cause no one cared for the other dailies and never actually posted any forums asking to up there effectiveness

The spinning blade PBAoE daily would not be so bad if the dmg didn't suck and we could cancel the cast it would be better if during the spin we were Un CCable and immune to dmg also give it a larger radias

Again in PvE who really cares for 4 second of dmg immunity but during the 4 second animation your also not contributing **** to dps or any thing for that matter till you land hell i would take spinning and slot steel defense over this if i really wanted immunity.
Slam Currently Best AoE daily hands down fire and forget great dmg and if used with steel defense blows avalanche out the water if you really want immunity dose not lock you in a cast animation will tick and dps even if your KD or CCed great feats for this skill also in sentinel and Destroyer Lines. I don't think there is a single Con to using slam Like there is with the other daily's you culd probly do much more with slam then what i mentioned i am sure. P.S about slams target cap slam will tick to the next available target after the one of the effected targets die. But hell who uses slam On trash any way when you CW will bump it off ledges.
Cresendo nothing much to see sick single target daily lock you in animation easly fixed with steel defense so theirs no downside to using it it stuns and prones.

-12% deflect from a class that can get up to at least 58% deflect rating is not gonna hurt sent the sent tree is not OP ITS NOT EVEN THE FEATS THAT MAKE IT OP FOR GOD SAKE unstoppable is not even the main problem for PvP with the sent build. This Update dose not do anything but Gimp the GWF for PvE i think it actually makes sent stronger and have more synergy with slam In PvP now cause that's more dmg resistance that cant be touched by Skills like RoE HV And what not.

This is the last time I will ask you to show me proof that any discussion took place in this forum that compares to the many threads that started over the last 3 days with regards to Slam. Why don't you go ahead and be pro-active and start just one thread addressing all these "important" issues, which you havent even mentioned one so far. But you still thought it was crucial to this discussion to write 3 posts about my cryptic comment.

Fair enough - I actually agree since I started this thread to bring up an important issue
The problem is though when some people try to mention irrelevant items such as (allegedly) how good their job is to try to score points. But I am happy to let the matter rest since I have made clear my opinion on how laughable this is.
Let's try again. Someone wanted to know why we are complaining about Slam being nerfed since he felt that
and so this nerf to slam is in some sense the GWF players fault for not screaming about why all our dailies are not as powerful as slam. The answer I have given several times is that there were other more pressing issues compared to which having only Slam (and arguably Avalanche in some circumstances) as a powerful daily was a minor thing.
It seems disingenuous at best to argue that the fact the GWF players' weren't complaining about something that was not really broken since other classes have a default go-to Daily, e.g. Hallowed Ground for DCs and Arcane Singularity for CW, especially as the GWF class has so many other issues, somehow means that this nerf is justified or even to be expected.
I have never seen any of the pulses crit, further limiting it's usage.
What is anyone's best total slam damage at 12 seconds on 5 targets that anyone has seen? 80K?
Why are people fretting over a daily that takes TWELVE seconds to deliver FULL effect?
I can only attribute this to PVP. In PVP then yes it is an awesome skill and will get slotted.

But have you ever seen a thread or even a post complaining about Slam in PvP? I haven't, and I would assume if it was a significant issue I should have seen at least one.
Also this change might even BUFF Slam's utility for PvP. 15% mitigation on 5 enemies in PvE for a few seconds is pretty meh. 15% mitigation for a team-fight on a node in PvP could be pretty useful...
So how does this change make any sense whatsoever?
It was not nerfed for pvp are you kidding me the only use slam had for PvP is the slow it was already a utility skill for PvP and it will still be for after the nerf. So the nerf dose not have any BAD effect for slam in pvp cause no one used it for the dmg in PvP but now it will be slightly better for pvp with the new debuff it adds anyway the only nerf that really hit slam for pvp is the loss of 2 second's to its duration.
This is a blatant out of the blue nerf to a skill that was fine as this is a nerf the will hit its PvE Value more then its PvP Value. Now that we got that out of the way They could have buffed up the other daily's to be half as good as slam but didn't why cause no one cared for the other dailies and never actually posted any forums asking to up there effectiveness
There are 3 dailies in regards to AOE/Multiple targets. Spinning Strike, Slam, Avalanche of Steel. The rest is for single target.
I have yet to test Spinning Strike although I am theorizing that it would synergize well with a perfect lightning making for one hell of a light show.
Regarding Avalanche of Steel...they would have to nerf it into the ground to make it half as good as Slam. Avalanche is our AOE daily and once you stop resisting and actually start testing and using it you will be forever in the dark. Come out into the light.
The spinning blade PBAoE daily would not be so bad if the dmg didn't suck and we could cancel the cast it would be better if during the spin we were Un CCable and immune to dmg also give it a larger radias
Savage advance its just plain bad Needs a Huge buff or a complete overhaul and re working
Avalanche would be good for PvE if it had even the slightest bit of utility and its quite a selfish daily i suppose you can coordinate with your guildys on how to use this skill in a epic dungeon run but hell that takes to much effort witch makes this skill even less PUG Friendly. Again in PvE who really cares for 4 second of dmg immunity but during the 4 second animation your also not contributing **** to dps or any thing for that matter till you land hell i would take spinning and slot steel defense over this if i really wanted immunity.
Slam Currently Best AoE daily hands down fire and forget great dmg and if used with steel defense blows avalanche out the water if you really want immunity dose not lock you in a cast animation will tick and dps even if your KD or CCed great feats for this skill also in sentinel and Destroyer Lines. I don't think there is a single Con to using slam Like there is with the other daily's you culd probly do much more with slam then what i mentioned i am sure. P.S about slams target cap slam will tick to the next available target after the one of the effected targets die. But hell who uses slam On trash any way when you CW will bump it off ledges.
Cresendo nothing much to see sick single target daily lock you in animation easly fixed with steel defense so theirs no downside to using it it stuns and prones.
Because the Devs are dumb as hell instead of fixing the exploits which would balance the game along with the roles of the classes and that their focus for balancing classes is mainly for PvP. Just how the Astral Shield nerf made GWF a bit more viable by NOT having 2 DC in a group. The Devs are so slow fixing the exploits of the game, I do not like ppl using bugs to kill the spider queen or to get to FH Last boss, or to this and that. Makes items cheap to sell and people can just pay2win out the cheap gears in AH because of all the exploits.
Good thing they are nerfing deflect, but slam is too much what they need to nerf is unstoppable. It is way OP and I was fine with the unstoppable BEFORE they decided to buff it with no reason nor logic.
-12% deflect from a class that can get up to at least 58% deflect rating is not gonna hurt sent the sent tree is not OP ITS NOT EVEN THE FEATS THAT MAKE IT OP FOR GOD SAKE unstoppable is not even the main problem for PvP with the sent build. This Update dose not do anything but Gimp the GWF for PvE i think it actually makes sent stronger and have more synergy with slam In PvP now cause that's more dmg resistance that cant be touched by Skills like RoE HV And what not.
