Yes - the Sentinel path is more tank-oriented, while destroyer is DPS, and the other one (Instigator IIRC) is sort of control-oriented.

That's an odd resolution. Do you mean 1366 x 768 or maybe 1280 x 720? The former is a pretty common laptop resolution, and the latter is "720P".

Sounds like the Blacklake district...

1. It's working now O.o I joined the guild from someone called Abbie, she's nice :)
2. At what level can I start focussing on 1 or another?
3. 1360 x 768
I'm using a computer, no laptop.
It's saying Windowed Maximized but I don't see a difference with fullscreen...
4. Yes that's the place.

Also, I've played different other mmo's and I've lead raids in a raid that requires 80-100 people, this made me very organised (keeping different chats separated). So I got a General, Party, Guild, Trade/LFG, Whisper and Other chat tabs but it seems I can only view 3 at the same time....Either General, Party and Guild OR Trade/LFG, Whisper and Other...
Can I change this?
Might be terms used are different here so my idea of chat tab=1 chat you can click in the top of the chat box which contains only the chats you assigned to them

Ohh cool thanks, I've been wondering can other people have the same custom channel as mine I mean, if I made a Custom Channel named 'Custom' can they make there own custom channel named 'Custom'?

Thanks for the answer!

No.

Furthermore, channels are shared across all 3 Cryptic games. So if someone made a channel called custom in Champions Online, you could join it and chat with them while in Neverwinter.

Question: About Custom Channels, Is there a way to have a shortcut in sending a message in that channel? I know about binds, what I need to know is the command. '/c' '/c Channel Name' '/c Channel_Name' '/c_Channel_Name' '/channelsend' '/channelsend Channel Name', I think that's the commands I've tried so far and none of them worked.

You can make a key bind. For instance, for the NW_Legit_Community custom chat channel I created, I use the following bind:

/bind numpad7 "startchatwith /c nw_legit_community "

I then need only press 7 on the number pad, type what I want to say, then press enter, to send that message into the NW_Legit_Community channel.

*If the channel name had spaces in it, you'd need to surround the channel name with an additional set of quotation marks.

Hope that helps!

Hi. can anyone hint me how can i do skirmish dungeon quest if i am over-leveled for this dungeon? i've tried to join several teams, but can't enter dungeon's doors. so far i only managed to get in with companion, but that too much for me.

For Skirmish: You won't be able to do that Skirmish again unless there's a Call to Arms Event.

For Dungeons: You can only re-enter it manually by going to the map where that dungeon exist.

My answers assume you outleveled this Skirmishes and Dungeons.

PS: If my answers are wrong, correcting me would be appreciated.

You seem to be talking two different things here. Skirmishes are not the same as Dungeons and do not have doors or any physical point of entry.

For Skirmishes, the only way to enter one is by the queue. And if you are over leveled for one. You simply can no longer do it, period. There are special events called Call to Arms that happen randomly and alter one single skirmish to open to anyone of any level. But currently they are rare and random and not to be counted on. To date, there have been only 3.

Dungeons generally have doors located on the adventure zone maps and can be entered manually, bypassing the queue (The current exceptions to this are Malabogs Castle, and Castle Nevar. Both have to be entered with a full group via the queue)

If you enter manually, you have the choice to go in solo or with your group. Your group will need to also enter the dungeon with you from the door. If you try it any other way it wont work.

It can be quite fun to take a friend or two and go back to a dungeon you missed, taking the time to really look around and appreciate the scenery. When you're overlevelled, the difficulty being scaled for a full party of five is fairly manageable with a smaller number of players.

To enter a dungeon in a party though the door, you do need to all be in the same map instance. You can access this interface through your map or the blue glowing rune on your minimap. Whoever changes instances will be transported to the nearest campfire or respawn point, and then you can meet up at your dungeon door.

Question: Guardian Fighter Skills, for those who have been playing dungeons with Guardian Fighter's who uses the skill "Into the Fray", has this been any use to you guys, is the skill worthy of getting a point? Or would you rather have your tank using the skill "Iron Warrior", please explain your answer thank you, also it will be appreciated, if you add some other skills to make that other skill useful.

PS: I'm not a Full-On Tank type GF, I just have those extra points to use.

Also still cannot make threads, any my signature is still disabled.

"into the fray" is a great encounter for dungeon parties as it boosts movement, action point gain and other things that i can't think of at the moment. but it's great for you and your party.

as for iron warrior, i didn't put points into that on my GF.

New Question: As I've been playing through the game, I've noticed some unfamiliar terms, so what is a Control Power? Also, I think there are some other terms, I completely forgot if you don't mind do tell it in your reply with an explanation of what that term is.

Thanks again!

Control power is just that. Anything that controls a mob. Cryptic is a little funkey on what exactly qualifies for it. Some powers that you would think count, dont. While others do. But basically, any knock or stun effect should count for it and give you the bonus.

As far as the other question they both have their uses. In to the Frey is more group friendly, it buffs you and the whole team. Iron Warrior on the other hand is all about you. Its a great "Oh crud!" button to have handy. It quickly refills your block meter and gives you a ton of temp health, based on your remaining health. The more hurt you are, the more it helps. It can turn a "I'm not sure i'm gonna win this" situation around completely.

Buffs and De-Buffs counts as control power?

Another Question: Is there something wrong with my GF or I'm really having a hard time making all the enemies attack me? Even with the threat bonuses I have, they still go for the CW or DC most of the time, even if I try spamming tab button.
• sockmunkeysockmunkey Member Posts: 4,622 Arc User

buffs and de-duffs are generally not control powers. Control powers are generally anything that disables or prevents an enemy from attacking. Like Stuns or knocks.

As far as threat control. Part of it is understanding how GF threat works here. Its a bit different from other games.

First of all, your main taunt, your mark. Does almost nothing by itself. Hitting tab will mark the target with the big red x, but if you dont follow it up with something else it will not help you.

What mark does, is lower the targets Damage resistance, giving you a bit of a bonus to hurt it. It also doubles your threat while striking it. So if you've just marked and not hit it, you've done nothing to build your threat. On top of that, if you get hit, you loose your mark. The ONLY way to keep a target marked long enough to build threat is to attack while blocking.

This is why having encounter powers that also provide threat are so vital. Its hard to keep and maintain threat simply by using your guarded at-wills alone.

Enforced Threat will be your main bread and butter "come over here" power. It marks, does damage, and forces them to engage you for a bit. Hopefully long enough to keep them there.

Threatening Rush is a fantastic at-will power that lets you close to a target quickly, do damage, mark it and all his buddies near him. Arguably one of your best opening moves.

Finally, the class feature power Enhanced mark. Allows your mark to build threat on its own, and greatly increases threat generated by damage. If you are trying to hold agro without this power slotted you are simply making it harder for yourself.

what it really comes down to, is you need to get in a few good hits to get and hold agro from the rest of the group. The group needs to be aware of this. If anyone jumps in first and tries to be the hero, your odds of being able to pull it off them are reduced greatly.

By that same token you should be hitting and marking EVERYTHING. If it doesn't have a big red x, give it one. For maximum threat you shouldn't be hitting anything without a big red x. Remember mark alone doubles your threat from damage, that is hard to ignore. And a maxed out Enhanced Mark power adds another 99% increase on top of that. The real trick is keeping them marked long enough for your damage to count.

Thank you for those answers, I guess I should have asked everything all at once.

1. I have another question about Blocking, if I were to block infront of my ally who my ally get hit? In another sentence is block only for me or can I actually make my allies invulnerable if I block infront of them?

2. In PVP, is there some kind of stats, overall stats - where I see how many kills I've got, games played, maybe KDR?

2.5 A follow up question, I tried PVP'ing well my friend queued as to try our gears which is a T1 Set w/ Normal Enchantments and Rank 5 Enchantments, and we got owned, it seems that trying PVP at level 60 was a bad idea, and I believe I would have a hard time practicing with so much OP enemies, watching videos or reading a guide won't really work on me, because I tend to learn by myself when it's about skills and techniques, anyways the question would be, is there actually another way to train yourself for lvl 60 pvp or at least to queue yourself on a pvp with almost the same Gear Scores with you? Will there be some kind of duel system, so that people could actually try fighting, 1v1 to practice, maybe a joust?

3. About @handle name's, I've made mine capitalize and I don't see them capitalized here in the forums nor in game, but in Arc, PWE Site it's capitalized, also some of the people in game have there @handle name capitalize, why is it like that? It's not a big deal, but still..

Just gonna add this question again because of the fact it wasn't really answered.

4.
Question: About Accounts, is there a way to use my username when logging in, because I can only log in using my email, I registered here in Neverwinter (https://register.perfectworld.com/nw_splash) not in the Perfect World (https://register.perfectworld.com/register).

In Neverwinter it asks the following:
Email - Display Name (Which counts for Forum Name, Arc Name)

In Perfect World it asks the following:
User Name - Forum Name - Email

So I wonder, if I made my account in the Perfect World would I be able to use my User Name in the Arc, In-Game, and maybe in the Forums? I like my Display Name, it's just annoying because it's so much easier to type my Display Name rather than my Email.

Also here in the Forums, when would I be able to post some threads? Why won't my Signature work, I'm using (Change the <> to []).

Thank you again!

PS: There's a total of 4 Questions, numbering them all just put the number of the question you're gonna answer on your reply.

About question 1. No, blocking by itself wont protect other team members. However, the encounter power Knight's Valor allows the GF to take 50% of your entire teams damage. Its handy for getting those annoying archer mobs from putting holes in your poor cleric. But it can also turn badly for you. If the whole group decides standing still and eating a massive AoE, all at once, is a good idea. Far to many GFs have been one shotted by their own group that way.

2. PVP is not really my thing, so I cant offer much for this. But I don't believe there is any of that.

Currently the game is based around team play. The classes have a paper, rock, scissors type of play that makes 1v1 duels rather unrewarding. Classes simply arn't made to beat each and every class equally. That said, dueling is high on the PVP want list, its one of those things that might, eventually, get added.

For 3 and 4, sadly not much I can offer on those as well. My cryptic account dates back before the PWE changes. So much has changed, been altered, and merged that I'm honestly not sure how it works for newer folks anymore. Its a bit of a convoluted mess that should be much easier to use and understand.

Anyways another question regarding PVP, What is it for? I know a few things, I just wanna know if there's more.

PVP is for: Fun for those who love to play PVP, PVP Armor Set, Achievements, anything else?

I PvP quite a bit so here are my comments:

If you go up against a team of well geared players (especially a pre-made) chances are you are going to get rolled. Don't let it get you down. I fight in Tier 1 gear with rank 5 enchants (and a lesser Vorpal enchant), and do quite well, but sometimes you will simply go up against better geared and experienced enemies. A well geared TR can 2-3 shot you, a well geared CW can keep you locked down and kill you before you can reach him, and a Determined GWF is just nasty. DC's can be almost unkillable and while GF seem a little lacking compared to the other 4 classes a good one can stun lock you and tear you apart. Slowly work on improving your characters gear, and if you are in a guild assemble a pre-made, then queue.

Gear isn't everything however (although it does help a great deal). I have fought people that bought some of the best possible and still could not play their class properly. Knowing when to stun an enemy, or anticipate and dodge his attacks is critical and only time will make you a force to be reckoned with in PvP.

Hmm, well I've tried PVP again before seeing your post, I guess I was just really unlucky to fight some really geared up experienced pre-made foes, after trying again well I actually survived and won the game with an incomplete T1 set, which practically somes up what you're saying right now.

I just had one problem, not a big one though because I think it's on my side, if I spam threatening rush, click and click simultaneously the attack won't hit, I actually have to wait to see it hit on before I click again, same for other dash attacks (lunging strike), tried spamming it on a nearly dead player and my character goes back to it's original position when I try to spam it.

Is this normal? Probably a internet connection problem? I only do 1 Mbps.

And yes I believe this only happens in PVP have to re-check this on dungeons, but right now it's only in PVP.
PVP OBSERVATION:
I'm a GF and here is my observation about PVP:
When fighting another GF or GWF, it takes a long time before one of you dies.
CW: If I managed to get to him first, he's basically the dead one.
TR: A lucky block can turn the battle around.
DC: I don't know (Usually my allies kills them before I get to fight them)

And blocking is really effective especially when used wisely.

I think I found a fix, it only happens if:

1. You're spamming the Rush Skill.
2. The player is dead before you get to hit the player unless it's around 0.??%
3. Pressing down W (Forward) then pressing the skill once on the right range, would make the skill hit and not bug you back to your original position.

This are just my observations, it might or might not work on you.

At around level 11 or 16, you should get a quest from Sgt. Knox to talk to the profession vendor in the Seven Sons Coster Market. Even before then, if you are at least level 11, you can press N in game, select a profession, and train your first worker. You then need to perform tasks to level up the profession and/or produce various goods. For general use, I recommend you focus on the Leadership profession, as it produces astral diamonds, XP for you, and chests that contain useful items, (potions, skill kits, enchantments, etc).

Ok, so the new patch came with something called a "Respec" I'm guessing that's a total remake of all the powers and feats for your char. Everyone was supposed to get a token for a free respec. None of my chars did. However it looks like my Clerics and my GWF all got the mandatory respec. Bummer... I have no idea what powers and feats I had taken before with these chars... would have been nice if before everything was blanked, I had the chance to look em over.

So, I'm wondering... where does this leave my Clerics and my GWF? I have to remake them, right? Good part of this is I can now try out the new paths... But what about my other chars? With no "free respec" token, do I have to pay to try their new paths? Or just trash my chars and start over??

I swear folks... I do try to read the patch notes... I really do... But I get lost and confused as to where to find them ahead of time, and after a patch... well, it's a tad late to find out that your whole char is junk.

I know I'm just crying in my coffee here... thanks for putting up with me, ya'll.

Your token isn't an inventory item. Simply go to your feats or powers page and look in the lower left corner for the respec button. If its lit up you have one. If its greyed out, you dont.

The forced respec on your Cleric and GWF simply reset your feats, your powers are unchanged. You can reselect all your feats and still keep your free respec. Handy if you wish to also redo your powers later. Something you most likely will want to do, if you explore the other paragon paths.

I would also advice trying out any and all changes on the preview server before you commit to anything. It is simply the best way to get the most out of your respec.

Blast! Just popped on and took another look at my Clerics and GWF. It's only their Feats that were wiped out. So... no free look at the new Paragon Paths for me. Aw well, This is what I've come to expect from this company... Very little in the way of explainations, very little in the way of truly "free" parts to the game...

What a waste of time this game has been so far. I do enjoy "playing" this game, everything up to the mid 30's has been a blast so far. Haven't enjoyed that wickedly tough spot in the wood... Some Wolf den or something like that.... Have yet to be able to win past it, so my chars are getting bogged down there, I don't like that to do a good amount of the stuff here, you have to have maxed out at 60. What's the point?? Ya make 60th level... ya get no more levels... you don't grow anymore... so what are you playing for?? This maybe how MMO's play, but it seems silly to me. There should be much more lower level content to work through. And it probably would be much more fun to play, if ya didn't have to take the same route.... over and over again... char after char.... Are all MMO's so very straight line??

Ah well.. so it goes... that's life in the big city....
