Somewhat true, but no question, a lot of the people who worked today weren't planning to do so.
Nope. Managers, producers, etc.
no soup for you!!!

while I respect the devs giving their time on Sunday and the great work that they do, these updates are beginning to sound like teasers, something to keep one interested. I realize they are hard pressed and that work they do I cant, ugh, guess I just getting impatient..
I still say they should hang these exploiters by the short hair.
and the devs are doing a good job..."tips hat and raises glass of beer" to the devs
The plan is already being put into action, the decisions being made are what to tell us and how to word it.
Exactly.
this is a delicate issue, and obviously what they have decided to do is very major, and that's why they will need to be very careful and thorough with how they explain it.
then again, for most of the posters on this forum, it doesn't matter what Cryptic says. they are still going to act like the world is ending regardless.

LOL, do you think they are not being paid to do their jobs?
You do all realize that there's no specific, ultra-official definition of "Beta" as put forth by the "International Accredited Council of Betaness" don't you? You're arguing over something that changes from company to company, or even project to project.
In this case, it's probably more of an indicator of a certain distance between where the game is and where they want to be for an official launch. I mean, honestly, most companies now are doing "open Beta" as a free promotion to the game to get people to buy it, and not as part of their official QA process at all.
The only problem with a character wipe is that there's a new GAME BREAKING exploit that is found every other week. Say they do a wipe, only to have someone find another exploit that completely crashes the game? Will they do another wipe?
The best way, is the band-aid method, which is to do a 24 hours rollback. Yes, there were some people that knew about it and were exploiting since the Gateway came up, but it was only fully known to all within the past 24 hours. Do a rollback and then hunt down the people that were exploiting the Gateway.
You can't be having full wipes every other week, which sadly, the game would have to have in its current state. Every other freaking week there's some crazy exploit that crashes the economy now.

seeing as how it's now after midnight where i live, I've officially read more then i have ever cared to read about this exploit... i'm going to drag my *** to bed
What a total joke, I will never play on and definitely not pay on any of these servers. Fine don't wipe them, leave them exactly as they are - but start a new server from scratch for those of us that don't want to play in a tainted economy you have no way of fixing. And nothing from these servers should ever be merged or transferred to any others.
Your greed did this to you. You put out a product that is in fact in beta condition but decided to fully release your revenue generation model and now you have a mess you are not willing or able to fix.

... ever two hours they post an update.. about their updates.. so ... plans of actions take two hours each ?
No, we haven't seen a single plan of action yet. So far that would put us at 9 hours and 20 minutes each. Updates on when said plan of action is coming take 2 hours each.
TL;DR No one has any idea what the hell is going on.
Look, in GW2's beta, they opened their cash shop, but they made it clear there was going to be a wipe between open beta and launch. They said they were going to restore all the gems that people bought during that wipe process (and they did). That was a true open beta. This is not, this is PR garbage. They can call it whatever they want, but when you say "no more character wipes" then you've committed the game is effectively released. This is a company that wants it both ways. They want the increased income generation from the cash shop of a live game but the "cover" of Beta from a PR standpoint when stuff breaks. It just doesn't fly for me.
can't say i disagree with anything you've said really, but people still have the choice whether to pay cash for items in this beta game. that's still a choice. i'm neutral because i'm not invested (except for time, but that's also a choice), but i can't say it doesn't worry me that the pay-during-beta thing is becoming the norm. i do have some concerns about it. it makes sense with indie developers whose games wouldn't even launch without that kind of ground-support. but this isn't an indie developer.

That could be a dangerous precedent. Will there be a wipe every time there is a major exploit?
Something along these lines could happen again. It's software.
That is a very sanitary choice

depends on which way
Who cares if they wipe? It's beta, right? (that's sarcasm, btw)
Just stating my opinion. I still vote wipe.
roflmao....
I think they may be paid overtime, they may be paid a salary.
They may have also planned to spend their Sunday at home with their families.
It's no always black and white.
No, on the next update they will tell us that the NEXT update is coming soon.

This is one of the smartest comments yet ......
I Just cant stop lmao on that Hahahah:rolleyes:

But paid in Zen though?
