It's looking like most races will have a +2 to two stats except humans?
If it's to stay close to pnp shouldn't it be +2 to ANY ?
Tell me it's not so.
I am sure they will get bonus at-will too. They just decided not to include it here maybe.

I think now I've done some exploring they get a bonus to their attack and defense while others get just one of the two. But not sure. When we have beta regularly running, then we can compare and contrast mains/alts.
We dont have nearly enough info to know that just yet. One of the best things about Humans is that they are very adaptable: they can be literally any class without much problem and succeed. Because of their adaptable nature, Humans start with lower base stats but more feats and skills than other races.
In 4E Humans are supposed to get +2 to only one stat, unlike the other races who get a pair of bonuses, but the +2 Humans get can be to any of the six stats.
On balance, Humans are excellent at most classes(much more so than any other race), but are slightly weaker at classes that need two max stats or are dependent on 3+ ability scores (when you need decent scores in four stats, the loss of the second +2 hurts).
They also get three solid racial abilities, which put them on par with the best of 4E's races. The extra feat isn't as powerful as it was in 3E (4E's feats aren't as game changing and is less valuable since you get more during the course of the game), its still pretty strong.
The +1 to Fort/Ref/Will is one of the most overlooked racial features, and is insanely powerful in pnp, questionable value in Neverwinter Online. The third At-Will attack is either worthless (on a class like Ranger who uses one attack 90% of the time) or fantastic (on a class like Bard, Wizard or Druid who rely on being versatile).
Played a bard in EQ1, didn't really enjoy it as much as my druid. perhaps NW will handle it differently.
Ranger would be interesting...

*tears hair out at propriatary wall.* Well, the developers have their reasons. We'll hear about it soon when they want to share the details on this comparison with the other races....
Oh well druids of course would have been in my short list, but can it be done well?
I challenge Stormshade to answer this one question,
Will this game ever contain a believable druid player class?
DDO delayed it for years for a reason, because their druid is not believable, imho, as their companion AI is abysmal. Can Cryptic improve on Turbine's effort to make a playable druid class worthwhile down the road?

Aye your right about them being more adaptable and thus why its only one +2 but to any stat.
From what I'm seeing that has been changed to +2 to con period unless the info is incorrect? Which was my main inquiry.

This is the new stats distribution system isn't it?
Looks to me they decided to go with the old method but then decided humans get +2 con( no choice in the matter) thereby undoing their "adaptability" and one of the reasons they get one less +2.
tieflings are shunned by other races but get +2 charimsa? these bonuses do make less and less sense...
and unless you can critically hit with magic - which i dunno- there blood hunt is kinda meh...
Tieflings are NOT shunned by other races. Remember, the 4E story of their origin is an old empire generations ago against the Dragonborn generations ago. They have Cha because many came from warlocks which uses force of will/personality thus the +2 Cha or wizards thus +2 Int.

I don't know about nemesis, but I wouldn't shun her
Maybe it's his first time with a tiefling, once ya get them out of their less-than-social shell, they can get kinda rowdy, especially with the lights dimmed down..........
Tieflings are supposed to get +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma.
Also a +2 racial bonus on Bluff and Hide checks.
Loving darkness they make hella great rogues.
They are generally sneaky, subtle, and generally conniving.
Well, this has been the reasoning since tieflings were introduced back in 1993.
Fast forward to the 4e re-work of tieflings.... with a cha boost, that would lean some to roll tieflings as ..... Paladins (assuming Paladins are actually a playable class)??? That's ridiculous.
(In 4e talk, you could take Wrath of the Crimson Legion. It gives you cha based melee basic attacks, with full damage bonus. 2nd level you can pick up a multiclass feat, such as soldier of faith).
Just as ironic (and moronic if you ask me), the one Martial path 4e tieflings excel at is the most visible one on the battlefield. Warlord.
All around butchering of the d&d tradition, yuck.
Lastly, if we MUST do things the 4e way, in terms of 4e statistics, Tieflings gain a bonus to Intelligence or Constitution (player selectable) and to Charisma.
Does this mean WE DO NOT GET TO PICK OUR STARTING STATS?!!

If you look at page 2 post number 17 Andre I kind of asked this question too but using humans as an example.
I'm not a 4e expert by far but from what I have found there was 2 methods for stats, the old way and the new way. Been waiting for some input from peeps that are more familiar with 4e but so far zippo just some humorous posting.
In my previous post if one looks you can see the old method was each race had 2 stats bonuses that are FIXED except for a couple races. The new method had one FIXED stat and one you could CHOOSE.

Yeah I am no 4e expert that's for sure. My loyalty ends at 3.5e. 2e was D&D nirvana for me.
However, I'm giving it my all to try and wrap myself around making sense of 4e... but the more I read about it.. the more I see that's changed... and apparently will change again in Neverwinter Online.

The problem is the changes not just to the 4E system (where you do pick your stats and apply only racial bonuses no penalties which one is fixed and the second is between two stats like Ability scores: +2 Charisma, +2 Constitution or +2 Intelligence for the Tiefling [and yes Aandre, they are mainly warlocks so it makes sense they have force of will as their fixed stat for Cha;]) but also to the MMO game (unknown if we build our stat points or they are pre assigned but looking like the races have fixed attributes instead for both) which has to be adapted from that tabletop system.
However, I'm giving it my all to try and wrap myself around making sense of 4e... but the more I read about it.. the more I see that's changed... and apparently will change again in Neverwinter Online.
It's also changing again, majorly, for the new D&D Next Ruleset slated for 2014. From what I understand and have seen, D&D Next is going back to the roots with less emphasis on the Rules and more Emphasis on DM Choice. The issue that has lead to many not liking 3rd and 4th, myself included, was that they were mainly developed by "normal developers" and not D&D Playing Developers.
D&D Next is being rebuilt from the ground up by some of the remaining founding fathers of D&D, namely Ed Greenwood and other major Authors like R.A. Salvatore. I'm liking what I am seeing so far and might actually convert my Campaign to D&D Next from its current 2nd Ed Ruleset. Time will tell, as well that is permiting that we survive the end of the Mayan Calendar in a couple months. ;-P
Teiflings got +2 charisma because in 3.5 they had a penalty to charisma which made them a bad choice for sorcerers and warlocks. This was countered with a very common houserule that gave either a bonus to save dc or a bonus to effective charisma making it so that you weren't penalized for something that was a common sense combination. Note here that Pathfinder kept the effective charisma bonus. It should also be said that charisma is your ability to affect the world around you using force of personality, not a measure of how much people like you. Charisma could be just as much yelling and screaming threats as it could be half whispered promises and lies; tieflings could sway to either of these depending on the character. Whether characters like tieflings or hate them it was their ability to effect their will that got them the bonus.
Since it was brought up I've liked a lot of things I've seen in DnD Next. A lot of things I didn't Like about 4e are going back to what I liked in 3.5 but there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Pretty much agree. Just understand all that NEXT is using the attributes for the ability checks with optional rules ammended to that which allows the cherry picking of your edition's favorite things. Pretty much.

Was waiting for this one
The rest one can guess from pnp.
So does "strikes" mean spells also seems a good question.

4e druids do not change into four footed form. They remain on two foot even when changed.
Genasi would be different. All those animations of fire and water - the helmets and armor would have to be redone for them differently.
Dwarf Cleric's for the win!
Aye, Dwarf Clerics! But ermm.. what would you call him?
Wait ... think I got it...
