Temporary/Permanent Hair Dyes?

iandarkswordiandarksword Member Posts: 978 Arc User
It's a fantasy setting, the ability to transmute one's hair color via magical means or physical dyes seems plausible right? How about a vendor in the rather empty Tower of Alteration that, for a fee or token, can change hair color gradient to something more...extravagant? I've heard this suggestion several times in the past from other players, and I think it can garner support. Heck, going by live streams, even several of the devs have embraced this suggestion IRL, (am I right @midnightlight#2361 and @nitocris83?) Is this fairly difficult to implement? Would it pass WotC approval? As a DM, I'd allow it in my personal tabletop game. What do other players think?

+1. I love this idea. :) My hair IRL is currently purple. I love having it different colors, and I would love for my characters in-game to have more colors to choose from!

I like the idea about having different hair dye. While we're on the subject of hair, I'd really like to be able to transmute my character's hair like Catti-brie's long braided ponytail. I know that I've mentioned this before and I'm not sure how feasible that would be but I think it's a unique hair style within game characters that would give more variety for female hair styles.

@bitt3rnightmar3 When the Foundry was available, you could create an NPC with Cattie-Brie's hairstyle as well as Valindra's, Drizzt's, even Wulfgar's. It was one of the few things that actually worked right up until this past update. It's plausible, seeing that the style exists, but needs to be made available to players.

Gimme my blue and white hair without me having to play Moon Elf.
Gimme my green hair without me having to play Half Elf/Wood Elf.
Gimme my purple hair and pink hair for the fun of it.
Gimme rainbow/flourescent hair for the lulz.
Gimme cool hairstyles, because I really don't want all of my characters to use the medium messy style/short style.

Gimme my headband, because it looks awesome

They added Linu's hairstyle. I don't see why they wouldn't eventually add Catti-Bree's too, if there were enough demand for it.

They did, but unfortunately (if you play a drow) there is only one color that works for it - black. It isn't bad, but it can be immersion breaking (for me at least) when my obsidian-skinned drow is running about with raven-colored tresses instead of the standard ivory or a similar coloration. Hair dyes would be most welcome. :)

I have a drow (well, Menzo) with the Linu hair in ivory tones and it looks fine. I know the style can end up looking odd in some colors though.

Honestly, a lot of the two-tone hairstyles don't seem to apply your choice of colors in a way that makes sense to me.
