Hi guys, I was wondering what is the maximum life span of an MMORPG? How many more modules would Neverwinter have before calling it finished?

My guess is that they will continue releasing new content while the game remains sufficiently profitable.
That in turn depends on the number of players and how much real $$$ they spend.
So, if they continue to HAMSTER off the players or discourage them from spending money the game will die...but if the player numbers stop decreasing or players spend more we can look forward to a stream of future updates.
I would have to *monitor* the situation to tell you the answer but *in the near feature just not a priority at the moment* is a good estimate.
If devs stop using the ** words there can be much more fun in NWO but some more nerfs followed by we will monitor or some more inbalances not fixed asap and the future does not look bright here.
Please fix Zhentarim Warlock companion's skill "Arcane Warping" to the originally intended "Arcane Boost" zhentarim-warlock-companion
My first video game was Asherons Call back in 1999 and it is still going. Was same time period as Ultima Online and Ever Quest. Dont believe any game has a set time period as long as it can keep its player base healthy. They really have no limit. But when you lose your base the end can be rather fast. Time will tell .
There is no reason to expect this game to shut down anytime soon. With Champions still chugging along with only a fraction of the population. Cryptic and PWE are not really known for prematurely pulling the plug on aging games. Unlike other studios and publishers (I'm looking at you NCSoft)
Basically, as long as we get the regular mods the game is in a good shape.
If update frequency goes significantly down it is a sign of problems.
Currently I think it looks good for NW.. we got mod 9, then we got the ee upgrade outside a mod, then we are getting the guild alliances upgrade which seems to be outside a mod too. If mod 10 appears on schedule in july/august I would say the development effort in NW at the moment is quite nice.

One of the very first MMORPGs, Ultima Online, is still going strong, almost 19 years later. I played it from its birth until around 2004. Some MMOs didn't even made it out of testing before they died, others lasted a year or two, and then there's others that have been around for over a decade and anywhere in between. There is no "set lifespan" of an MMO. They live until they die.

Also worth noting that NW is PWEs most populated game so they'd need a more popular game to replace it before it gets anywhere near the chopping block.

Pure -> Transcendent Plague Fire weapon enchantment giving 80damge/20 seconds for 500k+ AD is a joke.
