That's fine if you have less than 150 players, but if you have 500-1000 players splitting the Guild is going to be problematic. My Guild is less than 150 players.
O sheesh.. if people are only logging in once every 2 months.. there is no social interaction per se, special cases can always be had, but come on guys.
A guild is meant for people who play, not logging in for OVER 2 weeks at one stretch? really, how is that playing the game. I would find that disheartening as a player seeing people who didnt play that often sitting on the rolls. Its not a active guild imo if you just have roll spots for players like that. Cull them.
Where do I even start with this? Grant it, it seems completely fruitless.
You aren't necessarily saying anything wrong, you just haven't run a guild like Tyrs Paladium before. So none of it relates. As another poster pointed out, our guildies aren't numbers.
We fill a rather sought after niche. We are a no drama, no zerg PvE guild that focuses on fun, adventure and running together. We have guild rules which we actually enforce. Noone is above the rules. In a nutshell, Tyrs Paladium is a fortress which represents FREEDOM from the typical MMO gamer. With well over 56,000 hits on our guild recruitment page, people that seek our style of game play and camaraderie seek us out often. We must be doing something right, wouldn't you think?
We have casuals all the way to hardcore veterans who know their stuff, that play together without any egos or pressure to deal with. We have one of the most active guild websites there is, created by and for guildies. Guildies sign up for scheduled content on their PCs or their iPhone or Android mobile device.
We are extremely active, and our guildies are real. Everyone knows everybody in Tyrs Paladium, it's one of our mottos for a reason. We could CARE LESS at being the biggest, we simply want to be the BEST for the type of guild experience we offer. And that means everybody is a somebody in Tyrs Paladium.
My guess is strongholds will have a new campaign system which grants boons for upgrading the stronghold.
But I could be wrong. We'll see.
Part of the reason to limit guild size is to so that most PvE/PvP players do not join one huge guild which makes it easier for the guild to afford the new boons. Smaller guild size requires more to be spent to upgrade the many small guilds vs only upgrading a few massive guilds . Again, I could be wrong about this. I don't actually know how strongholds will work.
My problem with strongholds is that what if I join a large guild, make donations, and then get kicked?
If I am making donations to the stronghold, I would like some assurances that I can't lose all my donations if the leader kicks me for whatever reason.

Please keep guild mumbo-jumbo to its own thread in the guild forum. Such posts are completely irrelevant to the topic and is nothing more than a guild advert that belongs in its own thread in the guild forum. Thanks.
One more thing I want to add, there are a LOT a great guilds out there, one size does NOT fit all.
It's been a pleasure to talk to so many guild leaders over the years hosting two podcasts filled with guild leaders roundtables, as well as OP'ing the Founders Guild Directory and now the Neverwinter Guild Directory.
Lots of good choices are available for anyone who'd like to join a guild for the right reasons. Do your homework in game, check out the Neverwinter Guild Directory in the guild recruitment section, and speak to the guild leader or recruitment officer once you've made your decision and would like to apply or have remaining questions you'd like answers to.

With all due respect Zebular, this problem cannot be addressed without the guild leaders coming forward, and explaining HOW their guild is being affected.
In fact in my opinion this should have been done well BEFORE it was "announced", by someone on the dev team, so that they could hear the pros and cons of imposing an artificial limit on guilds. The reality is the 150 limit WILL drive wedges into medium and large segments of the most loyal (notice I did not say largest) PLAYER DRIVEN communities in the game.
However without knowing HOW strongholds will work, we can not even have a completely informative conversation or debate even today. A SINGLE THREAD, started by a dev that laid out their plans and discussed the sudden need capping guilds THREE YEARS after their creation would have saved a lot of confusion and mixed feelings, and would have been so much more inclusive and productive for everyone.
This is just being... imposed. Gating the missions is one thing Zebular, gating the guilds just to service a PvP module just rings the wrong tone for us, and will add a ton of guild management work for many guild leaders, for a game that is SUPPOSED to be fun. It's going to be impossible for guild leaders that arent highly organized. And without the guild leaders support, this module is DOA. Those are the cold hard facts.
It wasn't a guild ban, it was an invite ban. Without prior notice we had no way of getting players characters where we wanted them. I know in Cloaks while we had been grandfathered in with over 150 accounts, we still couldn't invite our alts even though we were under 500 toons. So yes it would have made a huge difference if they had given us time to do so. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. The only thing that makes sense for this underhanded move is that they plan on charging us for guild expansions, which is great to sink ad. (A very good thing imho.)

All of this is irrelevant to what I said and all you were doing was adverting your guild in the post I was responding to. In any case, I am closing this mess now so a proper discussion can happen.
