Hey folks, got some cool news about something you guys have been asking about for a while. RadioScience made it his priority this month to get a Quality of Life improvement out this month, and we’re proud to pull back the curtain on it: a resource cap increase for Silver players.

Coming very soon, we’re going to be releasing a C-Store item that’ll let Silvers increase their resource cap. In addition, we’re increasing the default Silver cap for free as a bonus to everyone.

Excellent move. It should have happened a couple years ago, but it is still a wise decision.

Great news. I've got no need for it, but who cares, the game's getting attention.

    Thank you, that's great news.

Bacon Overlord@Mensar knows what the resource cap is, also the q cap.

next item: is there any way to get rid of the stupid, 20hr ban on using zone chat, PM's and invites for new accts.

The time when people need to ask questions the most, they can't.
    1. we don't have gold sellers.
    2. it doesn't affect custom channels.
    or this;
currently we have to keep a manual list of scammers to warn people when they are on, if the SG column om the ignore Table, was changed to a write-able column, we could list what they were on ignore for. So anyone asks, you check and say.

    ignore_zpsebfd5e30.png
also useful for those people who keep putting people on ignore but then can't remember why

Great news but I gotta say that Mechanon is such an odd choice of a header image for this. Bankers, the auction house, or even that generic Z-Store superhero guy would be a better visual. Of course, the update is in a good place if the only real complaint is a nitpick over the aesthetics of the announcement.

Agreed on both accounts. I seriously was annoyed how people would post items on the AH that we silvers would like to have but set them to 250.00.01 resources, preventing us to get them on our own.

Glad to hear about the increase for silver. That should help the economy.

I think an email might have been nice though for folks that hadn't seen the warning about the cap drop. I have several characters that would have been affected.

EDIT: Are you changing the SG bank cap that's also 217K or messing with the shared storage that's 100K?

Just curious so I know where to put what.

    Thanks.

Now I gotta log in and shift some money around between folks.

New lower max cap 200,000 G is good.

    Unlock for Silvers is good.

Also curious if Hideout bank and Super Group banks will be capped at 200,000 G?

There will be more Gs in the game economy, and likely less demand for keys.

Maybe. Or, since filthy Silvers can now participate on the AH, they'll want to buy vehicles, expensive lock box costume, etc. Because, you know, they actually can without worry of scams or hassling that gold / lts they know.

I've got only two things to say about this

1: the item better raise the cap account wide, or it's going to anger a LOT of people

2: Why did we have to wait so long to get something that STO has had for years?

Hmm... so, if a silver purchases the level cap increase to 200,000, is it permanent or will it have to be purchased again after a certain amount of time?

The reason why I am asking is that other MMO's allow silver players to purchase level caps, but the effect only lasts for a certain time (2 weeks, for example) and then it must be purchased again.

Great news, just hope the players won't double the prices for things, and make this loose the point. Seriously people, don't be greedy, this game needs more positivity.

Now, will be great if you can give more options for Freeform slot characters, that gold members can. Like being able recolor the powers. It's a very expensive product in comparison with what we get from it.
And believe me, I would go subcription if I had the means for it. For now, I have to be satisfied with 2 free form slots that I got. Btw, got both in the same month of the black friday discount, but missed! :frown::frown::frown::frown:

This resource cap always was the biggest annoyance for me in the game (and for a lot of other Siver players too, i guess) i'm really happy in hear this notice. Even having to buy an Z iten to unlock it, i'm sure that it will worth the cost

Info taken from the link that TT provided.
Step 2: C-Store item to increase the cap. For 500 ZEN, Silver players will be able to increase the cap to 200,000 G, pretty close to the technical maximum the engine can allow per character. This is an account-wide unlock. (If you’ve played STO, this works the same as an item they’ve had for a while, in that it can only be purchased by Silvers.)

Based on the article and all I would say it's permanent. And it is very much welcome to me. Since I am new it would have been a long time before I got to the cap but it did worry me based on the problems voiced here regarding the AH. This is not the first game I have played where players ended up using some item as currency because the currency had some problem, either.

Bravo to them for not only offering something people have suggested in the past but giving part of the increase away for free. One thing people need to remember is that in a game like this benefits to the free players also help people who aren't playing on a free account because it helps the overall economy. And remember, besides the fact that free players do help the game even if they don't spend money, the fact they aren't currently subscribing doesn't mean they aren't spending money on the game. This is a prime example of something that can help support the game and I predict a LOT of people are gonna spend Zen on this.

It would be nice if they started offering stuff purchased from Cstore as items rather than direct unlocks - so you can gift service items such as this GCap increase or costume or character slots, or costume packs to a friend by buying the item and giving it to them.

Doing this would not lose Cryptic money, in fact it could increase income as people purchase items to give or resell which they have not previously been able to.

I am still a bit skeptical about this change. If a Silver player upgrades to the resource cap, then there is little reason for that player to upgrade to a Gold account. I am not sure if this change will help the game economy; I think more players will simply spam the chat channels with private sales of rare items.

So, for 5 dollars (the real money cost of the resource upgrade), a sliver player can purchase more items from the AH without having to play some of the game content. Hmm... I wonder how that will affect current Gold members? Will more Gold members let their subscription lapse because of this increase? Many Gold member perks are also purchasable or at least limited for Silver members; only a small number are Gold member exclusves.

I think that gold members should get more exclusive perks due to this resource increase to ensure players feel that their gold membership is worth having. For example, gold members should be able to play ANY content without limits or diminishing returns, including comic book content.

Overall, the resource cap increase is a good thing and I have nothing against it; however, I think that it should be balanced out with more gold member exclusives.

Having spent several years as a gold, then a year as a silver and now as an LTS, I have to say that a purchasable cap unlock is a fantastic idea, it's not giving the silvers anything that they wouldn't have to pay for. The overall bonus cap increase I don't see being something to be worried about from a free standpoint, it'll be an adjustment for the economy for sure, but it'll even out eventually and players can choose to pay for the unlock as they wish.

There's a difference between 'stuff you get for free' and 'stuff you can have if you pay for it'. Sure, spend enough and you can be a 'Silver' player with most of the perks of being Gold, but for multiple characters it will cost more than an LTS (not sure of the exact breakpoint, but it's not very many characters).

As someone who's dabbled (albeit extensively and without any real training) into "spaghetti code", I'm hopeful that Radio (and others) are learning more things about the code.

Naturally BUGS are great to ferret out. New content is always welcome (areas to PLAY in, not just STUFF, imo). But, my biggest hope is they find a way to reintroduce ALL of the old costume unlocks + various costumes that ONLY were associated with slotting the item.

Sure, I still have lots of old Power Replace items w/ costume unlocks, but I'd really rather those become obsolete because I'd rather there be a way for players to acquire the unlock without my (and others) limited supply of such.

It's very unlikely that there are technical barriers to doing that; they just haven't done it.

There's still a significant amount of stuff that silvers don't get access to unlike gold.

It's not like they're getting a resource cap increase for free anyway. They'd still have to pay for it like some of the other stuff already ingame if they don't want to go gold.

Correct if I'm wrong, as I've never subscribed:
Don't gold members already earn a new FF slot every time a character reach lvl40? Don't they already have exclusive rewards for the total sub time they have? Don't they receive every month 500ZEN to spend in the store, have exclusive costume pieces, premium costume pieces unlocked, besides extra inventory bags, more char slots from the start?

How putting in the store items that silvers can buy can be discouraging for golds? Sorry, but that sounds kind of elitist.

Silvers who can't or don't want to sub whatever the reason, won't do it regardless of those rewards.

Yeah, that was kind of confusing to me, too. I can't see "resources cap" being the biggest factor in whether or not to go Gold. It's one of the more minor things you get with it.
