I get that it's an AT slot and not a freeform slot. I honestly would never expect Cryptic to hand out a free FF slot. Though if they did...
Anyway, is it ever going to actually be fixed? I claimed the thing on day one of the promotion and have yet to have it show up in my character select screen. I've posted about it in the bug section. I've contacted support and opened a ticket, they closed it.
Still no free slot.
No mention on the forums about this being an issue from an official source.
Cryptic, you want people to come back to the game and offered them a free character slot to do just that, so they could also try out the revamped tutorial. It worked, I came back. Sadly since I haven't actually gotten the free slot, I can't make a new character and can't run the new tutorial.
(Well, I could delete one of my current characters and start fresh but... yeah, that isn't happening.)
It's things like this that really keep me from enjoying the game these days. And considering where I started with this game when it was in Beta (I absolutely hated it), that I have any interest at all is a testament to how much I want to like the game.
I keep hearing that there are "big things" coming for CO in the not so distant future from some people who seem to have an "inside source". I've been holding out hope that they are right. I'm just not holding out as much hope as I used to.
Time will tell.

Whatever the issue is, I hope it gets fixed soon. I want to come back to the game but I'm not seeing a reason to aside from the free slot/new tutorial run through. Maybe it'd be enough to spark my interest to make me spend more time (and possibly money) in game.
YES, it is. There is absolutely no need to post the statement that I responded to other than to say, "Neener neener I got mine so you must be making it up". You are totally wrong Biff. We all know most people got their slot, duh. But there are also numerous people that did not. Just because someone did, does NOT make it a non-issue. There is no need to sow doubt here and the wording of that post ("Dunno"?) makes it absolutely clear that it was nothing more than an attempt to do so.
At least unlike the OP, CS has not closed my ticket, yet. But after 20+ days with nothing more than a form acknowledgement of a ticket being filed, I expect like the Holiday Heroes, the Double XP with broken Grabs and multiple other occasions this will be yet another instance of "Hey you F'd up, you trusted us".
Sheesh.

All he said was that it was working for him. You sure you're not just projecting and overreacting?
Have you considered that maybe he's not as knowledgeable in this issue as you are? You're assuming he's taking a tone, when all he did was post that he got his. It's valuable to get input from both players that have been able to get the free slot as much as the ones who haven't. If no one says "I got mine" then it could start sounding like it's affecting all players.
You're also assuming that "we all know" something. Did most players get theirs? I dunno, I didn't, and I haven't asked everyone.
I get that it's frustrating. It's frustrating for me, too. But there's no reason he's trying to go all "neener neener" on you. At least, it didn't come off that way to me.
I did much the same thing in a different thread. Of course, being aware of how G** D*** TOUCHY so many people are on the boards, I made sure to label it "for the purposes of negative confirmation". Just assume he wasn't aware such a thing was "necessary".

It's very similar to why an ex-gold member buying a new character slot might not see their new slots available after purchase, but when they resub they find they suddenly gained a number of new slots again.
If you were gold, and then went back to silver and converted more characters over to silver ATs than you actually owned of silver character slots, then you will find that newly purchased slots are automatically allocated to those excess characters first. So if you as a silver member had 3 character slots and but converted 5 characters over from a prior gold status subscription, then you have 2 character slots in use that don't actually exist on your account yet and the next 2 character slots you acquire from the c-store or a promotional will be used up by those 2 characters.
I say this, because I have personally experienced this exact thing already before. Subbed for a couple months, subscription lapsed, converted all characters over, decided to buy 2 character slots, didn't get any new slots... resubbed a week later and had 2 extra character slots.
I was assuming that it might have something to do with purchases I made as a silver but Biff up top was saying that he was never a silver member so that theory is out.

They all thought I was out of the game....But I'm holding all the lockboxes now..

Same - back when i was silver i bought maybe 6 character slots (on top of the two freebies) - I went straight to LTS from silver, and now have about 70 or so chars (55 level 40s) so I have plenty of free slots still but it is the principal - i dropped my cash on the game, I shouldnt be excluded from earning items which are available to free accounts because of some arbitrary (and frankly idiotic) internal database limit on purchased vs earned character slots

(I.E it took almost a year if I recall to get any kind of update regarding the region locks, around 6 months for Cryptic to acknowledge something was wrong with the silver to gold conversions, and around the same amount of time to get an answer regarding the billing issues plaguing the players who had been subscribed to the game via the 29.99 deal)
Cryptic doesn't care so why should I?
I was willing to give the game another shot but with what I've seen over the years, this game is essentially dead. A digital zombie, animated but not really alive. On life support I believe is how others have put it. It makes enough money to keep it up and running in maintenance mode, but any serious development is probably not ever going to happen.
I'll probably check back from time to time but I'm done spending my days, weeks and more likely months waiting for this to be fixed satisfactorily. If they don't want me to come back, who am I to fight it?
As for now, the game will stay on my hard drive, but if I come to a point where I'm needing space...
But seriously an update would be nice.
