help on the wiki icons.

the icons are a single object black and white with a color icon

still loving for new suggestions for

• gear
• content packs
• modifications

The icon for lore should be an open book showing colored in rectangles representing panels in a comic book.

Gear could be an image of a power armor chest piece, like an armored breastplate with a some kind of reactor in the middle.

Devices could a remote control with a single big mysterious button.

Vendors should use that globe icon that is above the vendor's heads ingame.

For Archetypes how about a silhouette of the head and shoulders of a cowled individual, think batman without the ears. White eyes, white mouth hole.

1.) Archetypes: Have a faceless hero doing a wide chest pose (like breaking chains) or have a heroic flight pose. I also thought maybe a character outline like Deadpool or someone who has guns, swords and maybe a flame hand for powers (something to identify all types, to a degree)

2.) Devices: Could use like a droid like pet or something of that nature.

3.) Event: A calender that has days marked out and a particular date circled

4.) Gear: A pair of boots and guns laying together (like you just undress and put all your stuff in a corner)

5.) Lore: A old book, or it could be opens a little

6.) Locations: A map or handheld gps (like a fish tracker), Or globe I guess

7.) Perks: trophy or ribbon

8.) Specializations: could have like a guy scaling a building/mountain with a rope or someone leaping like hurlding.

9.) Stats: hmmmmm not sure, maybe like weights?

10.) Vendors: Perhaps just a simple booth like in VB or a $ sign.

11.) Story Arc:....okay this might be stupid but how about a page that was black but at the top at the old fairy tale script of, "Once upon a time..." I know you didnt want to use text much. Or perhaps another book but have it be locked as top secret. This one and perks could be switchable.

that wouldn't match the theme icons will be one color plus black and white.but a comic book open may work

Maybe I'll do some quick doddles tonight show my idea. Hard to describe at times but everything I was thinking was in that vector like black/blue/ white color scheme.

I'll just throw little crappy sketches up and see what you think.

im really opposed to making a pda or tablet icon
the calender i might reconsider, but ill wait to see if someone else has another idea
locations is growing on me but still considering
i need to look at the icon vendors have in game for them

I'd steal some icon ideas from Fallout. They all tend to be simple, two color icons that look decent even small.

Gear: Scrounger, Long Haul, Pack Rat, Srtong Back
Basically, a box of bag of crap.

Specializations: Something along the lines of a person tinkering with stuff. Quantum chemist, Robotics Expert, Gun Nut.

Stats: Any of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. graphics. Intense Training. Something implying strength might be easiest to work with.

although i love fallout, and the style. I don't want to directly steal their icons

I did realise that the wiki does look like a 1950s toy box

it's not representive of how devices are in the game. its more representive of how devices are for us in real life. it doesnt match the theme. i liked one of your ideas. dont be offended.

which is why i suggested "make it more like a 50s box with buttons and an aerial." which is representative. a lot of devices you use follow this pattern

You don't have to steal the icons. I was meaning more of stealing the ideas. Looking at how they did theirs should give you ideas for your own work.

the larger issue is they dont fit thematicly. yes both have a reto feel.
but the wiki icons are following a single object, black and white with a color background theme.
the fallout use a person as part of their iconss. i looked and didnt see anything i could use. but thank you for your suggestion.

Here's a few ideas that popped into my head...

devices
I'd suggest a remote look ala the remote that is used to summon things like the action figures and other devices.

events
I like the calendar suggestion mentioned earlier.

gear
A simple armor piece (like a helmet or a helmet and chest combo) could work well.

stats
A calculator is what I keep picturing here, since it's all about the numbers with stats.

vendors
A coin would work well, something similar to what a global would look like in game.

story arcs (adventure packs or comic series) may rename category
First thing I pictured was a map with an "X marks the spot" visual, but I wonder if something like the digital globe projection that's in Champs HQ could be more fitting?

AFs: A blister pack? Mint condition!

Bugs: A fly buzzing around a generic hero's head, annoying him/her

Console: The bottom left corner of the chat window, with "/bind" in the entry field. Keybinding is a universal MMO concept, and you're binding keys to slash commands anyway.

Gear: A belt of pouches, in the grand Liefeld tradition.

Mods: Maybe a shield with two sockets, one with a gem already in it, and a hand holding a gem over the other socket.

Stats: A generic hero with drafting marks for height, width, etc.

Vendors: An old-style cash register.

Do a little hotdog stand for the icon would be a cool homage imo :biggrin:

Also something that popped out to me, PVP and Specializations are the only ones that have lighting coming in from the right side.

• yeah i know there is positioning from and lighting to decide on, it is a work in progress that i revisit

Why not use UNTIL building for adventure pack, since it where you mostly go.

Have a black building with a white Until and green/blue sky

Yeah the gear icon threw me for a loop for a couple seconds. Those two circles do read like really big eyes.

Everything looks cool though, good job.
