So, I just noticed something -really- underhanded as far as LTS benefits go.

Mind explaining why you're playing favorites, Cryptic?

What makes STO Lifers so much more special than CO Lifers that -they- get their Veteran Rewards up front, while -we- have to wait 1000 Days to get all of ours?

    Because otherwise, STO subs suck pretty badly. There's not a lot of things you get with a sub that you don't get playing free in there - mostly just a free respec every ten levels, like that even matters that much in STO, and a Zen stipend that lets you purchase C-Store ships and things.

    More like because otherwise, the STO folks will just complain like they did with the emotes we were -supposed- to get for free a while back, most of which were finally added but need to be purchased. :/

    Least, that's what it feels like.

    its not underhand - just inconsistent.. annoyingly so seeing as they already have the money. There is no realistic reason to force LTS to wait for their vet benefits. It should be quid pro quo - they have our money up front, we should receive full vet benefits up front.

    but if you get them straight away, you may not play.
    If you aren't playing, you may not spend money.

    Then what will all the poor orphan lockboxes do...
    think of them, the lost , the lonely, just waiting to be opened by some rich fool with no will power..I mean kind philanthropist

    STO subscription and free to play has very little difference save for small time veteran rewards.

    CO subscription perks provide tons of useful unlocks, gear, inventory space, mucho respecs and so on.

    I could buy extra hideout bankslots, or I could wait another 100 days. Makes sense for them to hold out on these things. I also have heaps of free costume bits. I can't complain.

    I'm willing to call Cryptic schmucks for a lot of reasons, but this isn't one, I think.

    The difference between subscriber and free STO accounts is... really tiny.

    CO, on the other hand... access to TPs, costumes, respecs, additional slots (up front and earned), freeform, coloring...


    Big picture, STO needs to sweeten the pot.

    Wait. Someone is actually making an assessment of value on the LTS,
    which means someone actually considered the purchase of an LTS?

    Sounds like a portent of an upswing for CO.

    having a LTS in both games I can tell you. There is more bang for the buck to a CO LTS than STO. The STO f2p play experience is 95% identical to the Gold sub's.

    Sometime last year someone suggested on these forums that CO Life Timers should get all the vet rewards form the get go, the result was pure distilled rage form non-lifers that got their vet rewards the old fashioned way who were angered that their rewards they had to wait for would be "devalued" if people got them all at once.

    just throwing that out there

    With CO's freeforms, ATs, and new character slots for hitting 40 the LTS has a lot going for it without getting all the vet rewards front loaded.

    STO you get what, respecs every few levels aside from the vet rewards? STO is a game I can quite happily play in F2P mode. The character slots are cheap compared to CO's and I don't think there is the new slot at max level deal like CO to give incentive to be subbed.

    The idea of an individual paying 300 dollars for a single game - specially a game in this... sad state - is almost alien to me. In my opinion, if someone is handing that kind of money for a single game they may aswell get a ****load of goodies. This is why i never went LTS - i noticed that its a lot of cash, and yet they get almost nothing unlocked. If they got all veteran rewards unlocked at once, it wouldnt be so bad.

    I agree, however since I've been gold for 2 years I'm not sure about getting an LTS now. I'm very optimistic about Champs, but not enough to determine that 300$ is right to shell out at this moment with the current state of the game.

    Yeah like the others said CO's LTS gives you lots more and STO's is rather sucky :<

    So they get the veteran stuff early to shut them up. Nothing more annoying than virgins moaning in Klingon :P

    I would like to point out that, if they did decide to give LTS players all the vet rewards up front, I would not complain at all.

    Also, gating a full costume set behind the 900 day vet reward? What the hell? Seriously, find something else to put there, and move the costume to the Zen store. Leave it unlocked for people who already have it.

    Note that you can still get 60 day time cards for the game for $12 (plus s&h).

    That's been around for years, shows no sign of going away, and undermines the value of LTS.

    You should only be paying ~$6-7 a month for gold.

    Yeah for the price of a couple of bags of kettle chips you can go gold. Hell I spend like $30 a week on chips or crisps as we call them alone. Gold membership is not expensive. I am using the dollar sign because for some reason the pound sign comes up as ? . I really do still hate this newer forum setup.

    I meant the fact that it is a vet reward and was not put as a costume set in the C store.
    However, I do believe that LTSers should get all the vet rewards immediately.

    I have Mentioned, Whined, Cryed, Ragequited, Cursed and Being Upset MANY MANY TIME for the AVIAN WARRIOR PACK which I was waiting since the posting of Concept art 2 Years ago (WHICH I may add, PROMISING that the costume will be available for the Z-store)

    SO lemme get out of mah calculator. I have been subsribed for 1300~ days. I have paid like 13 euros a month. Lets say that each month has 30 days. How much have I paid? Roughly over 550 euros just to play as gold member.

    I DESERVE MOAAR STUFFFFFFFFFSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I WANT STOCKS.

    There there... Shhhhh why would they call em veteran rewards? Maybe call em "I had this specific amount of cash so I should be rewarded day 1" reward

    Because veteran rewards are here only to encourage subscription. And LTS-er even can't cancel their gold status.

    Opposing this idea is simply jealous and petty. There is no logical reason to not give LTS accounts all rewards upfront. They will have it anyway, they can't to not reach it, unless CO will shut down.

    And everyone who now buys LTS to this game deserves something special. Because I'm not even sure if current CO shape justify subscribing, let alone buying LTS. :tongue:

    I would be happy to see Lifers get vet rewards up front, and I earned all mine the old fashioned way.

    Mainly because some of the higher vet rewards should never have been on the veteran reward program and some people who enjoy the game can't create the character they want to for an absurd amount of time. I'm looking at you, avian set.

    At one point I had a decent fiddler crab (I LOVE costume asymmetry).

    Roin'esh rifle on one hand, small three finger hand, chitin chest, insect head, some werewolf fur, all dark muted orange.

    Mmm. Now I'm hungry.

    I am one of the original LTS and I would have absolutely no problem if newer LTS people got all the Vet rewards right off the bat.

    I know it would get several of my friends to buy one. (it would help anyway)

    I bought my friend his LTS 3 months ago..... he now has an alt collection too
