Ok, Ill never make an overly sized woman but I do agree with this thread since it would help me make a non hourglass body at last! I REALLY want a true waste slider. It's true that the difference in slider capabilities is so extreme that it really is unbalanced and it needs to be fixed some. /signed
Just call Cryptic sexist and make a Facebook group villainising them because of it. It'll be changed next week when the PC brigade panics.
Truth of it is that the female sliders are knackered. Try making an ultra thin scarecrow type. Put everything right down, including waist. Look at the extremely weird shape thing it makes.

Also if you try to make a flat-chested girl it looks kinda weird.

There are no flat-chested girls in CO. Even if you turn all the chest related body sliders (including body mass, chest width, depth, etc.) all the way down, there's still at least a small amount of boobage. Plus, in the attempt to get a flat chest, you'll also end up with a torso that looks like it got stucked up by a giant with a huge straw.

Eeyup. Bluhman (I think it's him) has a character, "Mad Reid Jake" who uses the female body to imitate the whole "glam rock" style of early Bowie and whatnot... the breast slider is minimized - and the resultant distortion is laughable at best.

Doesn't help that it almost appears as though the underside shadows are baked into the textures of things as they seem to be shaded as though the breasts were fullsized when you try to reduce them.
Female characters simply don't have as much slider variety as male character's do. I've even heard people comment that all female faces look the same--which isn't entirely true, but it's not far from the truth either. So...
Most people just use the default faces. This is ever-more prevalent when men are playing female characters.
Unfort I think this goes to the way comics in general portray female heroines. I think except for Zephyr in the Harbinger comic every female hero has been supermodel stature to my knowledge. Actually hated the comic but loved the character just because she had "normal" female build:).
Well if you checked female bodybuilders in real life there isn't a lot that go beyond what you can get in this game and these are women on anabolic steroids.

Firstly, not all FBBs are steroid users; very few are, in fact, as it tends to do the same thing to them as it does to men - act as testosterone - and thus gives them a very unpleasant "mannish" face and voice and other unwanted side-effects. It's quite possible to get some admirable mass and definition through use of rigorous training and diet and the use of natural supplements that don't have the side-effects of such drugs.
As for mass, yes, they do indeed go beyond what's done in-game, though not much beyond in many cases. Then again, this is comics, where going beyond what's able to be done in real life is not only common but expected.
Go look back at my original post. Does nothing there seem at all unfair to you, that a male character can turn from a respectable build into this massive powerhouse just by shifting one slider, while a female using that same slider, can barely do more than go up a dress size or two, and can't even alter her waistline at all regardless of what sliders are used?
Max sliders are very generous in this game compared to just about everything else on the market. My complaint is the knees, they remain impossibly thin depth-wise and just wouldn't really support the characters we can make.
Maybe, but spending a week or two putting the new costumes on hold to work on balancing body sliders and doing other character-creator tuneups like evening out the number of parts between genders (the only parts that should be gender-specific are male facial-hair and the female Harajuku set, but this is not the case) arguably would be a much nicer use of their time than spitting out a new theme pack every month - what good's new parts if they can't be used to the fullest?
What if it was more like six weeks or eight weeks though? Something like this would be a pretty seriously big effort, I imagine. It'd be difficult to sell them on its advantages.
Though I do agree with the overall sentiment in this thread -- it'd be nice to be able to make female characters that don't look like they've been wearing a corset every day of their lives, and who were either big and imposing or normal human-shaped.
Best example of how odd the mass slider is between sexes? Use that growth serum on Monster Island at the end of the Crisis. Men? Turn into The Hulk - without fail. Make him as skinny as can be, but he still looks like the super-beef. Women? Giant-sized... normal people. Not looking odd, not looking overinflated or anything, just... large.

People have been asking for more balance between the genders for ages. I'm sure those wanting it are aware of the time needed and would accept it, if it meant getting what they've wanted for so long.
I meant knees as they are front to back, depth. It drives me towards using costume pieces that obscure the knees to cover up their feebleness. I hope not to be the only one who thinks they look off as the sliders go up.
The knee joint doesn't have much depth to it. Even a big 200+ lbs guy like me have sorta small knees when it comes to depth from the front to the back. Joints aren't meant to be bulky, they're there so you are able to move.

Not being snarky or rude, but you do realize that his knee is partially armored, right?
Only other way to increase chest size besides the slider is body mass after all.
I-i-i-increase ?????? O_o
What are you trying to create? Molly the milking cow?
I mean, ok, some of my girls have the slider at max to fit the genre, them being downright teasing; but wow even bigger? Poor girls, my back aches just thinking of it...

Yes that was mostly in jest. I understand that knees aren't supposed to be massive, I added in that post you quoted that elbows are bigger than knees when sliders are pushed. That's what I find odd unless it's common for elbows to be heftier than knees.
Basically arm and bicep sliders affect that joint more than the corresponding leg joint and it's sliders. I should have made that more clear. My meager understanding of arm and leg anatomy is not THAT bad but that's what I get for quickly responding via smartphone instead of thinking of my word choice.
Whew, that was by far the most awkward position I had to explain myself out of. Lol @ knees and no offense taken.

I agree with this thread, I don't see why all female builds should be stuck with a lowsy 13" waist, I'd like to see toons like Mighty Mom from Batman Animated Series and heroes like Fat Mama
yeah i want to make a musclebound female MCPD officer but it leaves me with a freakishly thin waist. damn i want to be huge!

I agree wholeheartedly with this. I used to play as female characters a lot, but with their stance and the body proportions... It bugs me. They seem... less real than the male characters.
Which is sad really, as I did have some good concepts for females once upon a time.
Perhaps there should be a 'fat' slider added, which adds onto the already existing sliders, affecting stats which make people fat?
I kid, I kid, and I know the issue isn't just fattyness... It's beefyness too. These are superheroines. They... Don't necessarily have to be She-Hulks or Jubilees. Hell, even if all we can get is a bit more expansion on the sliders, meaning we can have slightly curvier and less toothpicky ladies in tights, I think all of us would give you free hugs and beer for your efforts.
Minor derail about Conan aside, I am stunned at how much support this has gotten so quickly.
Frankly, if the idea is this popular, I wonder why nobody's said anything before now.
Then again, as obvious as it is, I wonder why Cryptic themselves hadn't done it to begin with.
It has been, it was even beaten to death, resurrected, and beaten to death again all through the Alpha and Beta, and early live times.
Nothing can or will be done, the sliders are placed where they are so as not to break costume parts, and that is the end of it, from the Devs.
Sorry, as ome extra size would be nice. I don't require Big Bertha from GLA, but you know.. more than we have.
Dev Stance on the issue is that Power Girl and She-Hulk [and the Wonder Woman as painted by Alex Ross] are as big as Heroines need to be, or are, in comics.
Just like the idea of an American MMO going free-to-play would never happen, right?
First rule of MMO's - they are NEVER static, and the fanbase can ALWAYS influence game development. To say something will "never" happen and ignore one's fandom is the deathknell for a game.

No shots fired. Just telling you what I know from my own experience with MMO's that were around much longer than CO was.
Almost invariably, when a gaming company says "no", it's never permanent, but more "not right now". There are very few cases where something requested was flatly told "no" and not later recanted and included anyway.
Taking WoW as an example - changing character appearances, races, factions, or names; switching from a PVP to a PVE server; having more than one faction on a PVP server; altering the appearance of gear; flying in Azeroth; Paladins and Shamans being faction-restricted... every one of these items that are now part of the game once were said would never happen by Blizzard.
And even Cryptic has said they're constantly pushing the boundaries of what their engine can do, and have said that stuff they cannot do now may be possible in the future.
I'm all cool for more customization, but before this is implemented, I want to see some more PLAYABLE content.
As a said before, implementing this would take a lot of tweaking for the female costumes which would take a considerable amount of time. So before they take the time to add more sliders and what not, they should add a COMPLETELY NEW zone and Adventure packs/Comic Series (I'm looking at you Aftershock and lvl 20 Vibora Chain).

Your suggestion would likely take just as much time - or probably a good deal more - than mine to implement, I would think. While I'm not suggesting mine would be a quick toss-it-out-in-a-weekend job by any means, making alterations to an engine already in place, I suspect, would be far less complicated and time-comsuming to perform than to create from scratch an entirely new zone with its own populus of monsters, allies, events, and rewards.
Yes, what I am suggesting would take more time, but think about it. Would you rather have more customization and nothing to do with your totally decked out character because you've already done everything. Or have a bunch of other stuff to do with your pre-existing characters that you barely played in the past cause they were perfect for what the game was when they hit that point. What I am trying to say is, what good is an awesome toon when you cant even do anything with it?
/signed I would love to see plus size women in this game, as one of my characters in game is plus sized, but the sliders just make her look average. I like to see more plus sized women heroes anyways, as it does get boring seeing the buxom heroines all over the place.
EDIT: Sorry Devs: THIS GAME NEEDS MORE COWBELLS!!!!
I'm gonna be a good sport. That cow is well done. I laughed.
Like someone else before me said (and this applies to any cosmetic changes, not just the one related to this topic), Cryptic Studios is handling STO, CO and developing no less than two, possibly 3 games. We're anxiously awaiting playable content, zones and bug fixes not just biannual Comics and C-Store items.
It's pretty obvious they have x money and x manpower to juggle between projects. Creating costumes already using existing character sliders seems simple enough - changing body sliders maybe more or maybe not, I'm not sure. But if it turns out they had to put significant resources and time for niche cosmetics at the expense of playable content I'm going to be ....
