I didn't get around to hunting any of the WildCards today but.... ( I posted this in discussions too)

I got into the game today. I followed the revised directions that were posted on the main site this morning (the new fileplanet download).

I did not get bumped from the server during the 45 minute I took to customize a character and I had zero lag issues or graphic errors. Smooth as silk all the day long. I went out of the game 3 times and came back in again and made more characters just to test. Still smooth as silk.

The only bug I noticed so far was Sapphire in the tutorial was bugged and twicthing around and you could not talk to her. I bugged it in game of course. I did have a slight problem getting into the powerhouse once. I had to move away from the portal and back again to get the "z" interaction notice. I may have just been standing too far or too close... I dunno yet. I haven't been able to duplicate that.

Only got to about 8ish on my characters but that was good for a few hours of hunting bugs and errors.

I was glad to see everything so smooth. I had been a little worried since the first day of OB was somewhat disasterous for the launcher/patch thingamabob!!! :(

I also noticed that the Qularr in the tutorial have gained some new powers.. Mighty Leap anyone??? that was a nice surprise for me hehe.

Here is to hoping everything gets smoothed out for release! I also hope to hunt you guys down in the next day or two.

Glad to see so many folks online last night!

This is open beta so I will be playing around with different builds some more. You can always find me @Mantiss in game. So far loving TK for PvE, wasn't so hot in PvP last night but I need a few more powers to get a better guage on things.

Also plan on trying out some serious Sorcery and/or Supernaturl both seem to be deep paths with a lot of options, great for people like me who enjoy handling a dozen situations at once!

This is also a shameless bump!

This is your chance, common dance, to do tha bump!
Hey, hey, do it baby! Do the bumpty bump, a do the bumpty bump!

This song is now stuck in my head. Go get your TK dude so I can beat on her some more. It might make me feel a little better. 'Cause I'm big like a pickle, I'm still gettin' paid. I get laid by the ladies, ya know I'm in charge, both how I'm livin' and my nose is large. I get stoopid, I shoot an arrow like Cupid...

ARGH! DAMN YOU! Now I have to go buy that off iTunes.

Also, while I definitely love me some Gadgeteering, I'm determined to try to find a way to make melee viable in PvP. I've experimented with some skills last night, and may try to integrate a ranged Endurance builder with some heavy-hitting melee attacks, and pick up something like Iron Lash, Mighty Leap or Thunderbolt Lunge to help close the gap as needed.

I love the gadgeteering and sorcery mixed together. Makes for a utility character and has been fun, but sadly lacks in the face-beating department. I have to decide what I want for a main character before Sep 1st

Do I go with the hardline face-beater character or a fun goof off utility guy? decisions... decisions.

@Dao_jones. I got on your friends list late last night. I hope to see some of ya in game tonight and group up :)

Haha! Awesome, if I can get that song stuck in at least 5 more heads today then I win at Wednesday! :p

I am also trying to build a melee centric toon that is PvP viable. Really liking TK and perhaps with a few control powers can be viable on keeping folks in place. I realize that my toon needs a passive defensive power along with something to screw with mobility.

There are a few options to hamper mobility, including the sorcerdy ranged endurance builder with a few upgrades. The Supernatural chain pull could be solid as well, even has a chance to root I think? Really enjoying TK for tanking, I'll continue playing with it, hopefully to 20 this week and get some PvP under my belt.

I am struggling with the same choice. EVERY MMO I play I start off with the exact same dilemma: I like being a Tank type character, but I want to roll something else.

Fast forward a few months, I'm playing a non-tank, and regretting it. I then re-roll a tank, and I'm behind everyone else.

However, in THIS game, you really can be a tank and "something else". So there's gonna be ways to clobber, and have some utility, too. (Gadgeteering has a nice mix of face beating and group utility, but you do need a big hitter to tide you over until you get Orbital Cannon.)

Yeah - just send me an in-game note to remind me to invite you to the SG next time I'm on. Or just send a tell to anyone you see with a WildCards tag - everyone in the guild has invite permissions.

We've got a solid group of folks running around with us in the beta, and it looks like a good crew. Hopefully we can get you on board today.

I'm assuming they either mean that or a character that is very versatile, and can perform well in many different capacities.

    - "I'm tired of guilds with play time requirements, DKP systems, or hordes of drama-laden idiots running around getting in the way of my good times."

If so, then the WildCards may be the place for you! We're a bunch of casual players interested in doing our own thing and having a good time while doing it. Group, or don't group. Focus on a main, or level a bunch of alts. PvP, or PvE; we're here to have fun and hang out in good company - not have end game content on farm within a month.

The WildCards are part of the Unrepentant gaming community; we're a bunch of overgrown kids in our 30's (with some 20-somethings and 40-somethings for seasoning) who came together because we think the company you keep is more important than the games you play. You can find Unrepentant players in games such as Age of Conan, WoW, Warhammer, LotRO, and Aion, and we're also active in Steam games such as L4D, TF2 and AA3.

If you're looking for a good group of folks to goof around with while kicking a generous amount of butt, then check out our website at www.unrepentantgaming.org. Browse around, ask questions, or just shoot me a PM here on these forums. Heck - come run with us in one of our other games (if you play 'em), or come kill us in TF2 or L4D. If you have a good time, we're happy to have you in Champions!

Our only requirements for membership are an easygoing attitude, and/or sense of humor. (If you don't have one, you'd better have a lot of the other.)

(*If you read, "Man! I wish I could play this game with only one hand", and your mind IMMEDIATELY went somewhere else with the second half of that sentence, you are *definitely* the kind of person that would fit in with us. Not because we're perverts, but because you've got just the kind of flexible wit we appreciate.

    Also, because we're perverts.)

This is funny as sh!t. Where can I put my John Handcock? Oh wait...I mean my signature. ;)

Thanks for the invite last night. I didn't get to run with any of you but I will catch up to ya. I was trying some new power choices out in the Powerhouse and in PvP. I got smoked in PvP a few times and got one kill .... once. hehe. Still had fun though and that is what counts. Most of the night I was fighting of a medication that was knocking me out at my desk. Had a horrible allergic reaction to some food-like item (don't know what it was yet) and was all doped up to take care of hives and throat swelling (Didn't want to suffocate to death or go into shock... a couple of things I try to avoid) :p

@CerberusCraven: What I mean by utility is a character that does alot of non-tanky, non-dps stuff. Like holds, roots, sleeps, knockdowns and ups and pulldowns, along with self heals and team heals. Getting all of that in a character is hard and darn near impossible to make and still have the damage capability to take down other players in PvP or the defensive capability to stay alive long. I'm trying to find a nice middle ground that is good utility and does average in a PvP setting.

    Hope to see y'all tonight.

Thx Nemissary. I would assume Gadgeteering, force, Supernatural, and sorcery would be a good combo for utility, maybe even ice for the holds and the good combo damage it can do.

    BUMP! :D

So far in game I've played my TK cahracter to great effect in PvE and PvP to the point where I almost wonder if she isn't too powerful in PvE. Although everyone in the game is still low level, so really until end game it's all subjective.

That being said I am raelly enjoying the Sorcery line now and may make a custom framework with Sorcery as my primary. There is a lot of synergy within the line and the stats should allow me to branch out in other directions as well.

So, in the last three MMOs I played, I said "I should probably roll a tank". I didn't roll a tank, and I ended up regretting my choice and rerolling.

So, in Champions Online I should roll some type of tank from the get-go. Anyone wanna lay odds on that actually happening?

Problem is, I'm stuck between a force/shadow/telepathy ranged build o' sexiness, or a shadow/supernatural short range fighter with heavy CC.

Bah. I've always said to myself "gee - I wish I could be a tank with some decent ranged attack options." I should just do that.

I've said the same thing Dao "Why can't I just make them come to me, hit them from a distance and Line of Sight pull them so my teammates can kick their ****, LOL. It can work, just lock at the Prot pally from WoW. You just gotta dick around with a good combination, I think i'll roll a Utility main at launch, Not really dps, not quite a healer, just someone that can bubble team mates, snare opponents, strip buffs and so on. I'll be hella versatile, hopefully the build i got brewing in my head adds survivability (Supernatural/sorcery)

Seriously. Who's in charge of keeping this thing bumped?! It's clearly not me - I delegate anything that actually involves having to be responsible to one of my many flunkies, toadies or lackeys.

FYI - we've already decided on our first "Ridiculous Guild Meme Characters" - we're going to create exact replicas of ourselves in CO, and give them whatever powers we think we would have or would want to have.

So yeah, when you see a slightly paunchy 30-something in jeans and a unbuttoned oxford shirt running around in Millennium City hucking fireballs at your head - that'd be me. :D

Incidentally, I believe beta now runs until Thursday.
