Slow learner? You'd think after 10 years he'd have learned he was half way home. Retirement bemmies sure did sound nice. I couldn't make the full 20. But who am I to judge? I only made it 5 yrs.

Yeah, that's a golden ticket worth having. I knew a guy when I was in Kuwait that was about two years away from hitting 20 years in the Army (he was a Captain). AND, he was also like 14 years with the police force in his home town. So basically, by age ~50 he was gonna be a 20 year military vet and a 20 year police vet.

That's some pretty sweet retirement cheddar.

Is anyone like me and hoping the Beta unlocks at 1201 am? Just curious.

Also, I know I'm going to be a badass hero, but I don't think anyone can measure up to this guy.

FYI - no one is as awesome as these folks: http://www.reallifesuperheroes.org/. Seriously. Every link is like a new failblog page.

Except Nyx. She can rescue me any day, baby. Plus, she's from New Jersey, so you know she's pretty much down for anything, and has no standards. That's my kinda gal!

Awesome. The private messages link currently isn't working. Very timely on them to screw that up now.

Alright, I'll try again tomorrow morning before beta starts. If you posted in this thread with an interest in running with us, I'll try to get in touch with you regarding our vent server info and such. Right now, I'm going to keep it simple for the beta - all members can recruit, so anyone wearing our tag can get people invited. (That's also how it'll work at release. Life is uncomplicated, eh?)

We'll get it all sorted out tomorrow. FYI - the character I'm going to be using for our guild leader is "Tell", so if you shoot "Tell@Dao_Jones" a note in-game when I'm on we'll get you squared away. Otherwise, I'll catch you here, in game, or through www.unrepentantgaming.org, if you've signed up there.

Looking forward to getting sexy with y'all. And I mean that in the most unsavory way imaginable.

We actually have a pretty good contingent of former and current military to commiserate with.

Yeah I am slow. I still walked away with a monthly payment from Unka Sammy though.

Everyone in my family has been Military. Most of them did 20+. I'm the one that walked out early with a fat check and life long payments and I'm halfway through to another retirement :p

I'm at work now... but as soon as I get home it is BETA time again. I don't know why I'm so excited, I already had my closed characters wiped and these new open characters will be wiped in a week. .... But, I'm still excited and will be again at realease I suppose.

At the rate this patch is going, I won't be able to finish before I have to leave for the office. So the 'Cards may have to wait until this afternoon to get formed.

I'll see if I can get someone else in the guild to form it up if they can get five of us together before I get home.

Since the messaging system here is STILL broken (epic failure this close to launch), the best way for you guys to get in touch with us is via the in-game search feature, or to register at our website (www.unrepentantgaming.org).

Sorry for the mess - I blame everyone but me.

Yeah, I was just telling a guildie that I joined this board two months before I joined the guild I've ended up leading in CO. :D

In fact, I joined this board while I was waiting to playtest closed beta for Age of Conan. What a massive disappointment THAT game turned out to be.

18.2% now. At least it'll finish patching before I get home... unless it stalls.

I still have 2 hours and 6 minutes before I get off from work... and that is if no emergencies happen. Then a 20 minute drive home. Then check my patching % as I strip down to get ready to play and collect my snacks.

    Then..... I'm there!

So the patch keeps disconnecting me from the download server so I keep having to redo it. I hope they fix this problem. I was at 25% then it froze.

So how was age of Conan? That game was hyped to no end

I got back from work to see that my patch crashed at 25%. Which was about 6% past where it was when I left. I restarted it. It froze around 7%. I retarded it again, and it downloaded 32% of the remaining patch in about a minute (around 800mb), but now it's trickling again. I think I'm just going to start and stop it repeatedly until it downloads everything.

Age of Conan was fun for the first twenty levels (the starter zone). After that, it went sharply downhill.

For people stuck patching 3.6 gigs at 0.1mb per hour, here's a way to cut that patch down to ~950mb, if you haven't already found this solution elsewhere:
It's important to say that cryptics instructions on the 'workaround' were wrong.
They said you should put all the .hogg files at /live/prepatch/piggs. That's WRONG. you actually gotta put them in the /live/piggs folder. It worked here. 'just' 952MB to go.

Hope that helps some of y'all.

Well the loader is down so thats a good thing. they prob fixing it, and the patch size is dieing down on its own, I still wish that we knew more about the powersets. and a toon at endgame should have 14 powers(including your endurance generator, but excluding the 2 movement powers you get at levels 5 and 35, It would be nice to get a heads up as to see all the powers. I think thats why the open beta is so important, seeing all the powers and figuring out what combo works well for you. damn patch

Is it the same as your forum name? Because CerberusCraven doesn't seem like it would be too bad. Unless the person trying to add you can't type....or spell....or read....or misunderstood what you said in vent...

Okay, so it COULD be bad, but most of the problems listed above would make entering names difficult no matter HOW long they were.

I picked up this sweet game today. It's called Launcher Wars

You get the main download from Fileplanet and then the "Launcher" comes up and apparently the goal is to keep track of the "percentage received" and if it stops you reload the launcher. Supposedly if you get it too 100% there's some pretty good endgame, but I don't think anyone has ever actually gotten that far yet.

Whatever the excuses and mitigations, this is pretty amateur work for a well established MMO studio. But since I have a real life and some very real homework to do I can't say I'm too disappointed. I was just hoping to get a feel for what toons I want to bring into launch and I think I'll still have plenty of time for that.

This sounds like the kind of group I would like to be in as a casual gamer too. I may not even be around for a while after the beta, but I will be back, and I am a casual gamer. I do have two of my character in SG's already, though I haven't really talked with those guys in months, and they probably wouldn't be as casual as I need to be anyway.

Anyways I'm level 9 now but getting bored of soloing, would rather group level if possible >.>
