FC.31.20150712.6 - Bug Fixes / Vehicle Week

Release Notes for FC.31.20150712.6:
This build is available on PTS now, 8/18/2015.
- Updated the text of the Level 30 Power-up Pack to explain that build slots will be unlocked as the character will level up.
- Added an upcoming giveaway item, the 3-hour Steam Bike, to the PTS Store. It lasts for 3 hours and cannot slot any vehicle mods.
- Updated Vehicle Week (formerly Vehicle Mods hour) to not drop any rank 1 or 2 vehicle mods. It now only drops rank 3, 4 & 5 and the drop rate for vehicle mods has also been reduced significantly.
- Per player suggestion, the Circus Malvanum race will be available during Vehicle Week. Players without a vehicle will be able to participate with the 3-hour Steam Bike giveaway.

Known issues
- Build Slots unlocked by level are not all unlocked by default in the level 30 level-up pack, but rather one at a time at each level as the player levels up until the caught up.

Please format any bugs you find in the following format:

Please stay on topic in this PTS thread. We use bug reports from this thread to decide whether a PTS build is ready to go live, and so we need to make sure we're seeing everything in it. Please do discuss the changes, but if you find yourself writing about something that isn't specific to what's on PTS, then that should probably go here: LIVE Bug Reports

These player & moderator maintained threads are checked weekly by developers:

Thanks for listening about the vehicle mod hour/week and adjusting it to something much more useful. It's really encouraging when the devs listen to player feedback.

Great changes to the vehicle week! Having the race again will be fun.

Having the race back is a big step towards making vehicles more than just a gimmick again, now I can only hope that the combat speed on them is changed to not be as painfully slow as it currently is.

Yeah some things are broken... no I don't use/abuse them.. where would be the fun in that?

I understand the reason for combat speed to bring them in line with player combat, however when they made that change they also changed how speed boost worked, rendering it imho absolutely useless. It should tick for half as much energy as it currently does and so last longer. It is supposed to be a boost, right now it feels like a fart in a hurricane.

Race returning and temporary vehicle sounds like a great idea. Giving people a taster will probably encourage some sales.

Would it be possible to see the Circus Malvanum race go up on the PTS before it hits live?

    Observations about the steam bike:
    1. It needs to have a sfx when you use boost. (or does it have one and I'm just not hearing it?)
    2. It has a nice design!
    3. The timer for the device seems a little funny. First, it only ticks down if you are using the bike. I'm not sure this is intentional - will people get to hold on to the bikes for the remaining time after the event is over? Also, when switching zones, the tool tip will read you still have 3/3 hrs left on the bike, although if you actually use the bike it will revert the time to the appropriate amount of time you have left.
    4. I would like to see how it preforms against vehicles modded for speed. If its only function is to act as a race bike, it may be useful to make it fast enough to maybe not out preform, but compete with faster vehicles. This way, even those players who have vehicles that are slow can have option of going with a steam bike instead.

Last point was just a thought, but I'm curious as to what other people might think.

Prototypes are going to absolutely cream everything else, nothing; even with r9 flight mods even comes close to those things.

Good thing that poor placing in the race does not effect rewards. You just have to finish it in time.

Adding the race availability to vehicle mod week is a nice integration. Can't wait to see other open mission content getting a come back, at least the rewards fixed.

Yay, Malvanum Ring Race! I loved doing that using just Swinging. It was something different than the whole "Go here, Smash this" thing. Very nice to see this return.

It appears as though the PTS is still on the Bonus Resource Event, so we can't quite test these changes to the Vehicle Event. Mind toggling that for testing purposes? It'd be good to know how everything works and if we can change or fix something prior to it being pushed to Live.

I can't help but imagine that a fix to this might cause a player to have an unintended amount of build slots. Tread lightly.

This is just a reskin of the Bison Model G, which I really love BTW, and the boost doesn't make any noise that I remember but you get an increase in the smoke out of the stacks.

As to it's speed, I'm not sure, it doesn't feel any faster then the original.

I'm honestly glad the race is going to be available. I wasn't around for it when it was here. Any chance we can get periodic Blood Moons again?

Huh. If the race is up at the same time as Sky Command or Lemurian Invasion, I wonder if you can take an Until Hoverdisk onto the track.

    Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!

R3 mods aren't much good, but R4 and R5 are ones people actually bother fusing. A low drop rate makes it not such a big deal, too.

Love bringing back to race. Content that isn't just spamming attacks is always welcome.

I still love the race being available, but it needs a few tweaks:
    • The mission given by Sapphire should no longer be part of this event. Because the mission is a daily mission, the Unidentified device you receive as a reward can only be turned in once. This means that for most players, there are no incentives for running the race more than 1 time a day.
    • This is further flawed because it allows players with a large amount of alt character to farm a sizable amount of Questionite by running the race with each of their characters.
    • Also, because Sapphire's mission has no level requirement, a player could potentially farm this race many times a day by making a new character, transferring their Questionite via the market, deleting that character, and repeat - all within the time that a new race would be held.
    • There is already a large amount of Questionite available on the market - the reward should instead be a vehicle mod and Globals (instead of the current Questionite and Vehicle mod reward). If the Motif with the Malvans is going to be kept in place, a tiny chance at dropping the malvan costume pieces would also be nice. Perhaps the Unidentified malvan device drop at the end of the race could be replaced with the drop chances from the Forum Malvanum alert? A chance at the Malvan Costume pieces would give players a reason to try and "farm" this event and look forward to it rolling around.

To summerize: The race needs to have an incentive to be ran multiple times a day, and that incentive should be Globals and Mods, and maybe those malvan costume pieces.

I agree, having the race return is great but it would be nice if completing it gives a reward more than once a day. Since it's part of the vehicle mod event, having it give a random r4 or r5 mod and some globals would be good.

I am not sure if creating new alts just to farm Saphire's missions is a good way to farm anything, but it does show the restriction is a bit pointless.

It's not enough q to really matter at all, it would be extremely slow, and tedious to continue doing that. I concur on the rewards though, what about adding rare chances for killing the mega d in sky command; and from that race to drop some of the nice vehicle weapons?

I haven't been able to run this race enough times to see if it still drops alien gladiator pieces, or so says the uber tread that list all unlockable pieces.

Well I can't speak for her, but from my experience, the crypts can interfere with some mission chains. That, and the thematic nature of the event, would lead me to prefer keeping it as a seasonal event.

I do love that the racrles are back. Thus was an event I didn't have the vehicles to enjoy back in the day, and I'm looking forward to tryingy my luck now. I also love the new bike color scheme too, could a permanent version be added to the D-Store? It's fit my steampunk Goblin rather nicely.

I don't mind events, when they are thematic. I do mind the same event, over and over and over and over with no direct change (and the monthly Blood Moon was that) that all it does is just add additional lag to the game, doesn't change at all from month to month, and doesn't provide anything new to do. The dark aura that everyone will be chasing down only spawns from Takofanes, who only spawns on the Halloween version, which is different from the old monthly event.

And having these events more than once every so often ruins them for people. People were sick of the Blood Moon happening every month. So much so people were just not logging in during the full moon because they were just tired of seeing the Blood Moon.

Make additional events that happen over the year, do not repeat the same event over and over multiple times a year and pretend to call it content. it ruins it for people, and more than likely you are just going to have people wanting to skip it completely. Especially when it affects such a large portion of the game.

The last thing needed now is to cause burnout in an already small player base. People want events, they don't want to do the same event every month.

Well, if they don't want to play blood-moon, then nothing they can do about it, simple, not there game is it?, no point coming on here "plz dun do it", if a event comes it comes.

New events, are more then welcome, then old ones repaying, yes, same goes for the Fox-bat one, tho I won't hold my breath for a new event, that brings 100% new content, any time soon. (Or they chuold and I'll look like a idiot).

And hay, if they do give us new events and QOL, stuff, like 100% new content, your free to slap me across the face.

For this giveaway bit, how will players receive this temporary vehicle?

I was thinking to make the Vehicle be a Unique Item and give the Vehicle Tune-Up guy a temporary shop with it in there. And then have Sapphire have a mission that can point the player out to the garage. Update Sapphire's text to say something like: "While these rings are around the city, the folks over at the Vehicle Building are offering a free trial vehicle to fly around with in case you don't feel like doing the flying yourself."

I would like to see Blood Moon occur every real life full moon again. It's a fun event.

Is there any chance of having the VIP Lounge teleport card's ridiculously long cooldown removed to bring it in line with the other teleport devices? There's no reason for it to have a cooldown anymore when anyone can teleport to Ren Cen repeatedly without a cooldown.

That's uhh... actually pretty interesting. I'd love to try it out. Give these "villains" a passive that starts to scale their abilities based on how many Heroes are within 150 feet of them. The more heroes there are near them, the more powerful they become.

Though this is probably all off-topic anyway, I say go for it!

Yeah let's keep it on-topic here, unless a dev requests feedback for that in this thread. In the meantime, there's a thread discussing it on General Discussion.
