I'll take your advice into use concerning switching to ET. As for the STFs, given your opinion, am I solid for Advanced as well? The only thing I can do from here gearwise is grind reputation and marks (which usually means STFs), unless there are other good things on the market which I could buy.

Update! I now have over 100k fleet credits and a whole bunch of dilithium. This means that I can at least purchase some fleet gear to outfit my Scimitar. Suggestions, please, keeping in mind my goal to be a cannon (and maybe one torpedo) shooter? :)

I understand that beams may be more effective, but I'm not necessarily looking to min-max. For me, the Scimitar is a cannon ship. Just has to be. Thank you for the advice so far! Anyone else with builds? I'm willing to go to single cannons, too, if I must. :P That nice torpedo could be thrown into the mix if you think it'd be superior to five cannons to fore, as well.

It might be more helpful if I ask this way ... Are there any larger ships out there (other than the Scimitar and the Breen winter ship) which put out DPS which isn't second rate? Preferably one which would allow you to mix it up so you don't have just a beam in every slot. Lockbox ships are 100% acceptable as suggestions.…

There seems to be a lot of disagreement here concerning my original question. Maybe I'll try to thin it down to those ships I mentioned I like for appearance: 1. Tal Shiar Adapted Cruiser 2. Tactical Odyssey Where do these stand for you as a Tac flying a cruiser?

I am currently enjoying my Benthan Assault Cruiser. I also really enjoy my T5U Xindi-Aquatic Narcine Carrier. My favorite among the 'default' T6 ships is the Guardian, mostly for its appearance. I didn't like the feel of it so much.

Finally took the Benthan cruiser out to fly tonight using more or less the build suggested, and it did very well. Nice little ship (it is rather tiny for a cruiser). Turns quickly, sturdy, good damage with my Tac captain. I am quite pleased with it and had fun. :)

Sounds about right to me! As a Tac captain who normally plays cruisers, I'm used to my ships leaning engineering. If it's a tac-oriented cruiser and has some good tactical stations, I consider that a nice bonus.

Let me know how you do with it! I'd be interested to hear. :) I'm a lifer, but unfortunately took a looong time away due to my physical disability, so I'm broke and well behind on gear. I expect any new ships won't perform as well for me simply because I can't give them ideal gear.

Going by your scale, he's charging around the lower end of that value. Friends are friends, after all. :) I'm a Tactical captain, and it seems to be a Tac-oriented cruiser. This is a good thing, because I do enjoy flying big ships! Sounds like you're enjoying success with it, so I may well give it a go.

I do not use dual cannons on the Narcine. Instead, I have it loaded fully with tetryon beams. The ship has a very good turn rate for its size (I was really feeling that drag with the Guardian on turns), so it's easy to make use of all beams. At least some folks seem to think that taking a Tier 6 through the leveling process is important, because it opens up the door to that fifth ship bonus.
