  • The quantum phase + TS3 is some of the most ridiculous fun I've had in a game in a long time. It's hilariously destructive, but more importantly it's just so darn pretty. One thing that is throwing me off is that it seems to heal allied shields that are caught in the radius... am I hallucinating? I'm almost positive I've…
  • The only pets I would bother getting the Elite variant are the Scorpions, because a half-dozen HY plasma torpedoes is still hilarious. Beyond that, the Elite's are.... well, a waste IMO. For a Federation Escort Carrier (my go-to T6 at the moment, the Alita is good fun), I highly recommend the Advanced Danube Runabouts,…
  • The terribly sad thing, though, is this is actually one of the more civil MMO forums I frequent...
  • Episode Skip can be done by clicking the button on the bottom left of the minimap (it looks like a combadge). Go into the Episodes tab, and you can skip to your heart's content (or until you hit the level requirements).
  • Add me to the list as well. Since I restarted (been gone over a year), I can confirm that it affects Hide and Seek, Stop the Signal (You can't stop the signal Mal), and Researcher Rescue; I ran all three of those this morning and ran into that bug on each of them after the in-system warp. No ship, no weapon effects, no…
  • Not entirely a ruse, they did follow-up by giving away 3 ships, all of which could be upgraded. If you missed out on those that is unfortunate. And there are numerous ways of getting 5-U capable ships without spending a dime; the exchange, dilithium grinding for Zen, or special event prizes such as the Risian ships.
  • Is okay, I figured it was something along those lines. Still, I simply cannot resist spewing random sarcasm in all aspects of my life.... drives the wife absolutely crazy.
  • I figured it out! You tried to claim the Ar'Kif Retrofit several hours after the giveaway ended. Had you claimed the Ar'Kif at the same time you claimed the other ship you would have gotten both. Tough luck.
  • The Excelsior Retrofit has a hangar? When did that happen? As for the Marauder: The Marauding Force and Advanced Marauding Force (Dilithium) aren't terrible, but in my experience Advanced Orion Slavers are the way to go. Disruptor beam and quantum mine spam from 6 shuttles actually deals quite a bit of hurt, and they steal…
  • http://sto.gamepedia.com/Playable_starship Go there. Any ship that is Tier 5 - Level 40 and has a checkmark next to it can be upgraded to 5U. As far as I know, all of the Level 50 C-Store Tier 5s can be upgraded to 5U.
  • Free Excelsior? Not personally interested (Steamrunner and Alita FTW) but pretty cool. Free Marauder? Got one already, but still nice. Free Ar'Kif? Now we're talking! Hello console set for my Jhu'Ael. And since I'm not buying the Ar'Kif now, maybe I'll spring for the Arkala and get the quads go finish up the set, or…
  • While obviously not a serious question... Orcs far predate Klilngons, as the Orcs as we know them were brought about in The Hobbit (1937). Since ToS didn't air until 1966, I think the answer is clear. OT: All parties involved in STO have done terrible things, but this is what we've got. While I typically wouldn't condone…
  • This right here. My last box-opening spree netted me 16 rich dil claims from 10 boxes, just before the dilithium weekend, which equated to 56,000 dilithium just from mining over the 4 days (10,000 from the rich claim, 4,000 from regular mining). Saving 4 for the next dilithium weekend, burning through the rest to convert…
  • A +20% acc buff for the phaser lance. The Boff layout, in my opinion, is fine with me. There are enough Tactical-focused cruisers Fed-side, so an Engineering heavy one doesn't bother me. Reasonably intelligent AI for the saucer section, they seem to act pretty stupidly at the moment. But, none of this matters, because it…
  • Ahem, the Avenger is over there ->, since that seems to be what you're asking for. This one I'll get a bit more intellectual with, since the actual definition of a 'dreadnought' does not apply to Star Trek vessels, so first things first, the term needs to be redefined in regards to Star Trek vessels. So, in-game terms,…
  • Well, I'm currently running a Klingon-aligned Joined Trill Engineer, who can only fly BoPs until I hit level 40 and can receive a Marauder as a 'gift' from the leaders of the Orion Syndicate (Klingon High Command doesn't exactly trust me due to my...colored past). Additionally, none of my bridge crew can be promoted beyond…
  • If you're looking at a freebie, the Ha'nom and Ha'apax are good choices, both are quite durable and can lay down some considerable hurt if you use them properly. If you're willing to drop some coin, the D'd retro is a contender to do what you're asking of it, however I would highly recommend checking out the Tyton Class…
  • Quoted for truth. Level 5 is the number you're gunning for, you'll be inundated with accolade spam and chat-announcements about all of the new, shiny things you've unlocked. Take note, however, that if you are playing a Romulan you cannot get your Android until you join with either the KDF or Federation, and you cannot…
  • Photonic Shockwave will knock out the triple HY, as well as disabling the tractor beam. Also, it's a bit more involved but a lot of fun, is to hit polarize hull, eject warp plasma, and evasive maneuvers. Fly over or under the DD and trap it in a huge plasma field. When it tries to fire it's HY torps, they immediately…
  • Yep, the VFX people decided that they wanted to fire a phaser from that area and to heck with the ship design. Then again, 'Conundrum' showed that the writers were ignorant as well, since I recall something in that episode stating the Enterprise had 10 total phaser arrays... but there are 12 arrays visible on the ship. TNG…
  • To be fair, that's an Excelsior, which didn't mount phaser-arrays, only banks and emitters. That one I will definitely give you. The Enterprise firing phasers out of its torpedo launcher...who the frack screwed that one up?
  • The Bortas isn't Klingon because it isn't fast and maneuverable? Klingon battle doctrine started leaning towards having larger, slower, more heavily armed ships a long while ago, when they introduced the Negh'Var-class battlecruiser (which is larger than a Sovereign). As for Warbirds, the simple answer is that Romulans…
  • Given what banks have done in recent years, would YOU trust them with that much currency?
  • I might as well jump the count to 4. And I'm at work, so now everyone is staring at me like I've grown a second head..
  • Given how Romulan politics typically plays out, that actually sounds entertaining as hell.
  • You speak of negotiating with the Tal Shiar, and with the same breath have the audacity to speak of smiting the enemies of the Romulan people? The Tal Shiar ARE the enemies of the Romulan people, they always have been and they always will be. They cling to the old ways, to the ways of an Empire that has fallen, selling…
  • If it's the same as the Quantum you get from the Steam Starter (Mk II Acc+DMG), that thing can last a new player a good while, at least 'til level 20 or so. Okay, that may not exactly be a long while, but it is nice to have at least one piece of kit that doesn't have to be swapped out right away.
  • Personal opinion, I think the Daeinos lends itself better to an Engineer than the Aves, but I agree it's a horribly tough decision. I give the edge to the Daeinos based on the additional Engi consoles and heavier Engi Boff abilities (1 Subcommander + Centuirion vs. 1 Centurion), so Eject Warp Plasma and Aceton Beam are…
  • I'm assuming you've talked to Lieutenant Commander Kyle DeSoto. If you haven't gotten the shuttle voucher, hit him up at the Admiral's office again and exhaust all of the dialogue options. You should get the Shuttle Requisition form (and the accolade Size Doesn't Matter) from DeSoto. Then go to the Shipyard and talk to the…
  • Given the two points made in the above 2 posts (STFC losing money and a claiming to have received a 'handwritten' letter from 'Mt' Redstone (Which country is that in, anyway?), (combined with the amazing grasp of the English language being demonstrated),I agree he doesn't live in our reality. Mr. Redstone is worth…
