Even if people find fun in griefing others like that, we just don’t know how the system behaves in this regard. The system on it’s own does not provide incentive to grief. It’s entirely possible that low-end gear will generate a gear score so low, that no average player would ever be matched with them, regardless how bad…
If players knew their score, and that of their friends, they could set up matches and pre-determine the winner(s) to artificially boost their PPS rating (move up in any sort of publicly visible ranking). Overall accuracy of the rating would be blurred; PPS would be unreliable. PPS is not a ranking system with which players…
Exceptional. PPS appears to be based on Glicko, which I have always found to be very accurate. I have successfully worked with Glicko organizing rankings for our board game club. Chess players use a similar system, and e.g. Guild Wars 2 WvW servers are ranked with it. As a character’s ranking is not supposed to be public,…
Wow, is this real? So, will there be an ELO/Glicko based matchmaking thing, or is it based on equipment ratings or individual performance metrics? Can we see other player’s ratings? Really interested to learn all the details about this.
It feels odd that the original STFs have not gotten some more attention in this regard. They probably use an older design scheme and are tough to modify. While we wait for that, why not play one of the other Elite queues? Plenty of parsing opportunities elsewhere :)
I found that my original brightness/gamma setting is restored after I use the minimize button on the top right corner of the screen, and then returning to the game by clicking on the windows task bar, not using alt-tab at all. Minimizing still causes a brightness change for other applications, though.
Until any version of this queue, improved in whatever way, becomes available, Mine Trap should stay in game, because it was bug-free, non-exploity, strategically and tactically interesting, and plain fun. Just because it "never" pops unless some players show initiative is no reason at all to remove it from this game. Plus:…
Well, whenever we wanted to play Mine Trap, we spammed some social zones, and recruited from proper channels. Within only a few minutes, the queue popped. Yes, it was THAT simple. Of course, not as simple as waiting silently for a queue to pop; I can see how many players are overwhelmed and complain about it before…
I am sorry, but people claim that "nobody played those queues". Really, I am not nobody, nor are the 19 other guys. I just don’t get it, it was not broken, they even fixed some bugs in Mine Trap earlier, it was not exploity, there was a community forming around Mine Trap at least. Truly bad decision.
I returned to the game with an upgraded system, all ambitious about the new Risa event … now this. I wish I could test the D9 renderer, because it is about the only thing I haven't tried yet, but right now my launcher won't connect. Remember ►Jack? Going mad soon, already smiling.
I received the accolade "Threadbare Trading Post" right after successfully using the turbolift in pause mode during a follow-up attempt. I did not receive this accolade on several failed earlier attempts. So, if you get the accolade after using the turbolift, you are likely on the right track :)
Response has been a bit low, so I am throwing in another Large GPL Package for a total prize of 15,000 GPL, courtesy of the Racing chat channel. Have fun in Hodos!
It's probably a number of players trying not to miss the time gate for the CC event. A typical fail with time gated content. There goes your torpedo. Congratulations, you have been left behind by game design.
There we go again. This time, right after switching to my Scientist captain on ESD, my standard Human Scientist Boff was reset to default abilities, and all Boff stations on my Samsar cleared. Applying a saved loadout did not reassign Boffs. Manually assigned Boffs' abilities were not applied correctly in some cases,…
Aye, the Latinum package was available during the first Winter Wonderland iirc. It is not bound and can be unpacked for 7,500 GPL (or sold for several million EC on the Exchange).
Last time my loadout got messed up, I was logging in to a character that logged out of Defera Invasion Zone. I finished playing on Defera, and then logged off. I logged back in on that char a short time later for a few seconds (came out on ground) just to check reputation and doffs. The next day I logged that character in…
I assume it goes like this: The bug is well known to the devs. It does not have a high priority, though. Other bugs in the Exchange (sorting, missing display of important information on Doffs, Boffs, filter functionality, etc.) and the items themselves (wrong categories, levels, and such) make the devs assume that it…
It's not just powers that don't work if you click them. The entire UI is so slow that only every other click is recognized at all, or so it seems. I am currently double-clicking everything, or holding down the corresponding key for 1 second or more (and even then...), or just wait for buttons to appear!
This happened to me in CCA: Minute long SNR, excessive rubberbanding, extreme lag. I activate my engine after zoning in, but I do not move, the dialog does not close when I press X or "Done", other players move their ships away in a slideshow. After two minutes I start to move, all the things I did after zoning in happen…
Looking forward to create yet another alt and experience it all over again with what appears to be a nice story twist :D If this really helps all the rest of my numerous alts to close that gap, then I am all for it. Just curious how it works out. Also sounds like a fun fleet activity.
Since this game is F2P and aimed at the casual trekkie, Cryptic should be swimming in money and publish all kinds of new experimental stuff, including PvP things. But since nothing like that happens and we typically only see "business as usual", I feel they are actually not doing what they really want to do, or are…
I have to agree with this. I believe the Reputation system, the Doff system and the RnD system could all be put together in one single UI, as they are essentially the same: 1) Pick a project, 2) fill it up, 3) wait, 4) claim results. Either system is severly lacking in depth and immersion, and all come without their own…
