• I think the periscope on the BOP is just a condensed version of the torpedo targeting chairs featured on the k't'inga battle cruisers we saw in TMP. It also had both a viewscreen and torpedo targeting scopes, two of them.

• I do, but mostly just due to a preference for canon/iconic ships. Frankly it kind of sucks compared to other options, as there are ships that are bigger, with more mass, which possess greater firepower and better turning ability. Nothing beats it in the looks department though.
