They do apparently have rights to voice recordings from the shows. A "Trials and Tribble-ations" episode would be awesome in my book even if it's canned dialogue.
Actually, while we're on the subject, a yearbook or a Starfleet/KDF/Rom resource website patterned after government websites would be cool, especially if we're headed for an election plot. Or 24th century Buzzfeed meets HuffPo. The "reporter" headset is more or less in the game. It'd be fun if it had different styles.…
He's wearing the shirt/vest Kirk wore from Generations in one Borg mission, recolored. I'm hoping that's part of an anniversary pack. This year will probably see a major expansion later in the year plus the 50th as an event. Granted, they might be planning some kind of 2410 Nexus mission with that shirt as a reward too.
I've often said that this game would work considerably better if we had less interaction with our own faction's militaries and more with civilians. There was always something weird and different about episodes or scenes where an admiral or administrator chimed in. But this game begins and ends every mission with it.
I didn't say it was a 100% effective simulator. In any case, i arcade and ludological elements of gameplay on the ground are what they are. You lead an away team. You punch, hack, slash, and fire. You do TJ Hooker dirt rolls. It might be better simplified but I don't think it needs enhanced fundamentally or that it's…
If they allowed this, I think it would have to be in a way that Cryptic would make a cut. That said? I could see the drydock system as being a first step towards repackaging ships. Because we now have a place that ships go that guarantees they have nothing equipped. I think for that to continue, it would probably have to…
What I can see being fairly plausible is a permanent 20% discount (doesn't stack with sale pricing). If you own a variant or related ship, why wait for a sale, basically? I'm not sure this would go over well but you know Amazon targets pricing to the individual user as I understand it. Airlines try to as well, I believe.…
I would look at an overhaul to bridge officers. This would involve several things, including a rank overhaul. 1. First, I would eliminate BO skills and convert expertise into a choice of unrefined dilithium and fleet voucher dilithium. Bridge officers would use kit modules, directly slotted onto the BO. 2. Bridge officers…
The argument (and I saw a good discussion about this once) is that there is, absolutely, no rule against command officers going into the field. General regulation 15 doesn't EXIST. I actually brought this up once and the counter was made that if you watch Saavik's reaction and Kirk's reaction to Spock, the likeliest…
Well, we're not necessarily from Walker's past and the future we visited where the Temporal Accords got signed is not necessarily our future. Kal Dano and Walker and Daniels and Braxton may be from four (or more) different and competing futures. Note Walker refers to "your timeline" when he talks to us. His uniform colors…
This game isn't a simulation of life in Starfleet. It's a simulator for watching an episode of Star Trek. It would also dramatically influence balance/tuning/story progression issues to allow someone to skip either ground or space since the amount of time you play and what you experience while playing is also part of a…
All Hands on Deck is a great combo with these as well. You use Sci powers to speed up Tactical Initiative which speeds up everything else. Use a Krenim energy damage boosting secondary deflector and you can apply most cruiser or escort builds. A Tac in a Sci ship is not only arguably better than a Sci captain in a Sci ship…
I considered that before I posted but decided we're talking about a 200,000 year old alien who hates the other one who is a half-human whose mother comes from an alternate timeline. Whereas two women raise kids even now and the science is almost there to produce a human offspring with two genetic moms. So that's not really…
Just because something appeared in an episode or movie doesn't mean CBS or Cryptic have rights to it. For example: The Millennium Falcon, The Rock's likeness, the song "Beautiful Dreamer".
The shorts color is also locked to a weird mix of red and yellow, which makes it hart to replicate the black shorts in the pictures or match the shorts to other uniforms.
In theory there are infinite scenarios including the outcome you want. But unless you know how to get to that outcome, well...| Imagine your friend has chronic back pain from a spinal injury. It can theoretically be solved by surgery. Now imagine you have no medical training and no doctor is available. Do you slice your…
Er. No typo'd. 3 nacelled Excalibur (which defuses some of the Connie comparisons) as a mini-Galaxy-X with pilot specialization and ability to saucer separate, which further visually separates it from the Connie (the Connie supposedly could separate but we never saw it and this makes it all around more like a…
As I have said before: Slap a third nacelle on the Excelsior modeled on the Galaxy X to further distinguish it from the Connie. It's still a fine design. Call it a Light Dreadnought. Emphasize saucer sep and make it like the little cousin of the G-X that is cannon friendly. Pilot specialization, too!
I think what I'd like is if we could swap BO stations within a family of ships. Even if it was limited to an all or nothing swap. I don't necessarily mean Escort/Cruiser/Science, etc. I mean treat Nebula/Galaxy/New Orleans/Dreadnought as a family. Mobius/Wells/Paradox as a family, etc. That gives Cryptic plenty of room to…
I keep saying, I want Temporal Investigations to turn up and then we find out Janeway is now in charge of it and is developing a timeship program present day. It would be a very organic development of her character arc and at the same time would explain how reckless or at least less cautious we are now with time travel. In…
The Temporal Dread is more of a Wells T6. I think the Prime counterpart will be a Mobius T6. I can't imagine they'd pass up the chance to move another ship that basically just requires taking the Paradox and adjusting a few meshes from "bat" into "jet" and shuffling Tac and Sci stations.
I lose track of this stuff as a lifer. I doubt they'll listen to me on pricing strategy anyway unless I had access to their numbers and then they'd want to know how I got access to their numbers. What I can do is say, "If X is within the range between Y and Z then promotional offer N will work." For example: Rereleasing…
Well, yeah. I was really just throwing all of that out there because I thought it would be fun to try another one of these "direct" solutions people suggest and have it backfire us into another timeline. But I intuitively think sending Sela along with us to her mother's timeline would be good for her arc because it would…
Supposedly, rainbow builds that use Spire generic beam consoles only do about 1-2% less DPS than unified beam builds. Not sure if this is true for other Tac consoles but our damage from other sources is now so significant that beam mixing isn't the taboo it used to be. I'm intrigued by trying all of the Temporal beam…
