I haven't found a cave near DS9 so I assume Questerius is talking about swarmers. I haven't actually had too much trouble with them, using 2 beam FAW and evasive maneuver speed boost. It's the DS9 sensor clusters that are giving me fits.
After reading this thread I may have to reconsider and reevaluate my own mental health. I plan on building my Delta recruit up as a Bajoran, and once built, he will be my main, at Delta quadrant and DS9 related missions especially. He will have all the usual traits and the Delta recruit skills too. Why wouldn't someone…
I play an eng/healer in a cruiser in pugs/stf. I like CC. I have my cruiser doff'd with 3 purple techs, and an eng cooldown and a sci cooldown doff. I have eng 3, sci2, auxSti 3 and haz1. I try to fly into the middle of formations but failing that I try to follow scimitars around under the belief that they are slower and…
I can understand the frustration that the OP expresses. I always play on elite and use a variety of ships and builds, mostly using cruisers. The problem from my experience is not so much that the "hit and run" tactics OP might be using are ineffective but may be the tendency of the NPC ships to run, just as player ships…
I use the Nukara deflector and Nukara shield with the Rom engine and haven't noticed any particular problem. Would upgrading/craft the shield have any effect on the problem?
I crashed out as well and am relieved to see it wasn't just me...."We are the Cryptic. Lower your expectations and we will assimilate your frustration".
Despite its shortcomings, I still craft, mostly for the TR-116 rifle. The problem is that except for the exchange and maybe a random xindi lockbox (and I didn't save any unfortunately) a purple or even a blue doff needed for crafting that rifle IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND! I don't like to buy things off the exchange (but a…
I have no fleet and don't really want one and have always then just pugged stf's. I have noticed that the stf's have gotten a bit tougher with DR but the major part of the problem may be that all of the veteran players are lvl 60 now while many of the ones that are not yet are getting fewer so that as they disappar from…
There are too many passives. Reduce them and make them more "race based" similar to what's available at character creation. Only certain races will be allowed certain passives that are unique to that race. It might help curb all those Orion women dressed like cocktail waitersses or strippers and might increase the variety…
Thanks for the feedback all. I do appreciate it. My next question would be: Where do these pesky DOFFs come from? I have one toon who sits in a shuttle in various clusters as his main job. What cluster stands the best chance of producing the necessary TR-116 doff? Geesh, talk about a needle in a haystack.
Would it help to say, "I knew that, I was just seeing if you were paying attention". It's not true but to save face and avoid embarrassment, I will try to sneak it by. Seriously though, thank you replying and saving my sanity. STO...It's not a game, it's a lifestyle
Are the new tokens going to be character or account based? In other words, am I going to have to buy a token for every toon that has an Odyssey or Bortasqu' or just one token that will work account wide for any Odyssey or Bortasqu'?
I wonder how this situation would be scored under the aforementioned dps/participation system. I am an engineer and set up my cruiser build and crew for tanking and healing. I do little dps and normally FAW to draw fire. When I go to a scenario like Crystalline Catastrophe, and I am with a bunch of really good players,…
The only thing more rare than a male Orion is a female Orion wearing a shirt or an actual uniform. I played a male Orion for awhile. The problem was that male Orions just don't do anything better than any other race, when it comes to traits. I also don't recall ever seeing a male Orion in any Star Trek movie or series so…
"What we obtain too cheap,, we esteem too lightly" - Thomas Paine. If Cryptic gave away all the shiny good stuff and eliminated "the grind", what would be the point of playing the game? Log in, press a button to get all the best equipment, boffs, doffs etc, hit the "I win" keybind button and you're done? If everyone had…
Why? Because I am partially blind, I have only partial use of one hand (but every keybind I can possibly think of) and have a seizure disorder that prevents me from wandering too far from my house without risking "flopping around" on the sidewalk to the point that someone calls and has me (unnecessarily) taken to a…
I like this thread. I like to watch canon-looking ships battle other canon looking ships in pve and pvp. That is why I usually use canon looking ships. I think the Cryptic ship designers do an excellent job on the design/look of new ship models (I'm not an apoligist or being ubsequious, it's just an opinion) and I have…
I think it is ridiculous that ANY Fed ship would have a cloak of ANY kind. Wasn't there only 1 Fed ship from a movie/series that had a cloak on the Fed side? If I remember correctly (and I may not though) I think the Defiant had a cloak but that was about it. A cloaking Defiant therefore would be tolerable but the thought…
I am relieved, though not pleased, to see that "The Best Defense" mission is as difficult for some others as it is for me. It was enough to make me swear off shuttle pve missions altogether. I never hit what I shot at, the shuttle turned so darn fast and was so small and difficult to see on the screen (even at maxed out…
If you want open world pvp, then travel around the different sectors, click on a ship passing by that looks interesting and ask for a challenge match. If they accept, there's your open world pvp with an opt out. The open world pvp games I have tried (eve and wow) have just ended up being "Bullies Online". It's frustrating…
I play KDF almost exclusively. It's fun to be the under dog. It's fun to be the "bad boy". It's fun to make due with the resources and content available and there are many "farm" missions ("Pi Canis" for dil, for one) and other doff missions that are unique to KDF. You don't need content to be unique or to have fun. Get to…
Post #9 by "coldnapalm" seems to have captured the situation correctly, at least in my opinion. First of all, cap the DPS monstrosity ships at maybe 1 billion+ dps. Yes, it would take longer to destroy a cube but that leaves the enemy ships more time to destroy you. Has anyone who complains about how easy STF's are ever…
In response to post #2, perhaps I expressed my thoughts in a clumsy way. I was trying to convey that if one wants all the "cool" items, C-store "shinies" etc, it is best to get them early on, when they will make the most difference. As well, and I mean no disrespect whatsoever, I have trouble understanding some of the…
While it is true that Bops that sit in one's aft area can be annoying, I have had reasonable success in pvp with tac team, eject plasma, releasing then igniting the "ignitable cloud plasma" and torpedo spreads. My biggest trouble in pvp has been that I am almost immediately the object of massive enemy focus fire and then…
One of the things I have always enjoyed and even marveled at with the whole Star Trek genre/phenomenon is the absolute diversity of people to whom it appeals. The fact that STO has this thread and problem actually speaks well for the game community here itself. I am a primary English speaker who also speaks Spanish who is…
Spawn camping is a "problem" (depending on your objective in the game and your definiton of "problem") on all pvp maps, not just Shanty Town. It is often, even usually done by players (more often fleet mate teams, in my experience) who just want to "get it over with" quickly so they can grab the rewards and go on and/or…
