Yep. I still love the Mat'Ha that I got in the Delta pack back in 2014 but aside from the unique scatter volley nose cannon it's outclassed by many newer ships. When I fly it I do so knowing I'm trading nostalgia for power.
We still get little perks like continuous XP boost for new characters, extra free skill respecs, auto-refinement of dil, and fireworks. I got mine on PC back in December 2014 so the stipend has paid it back. For new players the current features feels more like a 10,000 zen package than 20,000 (on sale, console) or $300 on…
Of course being part of Fed or KDF doesn't stop anyone from creating their own personal, private faction or origin that operates as part of them. I have a Terran Empire defector who took his Paradox Temporal Dreadnought and crew and defected to Fed 2409. Is there an in-game "Terran Defector" faction created by Cryptic? No…
Many events offer rewards that don't fit your main captain and their current build. The thing to remember is that not everyone is you. For every 10 ships there might be 8-9 that are not for you, but someone else has been waiting eagerly for them to be released. Some people chase the max DPS, max space magic damage, best…
I'm not seeing this "increasing content difficulty" you speak of in STO. Difficulty has at best remained the same when it hasn't decreased while at the same time the power of top-end gear has steadily increased. You now see one player vaporizing a Borg Unimatrix in seconds when it used to take a team of 5 minutes to DPS it…
To me one disagreement is in what the reward is supposed to be for playing a story episode. For me the reward is experiencing the episode itself, not some dil. Just like watching an episode of Trek on TV. Cryptic wants us to spend time in STO so we buy things, which is why they give out the shinies. I can see the argument…
@"phoenixc#0738" - I like the idea of more crosstime stories that are sideways instead of back and forth in the prime or prime Kelvin timelines. We already saw a little of that (in log entries) when the Sphere Builders appeared. I've been reading that kind of story most of my life with titles going back to at least 1958…
It's too bad Cryptic burned its bridges with Shatner many years ago when a long-gone person hounded him. We might have had him for the TOS expansion and something like this. A sound-alike wouldn't work for me, and no AI could be trained to speak...Like!...him ;) At least we'll always have Has Been ("Real" with Brad…
That's my response too. 8,000 dil is 16 cents. If you are grinding as a job, you're earning slave wages. Play the parts of the game you enjoy, ignore the rest. Skip events if you don't care about the reward and it isn't part of the campaign (or you plan to play extra in other campaign events to make up the 14 days). Work…
That's disappointing. You might pass this suggestion on since people are interested in the variants: They could be added to either the dil store or the phoenix packs. If Grudge Prime is left out it doesn't take away from the exclusive event reward.
No, the difficulty stays the same. Cryptic is happy for you to succeed with the event so you will play the next event too, they don't try to slow you down. It sounds like you had really bad random generation by the game. If your problem is with the patrols, try the TFO. If the TFO seems too hard, try the patrols.
That one would be a nice change of pace to fly. And either fun or a torment to the ship designer depending on how far out on the edge of the game engine the features required to make it are.
What's really frustrating is when you join a random TFO to earn marks or for the KDF recruitment, you're plopped into Gravity Kills, then 2 players instantly nope out. It's likely to be a hellish slog to finish even if it doesn't glitch out (I've done it, not fun) or you leave and lose your chance at those marks or KDF…
The even screen has a progress bar counter at the bottom of the window. It also shows a countdown timer for when you are able to make more progress, usually 20 hours later. That means if you play at 9 PM on day 1, you have to wait until 5 PM on day 2 before you can earn more progress.
Didn't Picard dress up as a mercenary in one episode? Besides, captains can wear xmas sweaters, Herald gear, Khan outfits, etc. - STO has ignored canon all along for captains.
I always say this, but: Unlock the tailor. Unlock the palette. FREEDOM! Let us try to use every costume unlock we have on every captain and boff. Cryptic/DECA can show us a warning banner that arms and legs might disappear, horrible clipping might appear, or the space-time continuum might collapse but let us risk it…
Blog (updated?) says 1 hangar, secondary deflector - https://www.playstartrekonline.com/en/news/article/11571809 Sadly, while it has Commander science the universal seats are Lt. (not Lt. Commander) and Ensign, so only 1 Lt. Commander science power.
You have a limited number of trait slots. Many players own far more ships with traits than they have trait slots. They also might be flying a ship because they like it, but don't want to use its trait. Also, I think traits do get auto-added when you have an empty trait slot.
They keep future sale dates secret until they appear, so Black Friday is probably the next almost-guaranteed one. I could see an extra flash sale appearing to give a boost to Embracer's income, but that's wild speculation.
Sad news for Cryptic staff, but possibly just part of the shift to DECA: https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/cryptic-studios-is-laying-off-staff-at-the-end-of-october "Cryptic Studios is laying off staff at the end of October ..." --- Thanks to the departing staff for all the fun they've given us over the years. I…
Yep, I just used about 300,000 dil on phoenix upgrades and re-engineering to gear up a new alt on console over the upgrade weekend. That does help the exchange indirectly by reducing the supply since dil spend on characters means the dil can't be traded for zen. Not that I bother to farm since my day job pays pretty well.…
