  • And if the T6 Miranda were available on consoles instead of just the type 8 material on the old & busted T1 Miranda model from 2010, I'm sure I'd embrace this with both hands. Maybe next year both will be playable.
  • Nice to hear Miral will have more to do. Hopefully it won't be more needing rescue.
  • I believe the name for that is "Operant Conditioning", sometimes called the Skinner Box. It's a method of altering human behavior based upon antecedents and consequences, and is where the majority of Cryptic's money comes from. People being forced to compulsively log in once a day to do something was a worry of the old…

  • There are two possibilities that are most likely. The less likely but infinitely more disappointing possibility: The Iconians will be introduced, they will be trash mobs, they will be in multiple pve queues, they will no longer be threatening inside of a week. The other more likely possibility: the Iconian mobs will be…
  • Hard data is your best hope of getting the issue fixed in the short term. Cryptic may not respond, but it becomes incredibly difficult to ignore information such as number of people affected, system configurations of those experiencing this issue to demonstrate the broad range of people who *could* be affected, and so…
  • I've been watching this thread since the launch of S9. While my system was never particularly high end it's always met the system requirements and been able to run STO effectively at medium settings. With the launch of Season 9, that is no longer the case. I have set everything to LOW or OFF, and experience massive frame…
  • I was one of the first to try Steam, and I am going to blame them, because in the beginning Steam was a bug riddled mess and is no more secure now than it was then. It still gets TRIBBLE, your information still gets stolen. But it was a success because at the end of the day Valve demonstrated a concern for their customers…
  • I have few illusions on that score. It will happen, because the ones posting against it aren't Perfect World's target audience. Cryptic's perhaps, but not Perfect World. The number of people who don't know or don't care how some things work, things like DRM, malware, Web browsers, outnumber those who do. Far more people…
  • False. Introducing invasive tracking software is part of the goal. EA has a history of gathering information from user's PCs without notification or consent, that was part of the whole backlash against EA's SecuROM DRM software that came installed in games like Spore and Mass Effect 3. Origin scans your PC, and EA even…
  • What's ranged that Klingons could use as a equivalent that would be uniquely Klingon... The first thing that came to mind was throwing knives. Huge, nasty looking throwing knives. The second was essentially a shrapnel firing blunderbuss. With a transporting slug shot as a secondary fire.
  • Considering how ubiquitous the M.A.C.O. Battle Rifle is throughout the game now, I doubt they're going to replace a piece of a major set with another weapon. You have to also remember that lots of people use it, as it's one of the better weapons in the game, it's sort of the same thing as with the Galaxy layout being…
  • As a longtime Galaxy captain, I would definitely be upset if suddenly the ship's configuration changed after a patch, and my entire setup was suddenly invalid after years of mastering the ship. I have been tempted now and again to get the Fleet Gal-X. However I love the classic Galaxy design, and the Gal-X still has model…
  • Reinstalling Tribble, couldn't last night due to patching issues. It's roughly a 12GB patch.
  • Deleted TRIBBLE earlier today to get some much needed disk space back, re-patching now. I'm asking someone whom I've been testing this issue with to send you his gameprefs in the meantime. Since my last post in this topic we've been testing this issue and have heard from multiple others across various versions of XP who…
  • Another release notes post, another lack of the XP Media Center bug under known issues. It's not like it's been reproduced by just using XP Media Center, or that it renders the game unplayable or anything.
  • All these great changes, and Tribble still doesn't work on Media Center. *sigh*
  • And the multicore rendering bug with XP Media Center is still not listed as known.
  • With customization options being created for purchased/unlocked Reman Player Characters, and the Romulans now being playable, will the Cloaked Intentions Reman Bridge Officers finally be customizable? Will the Mol'Rihan Embassy Romulan Bridge Officers be customizable?
  • I'm worried about the XP Media Center SP3 multi-core rendering problem not being listed as a known issue, especially since the issue is reproducible and was present on another machine running Media Center SP3 with a different dual-core processor. This issue has existed since the LOR updates began on Tribble weeks ago.
  • Another week another report: ticket ID #35,261 I'm starting to get worried about this. This is a big bug and has not even been listed in the TRIBBLE patch notes since Devs were notified. Guys, dual core XP machines are well-used workhorses, XP Media Center is a common flavor of XP, this WILL affect more than a few people…
  • I can confirm that this problem does not affect Redshirt, I patched it over the weekend and Multi-Core rendering works fine. It seems to be something specifically wrong with Tribble. I'll send a new report and edit the ticket number below later today when I have time to log in. Tribble ticket sent: Ticket ID is #34,938
  • Again the build on Holodeck works fine, Multicore Rendering is enabled no problem. On Holodeck, STO can tell that I have a multi-core CPU. The Tribble build will not even recognize my multi-core CPU as a multi-core CPU. And the gameprefs.pref entry reads: "PrefEntry SystemSpecs.isUnsupportedSpecs 0" So my hardware is…
  • Game has still disabled multi-core rendering, claiming my dual core CPU does not support it. Dove into the gameprefs and found that unsupported is false, so its not my CPU. Manually entered in the correct number of cores in the gameprefs, no dice. Manually entered the number of cores in MSCONFIG, game still does not…
  • I figured out the problem, apparently multi-core rendering is disabled for some reason and the game is saying my CPU (dual core) doesn't support it. Multi-Core rendering is enabled on Holodeck and the game runs just fine. In the meantime I'm gonna start a new topic for anyone else who might be experiencing this.
  • Used the command line (-enablerawinputsupport 0) to log into Tribble, and I'm getting monster slowdown issues from the UI. Disabled the Tribble UI with alt+F12 and the game runs at a normal pace. Anyone else experiencing this? Logged into Holodeck afterward and the game ran just fine. edit: Tried sending a bug report on…
  • The One thing I've been able to do is look at the log in/character select screens, because of this bizarre pointer bug that's plaguing the test server, preventing me from actually logging in. But I think the log in/character select is good as is, miles better than what we have now as it nails something the game has always…
  • Shinzon: "You merely adopted the dark, I was raised by Remans in it."
  • That may be true, but that's because the franchise is effectively now split into two sub-franchises: Trek Classic and New Trek. The uniforms in Countdown (which as an aside is an absolutely horrendous thing to call a comic tie-in, very much akin to calling a brand new luxury liner Titanic) are from the universe of Trek…
  • Mirror Galaxy Tactical Cruiser with no third nacelle or crooked phaser beam cannon.
