UH..from the comments so far it looks like a server issue more than a login issue..I am sitting and starring at the small "Trying to update the launcher" box progressing at a snails pace which usually gets done in a second or two..
Why is this issue not even mentioned in the patch notes for today's forthcoming 'emergency maintenance'? Where's the logic in fixing in game issues if we can't even log on?
from what a friend of mine who plays Neverwinter she said someone told her it seems to be a DDoS attack on Cryptic's servers

But Neverwinter and STO are on the same server, so they should both be affected. It was last time...

I can not play for the 2nd day because of your maintenance! How do you plan to compensate for these outages?
Well if they are being attack as some else posted, I would guess nothing or maybe the 9yr Event extended.
If it is their fault, then a free ship for everyone or a lockbox key would be my suggestions
they arent going to give you compensation for a few hours outtage yesturday and today is a regular maintenance for which you are told is going happen hours before its going to happen

I am not talking about the maintenance, I and the others are talking about not being able to log at all or being booted off and getting the message: Unable to authenticate: Connection to the account server timed out.
Which for many of us has been happening since yesterday.

I managed to get on for a few hours yesterday, with a single time-out (during a mission), but it was pretty much good. Was happily expecting to get my ship today and I get that message...
It's cropping up more often than some in-universe villains.
This appears to be intermittent, have had this on and off all day... typically it resolves in a half hour or so, but currently this is the third time today this has happened.
It generally starts when I attempt to swap characters, disconnects, then restarting the launcher still hangs for a while.
Just thought I'd mention this since it appears to be ongoing, even after this morning's patchwork.
ok after patch at 7pm gmt uk til just now after a TFO, left map and was kicked immediately just as yesterday. Now getting unable to auth' message. Getting kicked when leaving maps and changing character seems to bring it on. If the server is keeping you connected until you leave...?
